So, I would like to know what exactly happened here. Before this horrible loss streak I had a positive win/loss ratio (12+ wins over loses) and 1646 rating points as far as I remember. I multiclass and play DH, Daredevil, Reaper and sometimes Scrapper depending on what’s best for the team. Also I know the classes as if they were my main (necromancer).
This is something that happened to me last season too, I was 1690+ with similar stats and bam! suddenly terrible loss streak. At that time, I wanted to see how far down the match making would take me so I didn’t mind it and ended 1420 mid season. And now, Season 8, the story seems to repeat and there’s a screenshot. I’m definitely not new to pvp, have more than 15k pvp matches and consider myself a above the average player.
But, I’m curious about what happened and I would appreciate if a dev look into this and give some feedback. Thanks.
This is not the first time it happens, but now in ranked this is affecting my team mates too. Every time the load screen takes more time than usual, I know I’ll be stuck and unable to move in the ranked match. People say they can see me moving, but that doesn’t reflect on my screen. Doesn’t work if I relog, or close the game and log in again, the only thing that works is that if I’m out of the match for a certain amount of time I’ll be dishonored and prohibited to queue again for like 2 hours.
Yes, I’m done with Season 6, no thanks. There’s fewer players and match quality is evidently lower. I managed to achieve position #184 playing exclusively base necromancer last season and it was fun, but this season is just disappointing. Good luck to those who still play casually or try to reach top 250, you’ll have one more free spot.
Your heart is not of a Warrior, so you’ll be fine. People who actually love the class will keep playing it, I’m not saying warrior is bad at the moment, actually the class is in a good spot despite the consecutive nerfs (some of them fixes imo). But yeah, it’s sad that we have to play a meta build to be effective.
If you’re using a condition build, go sword/shield. You have nice mobility with Savage Leap which combined with Mobile Strikes it’s really useful. Flurry applies long immobilizes and 8 stacks of bleed which is really strong. Final trust is a waste of slot so you have the Sword’s autoattack that also applies bleeds and a creep at the end of the chain. Savage Leap + Leg Specialist + Opportunist is a nice combo which Cripples+Immobilizes and you get Fury. Shield off-hand will protect you from important attacks and Shield Bash is also a nice interrupt that stuns for 1 second. So you can trait for Shield Master or Missile Deflection. I personally prefer Missile Deflection.
Zerk builds will use Axe/Shield for the Shield Bash+Eviscerate combo or if you traited Leg Specialist Throw Axe (Immobilize) + Shield Bash (optional) + Eviscerate combo. Axe autoattack is also nice if your opponent is in a defensive position.
Also, which of these two sets you choose depends on your second weapon. If you go Sword+Shield then Longbow is a must. If you go Axe/Shield you can try any other one handed weapon depeding on what’s your playstyle.
Typical pvp fight: me – uberskilled commando dragon punch thief vs that low rank noob war:
See him, haha he’s going down poor soul, jump in shadow shot, double – wild – lotus strike, he seems surprised, another shadow shot haha you’re dead meat, double – wild – .. he turns around, jump out, swap to sb, choking gas, trick shot, trick shot, cluster, he swings his greatsword, haha noob, ugh berseker stance? ok easy, just run around, don’t get hit, it’s off haha, swap, shadow shot, double – wild -.. shield block? ok, just run around, jump in, double – wild -.. defy pain? oh come on dude, ain’t got time for this kitten, ok it’s off, haha jump in, double -.. ouch 2-3k axe autos?! black powder, BLACK POWDER! HEAL! phew, shadow refuge, easy tiger.. k, steal – backstab, double – wild, heartseeker, hartseeker, hart…. 12k EVISCERATE!!! what the kitten!!! how.. but.. how.. great, he’s laughing now^^
You’re an “uberskilled commando dragon punch thief” that eats a mighty EVISCERATE? really? Even Asura engis can dodge the readable EVISCERATE. And I wonder, 12k eviscerate is yeah very satisfying high damage, but were you fighting against a glass cannon low rank warrior and ate 12k damage. What a shame, coming from a Thief.
Not even slightly, there’s a reason people don’t run the ‘unorthodox’ builds.
Cleansing ire/healing signet/lyssa runes/ doublestance & doublesignet utilities – attach weapon of choice and facetank whatever you’d like. There really isn’t a skill in the game that would punish this setup in a way that you couldn’t shake off
I punish this setup you’re talking about with my thief. I’m rank 42 and I punish r50+ warriors with Healing Signet, Endure Pain, Balanced Stance, Berserker Stance, Cleansing Ire. My main is warrior and I know exactly how to deal with my natural class. I mean it’s like if I knew what they are going to do next so I counter important attacks that will compromise my glassy but bursty thief. Warrior attacks are extremely easy to read in 1v1 2v2 fights (Pin Down exception). People want to face warriors and are willing to kill them in seconds like you did before warrior buff, you loved that and got accustomed. Endure Pain is only 4 seconds (5 traited), balanced stance (Stability) is a boon and you can steal, remove or corrupt it. Some classes can’t remove boons but have access to Protection and Regeneration. Immunity to incoming conditions 8 secs (10 traited). I mean, if I’m running a heavy condition build why should I use my CD’s if a warrior pops up this stance? Conditions mesmers, necromancers, condi rangers and condition engineers, just “retreat” for a couple seconds and then come back, just as Thieves do. If you want to be a hero while Endure Pain and Zerk Stance is up then go. Target your opponent and open your eyes, there’s a little icon that appears on top that says what boons your opponent has. An average-skilled warrior will usually wait for some damage to test your damage output, armor and mobility (usually first 2 incoming attacks), if surpassed his expectations he’ll consider you as a threat and fight you as his equal, if you haven’t then you’ll be auto-attacked and you’ll post on forums “Nerf Warriors”. Warriors are warriors, understand that you can’t fight them as if you were a warrior too.
- I apologize for any grammar slip since english is my seconds language.
Wanna see how warriors are NOT OP? Fight a skilled necro, engineer, thief, or mesmer. They will destroy you. If they pop doom sigils on their weapons a warrior will be destroyed even harder.
People need to L2P. Warriors are EASY MODE on my engineer.
That’s weird, I think you duel average skilled warriors so you feel they’re EASY MODE for you lol. I dueled top 100 pvp engineers (wont give names for respect to them) when they attempt to decap home sometimes I defend alone and I always have more chances to win, if I run condition warrior my chances are even higher. When they realize that, they retreat.
Full melee zerker warrior, high risk and high reward. The essence of the class. Nice video.
I play warrior as a main and I agree it’s OP, using berserker amulet it does massive damage and CC at the same time, not to mention that traited with Burst Mastery is even more powerful. So yes, needs to be toned down.
But the changes they are bringing is quite a bit more then just a tone down. If it is OP in PvP then nerf it for PvP. It has never been OP in WvW or PvE so why nerf the kitten out of it there.
Point taken, forgot to say that is my opinion from a hardcore pvper. So yes, only for pvp although many people complain that’s OP in wvw too but I can’t give my opinion there because I don’t wvw much.
