Was going to pipe in saying that last I knew, the game was very unstable and performed poorly for Mac users.
Alienware machines are overpriced for what they offer; ASUS’ ROG line is usually more competitively priced and offers superior or the same specs and better hardware quality and cooling. If you’re insistent on low-profile, the Razer Blade is the best in-between, but be careful with buggy synapse software and a very frustrating RMA process if something goes wrong.
Building is your best bet if you don’t need a laptop at all. Cheapest and best performance.
I saw the Razer Blade and that honestly would be my next choice because I absolutely love the form and build quality of the MBP. But the thing is I haven’t tried Windows 10 yet, how is it?
Game run like garbage on Mac beta client. Beta client for over 3 year with no real improve. It get much worse over last year. Use to run decent on Mac. If you want Mac buy it for other reason than game. If you buy Mac you will be very sad way GW2 run on it. It is just poor done cider port form Transgame than is now own by NVIDIA. I gave up and run GW2 windows bootcamp on my Mac and it is much better.
Here is big thread about problem with Mac beta client (beta for over 3 year).

Also Mac beta client (for over 3 year) is limit to 32 bit because run in cider. So will not get advantage of 64 bit client.
Well I currently have an old 2012 MBP with an Intel HD 4000 on it. That’s what I’ve been playing GW2 on, and in my experience GW2 runs better on the Mac client, although it still didn’t run great but it was playable at the lowest settings. I had this very terrible stutter when I ran GW2 in bootcamp.
Guild Wars 2 can run on a potato and that’s intentional. I get 30-60 fps at 4k with a relatively old card.
At what settings though, and what kind of card do you have?
So I want to get a new computer. I was thinking of buying an alienware or possibly building my own, but I really love OS X. The only games I play are GW2, CSGO, and HOTS. Does anyone have the Retina Macbook Pro with the R9 m370x? How well can it run GW2? I know it will CSGO and HOTS no problem but GW2 is the more graphically intense game.
Do yourself a favor and build it yourself. Save yourself a hundred bucks or more along the way.
But that’s the thing I’ve never built a PC, and honestly don’t really want to get into that on my free time. I know it’s cheaper, but you pay more for the less hassle.
How well would GW2 run on the Alienware X51? It starts at $699.99, could you max the settings?
It is very viable in pvp.
Why do you think it’s not ?
I feel like you’re better off going staff/greatsword or sword and torch than going longbow in pvp.
I’m almost done completing Kudzu. However should I keep it or sell it? I love the longbow, but it’s not very viable in pvp. Also with the history of the ranger getting nerfed over and over should I just sell it and buy another legendary for a different class?
I’ve noticed this as well. It puts you out of combat even when there are no mobs or anything around.
So I currently run full ascended berserker for my Ranger in WvW. Is it worth it to mystic forge some armor for valkyrie/cavalier/knight to gain some more survivability? Or is it not worth losing the damage since we can reposition fairly well since I run LB/GS?
I think you should just keep it unless you really want those dire trinkets and an extra 4k hp. Ranger’s have a great use of healing power and it still has that much needed condition damage that you want. I don’t think the extra vitality is necessary since you’re already at 20k, and the healing power really helps in drawn out skirmishes.

Noob question. Is smoke screen visible to enemy players?

WvW , EOTM, SPVP, and some PvE as well.
Celestial Thief is actually really good using the P/D weapon set. Good damage and conditions. Yishi has a great video about it on YouTube.
As a newish thief do you think it’s worth it learning this build? Or should I spend more time learning and practicing S/D?
Would perplexity runes be the best for dire?
Hey guys, I’m looking to try a new build that’s not mainly power build. I was thinking of a condi dire build or a celestial hybrid build. Which one would be more effective WvW? Can you guys give me some example builds as well? Much appreciated.
Question: If you put a superior Sigil of Bloodlust on your underwater weapons, will you still get the stacks if you get a kill with your on land weapons?
Take 0/6/6/2/0. That’s the standard. Awesome survivability, some might with SA 5. You could reset fights all day long. Honestly you don’t need more than 2 in Acro.
You can be very successful with both builds, just don’t stand in d/p’s blind field and they’re not as strong.
I’ve had this same dilemma recently. I’m only a recent lvl 80 thief but I notice myself getting better everyday. I first started out using d/p but after I tried d/d I haven’t went back. In my opinion d/d is SO much more fun to play, albeit a bit harder. CnD is just too awesome a skill and you can stay in stealth longer. D/p 5+2 skills are too init expensive compared to CnD. Plus Zerg diving is absolutely amazing with d/d. D/d also slightly does more damage thanks to the invulnerability on CnD. I recently dueled d/p thief twice who was probably the same skill level as me. One of the fights was pretty close but I believe that this matchup more depends on skill.
One of the people on my team (a warrior) said they would friend me just to know when I log off so they wouldn’t have to go through another match with me… Some very constructive criticism lol. But other team members offset his words by saying I did alright with the little experience that I have. I can’t wait until I see that warrior on the other side of the battlefield
I am currently working on a video series covering roations for all the different classes and roles
hope it will get online soon
I’m watching your vid’s right now!
Thank you everyone so much for the replies! I didn’t expect such a huge response! The community is great
. Really appreciate it everyone.
So I recently leveled my first character to 80 and he is a thief. Love playing him. My main focus is PvP (I do both sPvP and WvW). I’ve been only playing hot joins and recently started doing some solo arenas. I’ve been thinking that I’ve been playing fairly well because I tend to have more points than most people. However even with having the most points, some people call me noob and other names because we end up losing. Some players have been saying that I don’t know how to play and my rotation is terrible. So my question is what exactly is a thief supposed to do in sPvP? Like how do I rotate and things like that?
