Why There Should Never Be Invuln in P. Story

Confessor’s Stronghold bugged out on me today at the Justiciar Adrienne fight such that her shield could not be removed. If she had taken reduced damage instead of absolutely no damage, I could have just finished the mission. But I couldn’t, so I logged out. Life’s too short to fight with a game.

Encouraging players to log out is bad. Invulnerability encourages players to log out. So there should never be invulnerability in personal story.

I’d love to know what happened next in the story. I’d love to reward all the work that went into creating it. But I probably won’t. Because life’s too short to fight with a game.

Immediate Crash, Game Unplayable

Thanks everyone!

I have the 32 bit client.

According to the GW2 min specs I only need 2 GB RAM. I can understand if only 3 would cause me to crash in extreme situations but surely I should be able to run the game with 50% above the minimum.

The DirectX link sent me to a generic Microsoft page. I found a dxdiag utility that says I have DirectX Version: 9Ex.

Windows Update reports fully up to date.

I tried Event Viewer but didn’t see anything promising. I tried to log in about a thousand times and there’s nothing on that scale.

I guess I’ll try getting a video card. Thanks again everyone!

Hello!

I have played Guild Wars 2 for a long time and enjoy it very much. I recently moved and got a new computer. After I spent a day downloading Guild Wars 2, I successfully logged in and hit play. The game immediately crashed, and gave no error message of any kind.

I have tried:
rebooting
using and not using command flag -windowed

I am not running:
any other program of any kind

Here is the path I have installed to:
C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe

My computer has:
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz
3.0 GB RAM
846.9 GB free disk space
Windows 10 (build 10586), 32-bit

I would really like to play this game, I have in the past! But I have literally nothing to go on here. The game just crashes. Any help appreciated!

Guild Rush Broken

We ran through two guild rushes (Quaggan and Ghost Wolf) and when we got to the end we were not given completion. We’ve been running rushes for a year. We didn’t miss flags. In the Quaggan rush we had at least two other guilds running with us. They too could not get completion.

It’s broken. Please fix it.

>They added timers to give a sense of urgency.

There is no timer on the wyvern event. That is a major part of my concern. There is a timer on daybreak, but there is no indication that the wyvern event will end at daybreak.

>Look at it this way, it’s a nocturnal animal. There for, it will be at a big disadvantage in the day time, so instinct and self preservation will kick in, and it will run off to safety.

Utogi tells us that wyverns hunt by day. No other wyvern in the game vanishes in this way. Also it doesn’t flee, it just vanishes. If it DOES flee, then surely that should count as it being defeated, and the event should succeed. What battle has anyone ever been in where the one who runs away is crowned the victor?

I am a big supporter of GW2 and ANet. I bought the expansion and would do so again, and I talk up GW2 and ANet to all my gamer friends. It is important that you understand this comes from a place of constructive criticism.

Today I fought the Legendary Wyvern Patriarch. It was an epic battle worthy of the title legendary, as a ragtag group of adventurers hacked and parried and dodged, narrowly escaped the maw of death many times, heroically braved the flames to resurrect each other, danced through the sky with bombs and fire, and at the last moment.

At the last moment?

At the last moment the fight was abruptly over, because sunrise happened. Event failed.

.

This is such horrible design for so many reasons. I will list some.
1. It makes no in-game sense whatsoever. Wyverns are not vampires, they are not eradicated by sunlight. Even if they were, such eradiction should grant event success, not failure.
2. It very strongly discourages playing the game. Why would I participate in any event if I can’t be sure it won’t abruptly fail me? Why would I play the game at all?
3. Combined with the above, it very strongly discourages exploration and random interaction with other players. This is how relationships are formed, and it is only relationships that keep a game going. Not content, not storylines. People.

The fight itself is really clever and clearly took a very long time to build, and one simple decision has completely ruined it. Again, I am a big ANet supporter, so I am willing to believe this is accidental rather than intentional. There are at least three obvious fixes. Remove the time limit component, or grant success on time limit, or make the fight have an explicit time limit.

I personally am not going to stop playing because of this, but I’m going to spend way less time exploring the new content you made. I just don’t have enough time in the day to get jerked around.

Stuck Spots

There are stuck spots in this game. Usually they don’t matter much, because we can use Waypoints or log out and in without penalty. In Personal Story, these options are not available, and it can be very frustrating to have to start a mission over because of a bug.

In another game I used to play, there is a command “/stuck” that will teleport a player to a particular spot depending on the mission. The Personal Story already has a system where player characters that have died can go back to a previous point, all that needs to be added is letting player character who are alive do so. It is easy to prevent abuse: a character in combat cannot use the command.

AVG Request

Hello!

After having played this game for months through several patches etc., my free AVG suddenly decided today that the GW2 program had a virus and deleted the program. In looking through the forums I have found that mine is not an isolated case, and I have to download 18 GB again without cause.

My request is that a sticky topic or other persistent notification be made to users that they DO NOT USE AVG.

Thanks!

It was a mistake I was making: there’s one section for email address, and one section for account name which is also an email address. I had been putting the old one in both, but I tried putting the new one in the first section and it worked out just fine.

Thanks for all your help, everyone!

Thank you, Ms. Gray, but I’ve done that twice with no response. Going through it again, I notice that the URL lists it as “anonymous_requests”, is that supposed to happen? I don’t see any place to log in in the support section.

Astral, I’ve gone through that page and nothing helped. AVG does a sweep of my computer every day and hasn’t found anything in months.

I’m getting into the game fine, I just can’t receive any emails from Guild Wars because the actual email account no longer exists. That’s why I want to change the email linked to the account.

I haven’t gotten any emails on the new email account, the one whose address I put in the body of the ticket thing. I’ve checked spam, social, and promotions.

Hello!

My email account was recently compromised, so I deleted it. It didn’t occur to me until after I did this that I would have to change my email on my Guild Wars 2 account. I went into the “Support” tab on the Guild Wars 2 site, submitted a request including my new email account, and… nothing.

So a couple weeks later I submitted another request and… nothing. It’s been another week.

I also can’t find anyway to track the progress of the tickets I submitted. When I click on “my account”, the only things I see are Edit Profile, Download Client, Security, and Upgrade or Link Accounts.

I don’t have any idea what’s going on, and that’s concerning. Has anyone else ever experienced this situation? I really really like this game, but if my account gets lost somehow I’m not starting from scratch, and I worry that being stuck with a dead email makes it more likely to lose my account.
