Condition Damage in PvE Overview

-snip- That new condition could be really powerful, and with stacks up to 100.

There can be no more stacks, because it adds to server costs.

Server costs? it is just another Bleed. If you want to see “server costs” go to WvW T1 after reset, a chaos of 240 players all on bleed. And I am talking about just one PvE enemy with one new condition.

I’m just saying that that’s what A-net has told us. Can’t be bothered to find the quote from 2012, sorry.

I am not saying that their explanation would make any sense or be coherent with other things they do.

Well written, thank you. I agree with you. The devs should definately do something about this.

That being said, I don’t think that A-net has any intention whatsoever to make any changes to conditions, or on any other substantial system or game feature. If, and that is a big if, A-net was to do something about conditions, they would make a Black Lion Trading Post item that costs 800 gems and lets you have 30 stacks of bleeding. For 1 hour.

3906 hours played on warrior, can anyone beat that? Just curious…….

I certainly hope not, since that is approximately 10,7 hours a day. I don’t want to preach or judge you, but man, that is too much! Think about what you could have done with that time. Will you think on your death bed: “Man I wish I could have played more Guild Wars 2”? I think not :P

Concerns About Future Ascended Armor

Nah, ArenaNet will just get to sell a lot of lvl 80 transmute stones at the gem store. People will keep their unique looks. The transmute stone lets you separately pick the appearance, the stat package, and the rune/gem.

While lot of people (myself included) are indeed interested in arnor looks for purely cosmetic reasons, there is equally big group that wants to show off theiraccomplishments that way. All those people that claim that cultural armor must cost a lot, or it won’t be as cool are not going to convert their ascended looks into something cheaper. In the end, unless something changes, lot of the “elite” grinders are going to end up looking exactly the same.
At least they will have the option to change their colour sets.

I have to comment now, because I am one of those people who think that cultural armor should be difficult to obtain, just like the best looking armors (in my opinion) in GW1 was.

That being said, I would definately transmute the sats of my ascended armor into my cultural tier 3 armor, if I find cultural armor to look better.

So please, do not speak about “all those people

If you don’t think T3 Cultural Armor is “difficult to obtain” at 119g, you have an absolutely worthless definition of “difficult to obtain”, I would suggest. What armour set is harder to obtain in GW2?

What? I don’t even… Maybe you should read the relevant posts again?

What I was basicly saying, was: “I think tier 3 should be difficult to obtain and still I think that I would transmute the future ascended items’ stats to my existing tier 3 looks”. I said that because he said: “All those people that claim that cultural armor must cost a lot, or it won’t be as cool are not going to convert their ascended looks into something cheaper.

P.S. I’m not sure if this is relevant considering my point, but I do think 119g can be difficult to obtain (plus then the fine transmutation stones).

I love the new AC Some encounters are a bit tough to pull off with pick up groups, but they are really good with an organized team. I think ANet did a good job with AC.

The best part is that now even pugs want to kill Kholer, because he’s easier

Kholer was never hard, the animation he does in preparation to shoot the pull wire was blatantly obvious. It is silly though how it’s a guarantee’d death if you get hit by it. Bravo to balance, typical ANet lazy design. That’s the crap that make people not enjoy the encounters and simply skip it.

Yes, it was never hard. You just need to dodge. That has not changed, but nowadays if you fail the dodge, it’s not insta-death anymore. That was my point. I’ve done it many times now with pugs where people fail to dodge, but do not die.

AC is insane now.

Why does bleeding stack to only 25?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Libertine.1047

Libertine.1047

To answer your question: Bleeding stacks only to 25 for financial reasons. Every stack and every tick costs (server costs). They could balance bleeding so that everyone would have their separate bleed stacks of 25, but they won’t because that would make the server costs higher.

This is from an interview I read a while back, but cannot be kitten to search and link it, sorry

Story Mode dungeons = solo-able

Libertine.1047

I whole-heartedly agree with the idea to make story missions soloable. It is a real chore to get a group for them (even from gw2lfg).

