For optimizing stats, have you considered swapping out the helm for a “celestial” helm?
The celestial helm has 3% crit damage instead of the 2% you find in valk/bers gear, allowing much better offensive/defensive stat ratio:
normal stats for helm
45
32
32/2% crit
1:16 ratio
celestial stats
20 (all)
3% crit
You lose 25 power, but gain 3% crit. If we take 3% of an average 3000 attack power, we get 90 extra power from this (45 because of 50% crit chance, still more than the 25 we lost).
We also gain 20 prec to add another point of crit chance (assuming there was ANY leftover wasted precision elsewhere), and get to keep 20 vit+tough (12 less than soldier).
The measly healing and condition damage is wasted, but only looking at the four stats above, it could still be worthwhile.
EDIT: The pants and coat also have greater crit damage for celestial (4% for celestial pants and 6% for celestial coat) but I’m pretty sure you lose too much power for this to be viable.

Can you salvage celestial armor to get back the crystals or insignia?
Wondering this if for example, you decided you wanted to use the celestial gear on another character.
Is it possible to get back the crystals in anyway? Or are we just screwed, and have to wait another month for 30 more crystals?
Why would it need the evade time removed?
It only evades for 1/4 second, but lasts 1/2 second.
If you stun near the end of it’s animation, or lay aoe down on someone using DB then they take damage or get stunned.
The only way to cancel a DB and get away safely is to weapon swap (cancels the animation) and then dodge away to avoid the stun/aoe. Other than that, the thief is stuck in animation and is a sitting duck.
I love DB, use it a lot myself, but this is a big weakness that makes itself known if you ever use DB regularly.
Hopefully you mentioned something about the placement too, I have seen lots of SF failapults built in that tunnel way to close to WC. In range of AC/bali/counter cata fire range or suicide dive bombable. I hear on TS that SF building catas in Dredge and my response is always, is it kitten placement again? LOL
Not that we don’t do lots of stupid kitten ourselves, especially me, I do lots of stupid kitten. :)

Funny you mention that…Last night we had two of our newer commanders build siege along the road coming from SM to Green Keep, to assault WC…I had been on my necro Dhuum bombing some people (trying to get to 30k kills this week), when I looked back and saw 2-3 catas /ACs/various ballistas all set up….
Once I explained to them the invulnerable wall issue on that side of the tower, we all laughed about it…I fully expected to get flamed on the forums about it too, until ET peoples rushed that siege to kill it right about the time the gate went down. As the red circle went up in WC I seen the last bit of siege get killed….I thought it was a pretty funny exchange of failing moments.
Yes we did have some giggles in TS about those 3 catapults. I was thinking, WTF, I think someone is trolling me here on my posts yesterday afternoon about crappy WC siege placmement. :) Seriously I thought they were trollapults. The decision was made to abandon WC at the time and so we went around to kill the trollapults. The siege of Jerrifers that followed also included lots of interesting sieging that…well didn’t damage anything lol. I did have a lot of fun last night!

I logged shortly after WC, sorry I missed the other funny siege moments….
Nothing tops DH though, twice in two days we took Klovan from them during our last matchup with them…Both times they trebbed down the southern (Golanta-side) wall with trebs from Jerri’s…
BOTH times they proceeded to run through the breach and directly up the stairs (on the breached wall), and stopped at the breach and had that “I think we just kitten up” moment. We are talking 30-40 people both times…It is easily the funniest thing I have seen in WvW.
Hey now, those were good siege I had put up…. the wall wasn’t invulnerable… it just needed to be hit a little harder >.<
Yeah, I get the exact same results. I made a post in the bug forum a few minutes ago. Try posting replies to get our thief fixed faster!
The thief class skill “Steal” has a tooltip of 17.5 seconds with 300 points in trickery, and using the trait “Slight of Hand” (20% steal cd reduction and 1 second daze on steal).
20% + 30% = 50%
0.5 * 35 seconds = 17.5 seconds (matches tooltip)
When you activate steal and then the ability you use in rapid succession (to see the cool down on steal), you see the cool down is 21 seconds, not 17.5.
If you apply the cooldown reductions in sequence:
0.8 (20%) * 0.7 (30%) * 35 seconds = 19.6 seconds.
This does not match the tool tip, or actual cool down timer.
