I read the OPs message now a few times and I guess he wanted to point out something a bit different: He actually wants people running condi-builds to actually have to use 2 stats in order to increase damage.
Although that’s already true for many condi-builds because they get bleed-stacks up with a bleed-on crit trait or bleed-on crit sigil. But there are also builds which do not really need any crit-chance to apply a massive amount of bleeds and therefore they can use a defensive stat instead of crit. So the OP doesn’t want to have additional damage, he wants to reduce condition damage and let it crit.
@OP: I guess that’s what you wanted to point out?
Here I have to agree a bit: e.g. P/D thiefs as well as condi-ranger (when using axe as main bleed-source) do not need crits. When I run with my ranger and my condi-build I easily apply >20stacks bleed within a few seconds while still having around 28k health and 3.2k armor.
If condi would need to crit in order to get decent damage, I would have to give up that defense for some percentage.

Joking aside, it’s probably not too fun for the “winners” either. I’d hate to be anywhere near that “match” right now. Meh.
No, it’s no fun.
I’ve no clue where all those players suddenly come from but in the last weeks we didn’t have so many players.
Anyway I guess that within our tier the differences on population are really big. And nobody (at least with a brain) is actually arguing that we are about to win because we are so unbelievable skilled.
I guess we’ll also have a harder time next weeks when we meet servers that have about the same population level.
But let’s say I am going for axe/dagger & sword/torch, what build would be a better choice, Faux’s RRR Build or dire-gear IIRC, and how effective are they in ZvZ, I understand it’s effective in roaming.
When I use that setup (I’m multiclass, most of them I run either power or condi. It just depends on my mood) I run full dire and 2/0/6/6/0. It works good when roaming solo or small groups. This “panic” thing is something that can happen with every class and setup. If you enter the “smashing buttons not on CD”-mode, you can be sure it’s over. I guess we all observed this phenomena on ourselves.
As you need to enter the face-to-face area of your opponents to be more effective, it’s good to have evades (lighting reflexes and the sword). I also use rampage-as-one to get stability when needed.
There are some counter-builds that you’ll get trouble with. E.g. Eles with diamond-skin (I don’t remember the exact English naming), certain Mesmer-builds and Engis (here it’s better to keep some distance. E.g. a shortbow would fit better).
If you’re interested in gameplay and you’re on Twitch: Take a look at Gladomer. He’s often roaming as a ranger with that build.
To came back to the topic: I use shortbow in my power-builds. It’s a really good way to kite opponents.
IMHO (speaking of WvW-roaming) shortbow is not the best weapon for a condition build. I actually use axe/dagger and sword/torch.
If you stand close to your opponent (in order to make sure that axe-2 hits with all projectiles), you set up such a high condition pressure with bleeds (it’s no problem to get >15 stacks immediately), burning and poison that you opponent needs to cleanse fast or he’ll be dead in seconds. It’s re-applied quite fast.
With shortbow, you’ll have to have a lot of crit-chance to trigger additional bleeds via traits/sigills to get some decent pressure on your opponent. With axe/dagger you can take vitality instead of precision (dire-gear IIRC).
Regarding this “hack”. I’ve seen this happening on our watergate (on EB) myself. But I had in no way the impression that the attackers did that with intention. It looked more like that they jumped through by accident. Of course they died within seconds because we stood on the other side of the door.
It also happend for myself (but in the other direction ;-) ): I found myself suddenly outside of a keep while I was repairing the door.
For me it looks like the last patch introduced some bug here. Of course it would be fair if that happens to just leave the keep again to make it a fair fight.
Well, I observed similar things yesterday. Suddenly people who where attacking our watergate on EB went through and were inside although the door was still at 80%.
But from how it looked like that happened by accident. I would not say that they did it with intention because it was suicide for those who came through :-)
I observed the same for myself: I was inside a keep, repairing the door and suddenly I stood outside the keep. No deal because I did not get an advantage but maybe this correlates to those other problems we observed.
Of course if people understand how to provoke that bug, a lot of them will abuse it.
Well, I was online when that happened. And all I can say is that several of our players complained about that “deal” and asked our commander to stop that. He probably was aware that it wasn’t a good idea and left right after that short “we need the waypoint” swap of ownership of the garrison and only said “remember the clockwise thing and bye”.
Remove the “repair-wall” daily. Whenever this is part of the daily, it’s getting worse.
German orderliness, efficiency & discipline vs Polish happy chaotic anarchy.
Well, I referred to German as a language here. And I was mentioning the fact that we speak the same language. That’s the same on every server that is dedicated to one language. All those servers have an advantage because nearly all of the players are native speakers.
As being one of your opponents I can only say that we actually recognize your communication problems. In TS people often ask if you actually do communicate at all.
I remember standing at a broken StoneMist-wall and I could observe 2-3 man groups coming from your garrison and running in all directions but not to that open wall. Not even to speak of grouping and entering the wall as a team. You could have easily taken StoneMist because most of our players were busy defending other towers.
Something you’d know if you have scouts that report (also some sort of communication) what’s going on the map.
This should not be a flame. Don’t get me wrong. I’m pretty sure you’d be doing a lot better if you just would work together. And a common language is the first step. Of course this our advantage because it’s obvious that we don’t have that problem on a German server. You have some really good player (I often roam solo), just team a bit and you can have more fun and even more kick our a… :-)
We’ve dominated the borderlands in primetime all week, and at one stage at about 10pm last night we held both Bay and Hills in Dz bl.
Yes, and that’s exactly the time we couldn’t neither port nor run to hills on our borderland for example. All we got was: DISCONNECT.
Currently I really don’t (even more than before) care who is first/2nd/3rd. I would just like to have a playable WvW for all of us.
Beside those technical problems I really enjoy this weeks matchup. Thanks to all!
I just want to thank everybody for a nice matchup. I enjoy it because I learned a lot this week and compared to last week it’s a lot more challenging.
the right to roam and fight who and where u like ….. and plz plz dont flame people who are new to wvw , just because they are new doesnt mean u cant teach them the ropes …
Basically I agree. Flames are never an answer to a problem. Many of our commanders really explain things over and over again (esp. thanks to Rankkor[SWAT] because he’s reading here).
One important thing is: come to your server’s TS. The first thing I do before starting GW: login to the the TS server. It’s helpful for you and for your whole team.
One of the main reasons are: sometime you really need to follow your commander: Often it’s said: do not attack the door, do not attack the mobs around you, do NOT take the waypoint (because others observe the map, and you can see how raids are moving because of this) => an operation meant to be sneaky does not work. The mesmer who prepared a portal is detected and maybe even killed. And the whole project of taking something failed. This happens very often and can be frustrating.
Of course I want to repeat: you don’t need to follow the commander but it’s always nice to try to somewhat synchronize a bit. And flames are never ok in my opinion. Most people understand and accept things better if you just tell them why instead of “you are an idi…”
>Why dont we have a thread yet
Well, to be honest: this matchup is boring from my perspective (I’m on Dzagonur).
We outnumber the other two servers in a way that it’s not really a challenge to win. On weekend all we could do is say “respect, at least they don’t give up”.
In the last weeks we’ve been the underdogs and we had to fight hard to make 2nd (which we didn’t last week and that’s why you see us now in this tier). This hard fights were more fun for me because I could actually “feel” that we tried everything to reach a goal. At the moment we just go to the next place and come back a bit later.
I guess we all see that this tier is not balanced at the moment. We’re aware of this and for sure most of our players have respect that you keep fighting.