Another option would of course be to award story mode dungeons with tokens. Not sure which option would be better in the end, but I think something has to change

P.S. I actually left the game for a month because I couldn’t find anyone to do CM story and got frustrated on my first character.

And yes, I do want my ascended items without “work”, since I do not play games to work. I work to work, and play to play, if you get my drift I don’t need to get them immediately, but I do want a lot of different stat combinations (so many ascended pieces of the same item type) and with laurels that’d take me… about… the whole year

I want to enjoy the game content (for example wvw), not a shallow grind for stats.

Oh kitten I thought I was being funny by making a completely stupid suggestion and by that pointing out how annoying the way is that the ascended gear has been introduced.

Wreckdum pretty much pointed out why ascended gear is relevant in WvW, so I won’t repeat it.

I sincerely hope that ANet gives ascended gear for the badges we have and DO NOT give us (yet) another new currency.

Libertine.1047

In my opinion, as of right now, Guild Wars 2 does not have enough different kinds of currencies to keep the players playing. So, that got me thinking… ANet is going to implement ascended items in to WvW sometime, so there could be a great opportunity to introduce the players with….

[PRISTINE Badges of Honor]!!!

They would be ultra rare and the players could only get one of them per 10 hours as a drop from Dolyaks!

The costs could be like: Ascended boots = 100 [Pristine Badges of Honor] (this is just an example).

Another way to introduce these could be having different Pristine Badges of Honor for different armor pieces. For example Pristine Badge of Boot Honor.

There, make it happen!

Yet bashing anything that’s not a human believing in the 6 gods and crawling for the established dictatorship is just fine?

I’m not quite sure if I follow you here. Where did that come from? I personally think that mindlessly bashing anything is and ought to be morally illegimite behaviour. Pacifism is a respectable and coherent stance or life philosophy, but in my humble opinion it’d make a terrible mmo.

Yes, because killing rabbits is a severely greater wrong than killing a person? You know, all the bandits are people too! Maybe some of them were forced into robbery due to some unknown and weird circumstances. Or something. And, again, why is killing a rabbit a worse thing than killing a lizzard? Rabbits are even tastier.

Libertine, I do try to avoid as much damage as I can. I know I’ll never be a true tank or healer in the trinity sense, but I did roll guardian to protect people. Finding the optimal balance between damage output, utility, and survivability will probably take a long time (and vary according to situation), and I’m okay with that, I just know that if I have to pick one of the three as a starting point, I prefer survivability.

I didn’t mean to imply that you didn’t dodge or block or anything, was speaking about it generally

It sounds like you have a pretty solid thing going on. Starting with high survivability is a good tactic. I am myself just now trying to get more damage out of my build by changing some of my armor to berserker’s pieces. Work in progress

I assume you are talking about PvE. In my opinion in PvE it’s best not to “tank” in this game. At least not in the traditional sense of facetanking.

That being said, I prefer using hammer for the great protection buff, ok damage, and combo blast finishers it brings. People should not in my opinion underestimate the hammer #2 finisher. Also I think that damage mitigation from protection buff is superior to mace healing.

As I see it, my role on the battlefield is dishing out as much damage as possible and buffing allies without dieing. Not soaking up all of the avoidable damage and tanking in the traditional sense.

For leveling purposes I would suggest GS so you can gather a mob with #5 and then spin to win But, again, it all depends on what you want to do. Just my 2 cents.

I’m actually quite surprised that people find the wurm part in the beginning that frustrating. I don’t believe it requires any nerfs at all. We usually kill some of the flowers, concentrate (call target) on one of the wurms, dps it down, continue to the next one until the boss wurm appears. When other wurms respawn, we take maybe 2 of them down and continue with the boss. I tend to move a lot around and dodge, heal, remove poison from team mates and the like. Like Oglaf said, if you get downed kill a flower. If someone else dies, don’t go res him in the aoe, let him rally from a flower.

First couple of runs it was difficult, but now it seems really easy.

Wow just checked my thread. For shame on a lot of assuming I have 0 experience with this game OR working together with people. That is the exact opposite and I am well aware of how to run a group(many raid leads in a game I wont mention here) and am extremely knowledgeable of EVERYTHING in the kittening dungeon. That does not mean it is still not stupidly difficult.

I come to you now fresh off another run with some great people. Minor hiccups here and there under my leadership. Yet we were stopped again at Ralena and Vassar boss fight. The illusionary mages that attack for 500 are near invisible and the rate at which our group remained confused (and as such taking 300 a tick for thinking about moving) was almost 100% uptime. This fight turned my smooth sailing well oiled-machine group into a babbling mess of death zergs and cries of WTFpwned

To all of you claiming this will be easy or it is easy for you while having sex with a panda with NO hands come try it with semi skilled players from 30-45(i.e. The levels this dungeon SHOULD CATER TO) and talk to me then.

Not to sound arrogant or anything, but what I gather from your post is that you “are a very experienced player and know all the boss/mob mechanics, know how to lead a group through hell and back and all” but you still fail in this dungeon with your group… So, what’s the catch? If you know everything, how come are you guys failing? I don’t get it. No condition removal? No blocks? No dodges? What? o.O It shouldn’t be that hard if you truly know everything there is to know about AC story. Still you are saying there’s nothing wrong with you, it’s the dungeon that is bad…

I don’t think it’s “all luck and no skill”. I wish all the dungeons were a lot more difficult.

Ignoring Ascended Tier

I’m all for new dungeons, and all for the idea of a seemingly bottomless dungeon where every level is more difficult than the last one. I even like the new fractal maps. I also really enjoy challenge in games in general.

This new system just makes the challenge be more about gear than actual player challenge. I don’t think that grind equals challenge, grind is just a useless and boring time sink. I had a blast in the Realm of Torment in GW1. There was no gating content via heavy stat/resistance grind.

I’m going to ignore all this ascended gear for now. I cannot be bothered to start the grind. I’m choosing to skip the FotM for now. It was fun, but I don’t want to invest that much time in it. Hamsters can have it :P

I’ll try to have fun in the game with my sub-par-to-be exotics.

The new dungeon is great, I would have played it every now and then with enjoyment. But I’m not gonna farm it for 200 hours. There was no need to make a stat carrot. I will not join the donkey wagon.

Gosh. There’d still be time and means to reverse this, but alas we can be 100% sure that our concerns will go unnoticed.

It’s really good that we got a new dungeon and new content. The way they were introduced sucks.

If we suppose just for an argument’s sake that there really was a gap between exotic and legendary items, it would have been completely ok to introduce ascended items that did not affect stats. It would have been super easy too. Just make the ascended items really cool looking and have the innate stats of exotic+soccetables, then have the infused slot ONLY give agony resistance (not other stats). Why on earth did ANet think that giving ascended gear better stats was important? It only makes problems, not solve them.

Pwetty pwease, make the ascended items to be on par with exotics. There would still be a drive to get the new gear for the dungeon or cool looks. I really think that it would be pretty easy to fix right now in a way that wouldn’t hurt any of the playerbase. It would still gate the content deeper in the dungeon, but I for one wouldn’t mind that much, for I could just skip the dungeon anyways.

This is my very first post on these forums, take of it what you will. Just wanted to /sign the negative feedback in this topic.

I, too, find the talk about “an equipment gap” strange. As I see it, there was no gap – before this patch anyways. It’s strange that someone would fill an imaginary gap by making a real one, but now there is a stat gap between several eq tires. And will be even more of these stat gaps in the future thanks to the treadmill.

Conserning people “hitting the legendary wall”… At least I chose this game BECAUSE I thought that there would always be a fixed wall (statwise). Why not only add more content without the generic non-innovative treadmill? I absolutely loved how GW1 worked: about 8 hours (depending on the starting continent) to get to the max level, and then just enjoy the story and missions, exploring and getting neat looking armors (that do NOT affect gameplay).

I’m afraid that GW2 is going to be just another generic you-know-what. I bought this game because I don’t like generic mmos.

Just my 2 cents.
