That is about $400 on a gold site.
I really hope you mean gem to gold conversion or you may be finding yourself at the bad end of a banhammer soon for admitting that you use gold sites. :/
No, he didn’t. Also he didn’t admitt to anything, checking gold prices isn’t illegal and he didn’t say anything about buying.
He’s advertising gold seller prices. He might not be buying, but he’s specifically saying to the forums “this is how much a legendary will cost if you go to a gold seller”. I’m pretty sure that’s a bannable offense, and if not, it should be.
Please refrain from posting in my thread if you are a legitimate and certifiable kitten No one is advertising gold buying. I am stating how much a gold buying website would charge for the gold required to get a legendary item. Stating that a Big Mac costs $2.50 in McDonalds does not mean I am advertising McDonalds.
In fact, I am suggesting that changing the legendary components to not be gold would put an end to the majority of gold buying, but you are too much if an impulsive, idiotic child to understand that.
As for the badges, well I’ve never met a person who earns 225 badges in 3 hours of zerg balling, and even if that was possible, it would imply that all of your WvW experience includes massive zergballing against unskilled opponents where you essentially just farm badges. Now, I conceded that 770 badges may be too low of a number, but 25 badges per clover or 1925 badges in total seems completely fair. I have participated in WvW more than 95% of this game and maybe in total, I have a little over 2000 badges, which would be less than the badges required for the legendary considering the Gift of Battle is another 500.
The farmers are killing servers. They only farm Cursed Shore and do not participate in WvW. They don’t want to pay repairs and they never buy siege all for the sake of saving money. And they aren’t even wrong, siege prices and repairs build up, I myself have probably spent about 70g in total for those and I am not even a commander or in charge of a large guild. I’m just a dedicated WvW player.
100 badges per clover is ridiculous. No one gets 770 badges from 5 hours of zerg balling. 25 badges per clover might be reasonable as the total would be 1925 badges, which is quite a lot. Any reasonable player would have never gotten that many badges on all of their characters combined.
To get that many Fractal relics in a reasonable amount of time, someone would have to become fairly high level in their fractal runs, which demonstrates that they’re a well rounded player who can follow directions as well.
The going price for a legendary is between 1500-1900 gold on my server. That is about $400 on a gold site. I’m a full time college student, so I make only $12/hour clean at my job. That’s 34 hours of work for a legendary at the current rate. For some people, its 20 hours or less of work.
You cant buy karma. You cant buy badges. You cant buy fractal relics.
The karma requirements could be raised to make it difficult enough. The ectos generally have to be obtained with gold and the charged lodestones are almost always obtained with gold.
Theoretically, you can just farm them for weeks on end, but that’s equivalent to paying gold, and gives people the ability to buy gold and obtain those items with ease. A lot of legendaries are obtained through people buying gold.
In addition, those requirements keep people out of WvW.
I play on a crap server where people are more concerned about farming gold than doing WvW.
To craft Sunrise, I need all of the required gameplay items such as the Gift of Battle, Gifts of Exploration and various karma rewards, but I also need around 900 gold.
900 Gold is something that is unattainable for me, because I spend the majority of my time doing WvW to make my server better. A lot of money is spent on repairs or siege equipment so that my garbage server has somewhat of a chance in battles.
I have over 1500 Badges of Honor in total, over 1,000,000 karma and about 25 unused karma jugs, the gift of exploration, over 400 skill points etc. These are heavy achievements that very few people, even those with legendaries, have.
What I don’t have is the precursor, the icy runestones and the huge amounts of ectos and lodestones I need to finish Sunrise. Those items are unattainable for me because I do not buy gold, nor do I spend days on end farming Cursed Shore as does the majority of my server. Unfortunately, farming ruins the game for most people because grinding is boring and it hurts the server in WvW, which in my opinion is the most important part of the game and the sole reason GW2 is such a good game compared to other MMORPGs.
My suggestion is as follows: The precursor should be purchasable for 2,500,000 karma. This would increase the Karma requirement of the legendary to ~3,700,000 karma. The precursor can still be purchased for gold, but now there is also a karma option.
There should be a new component called “Gift of Obsidian”, which requires 400 obsidian shards. This will replace the 250 obsidian shards included in the Gift of Mastery.
There should be another new component called “Gift of the Mists” which requires 2000 fractal relics. This will replace the lodestone component of the legendary.
Magic clovers should retain their luck component but in addition, each magic clover should be purchasable for 25 badges of honor, for a total of 1925 badges of honor for 77 mystic clovers. A magic clover could also be purchased for 10,000 glory each.
The Gift of Might and the Gift of Magic will turn into the Gift of Might and Magic which will require a quest chain to complete. One unique quest chain for physical damage legendaries, and another unique quest chain for magical damage legendaries.
The Gift of Metal is relatively cheap and will stay. The Gift of Light will require the same materials but instead of the lodestone requirement, the Gift of the Mists will be used.
The Icy Lodestones will be replaced with the Gift of Slaying, which is crafted using 50 crystals, a Fang of Jormag, a Scale of the Shatterer and an Eye of the Sunless, items obtained at a 30% chance from killing the dragon world bosses.
Anything not mentioned remains the same. This suggestion would apply to all legendaries in a similar manner even though this specific guide only concerns Sunrise. Legendaries should be based around hard work and dedication, not mindless farming in Cursed Shore or gold buying.

Save Yourselves has a fairly low cooldown, has swiftness, and has every other boon which works very well for cycling cooldowns.
In SPvP, you have the trait Purity, you have the Signet and you have Contemplation of Purity which are 3 condition removers. In addition, Judge’s Intervention and Stand Your Ground are stun breakers. You don’t need more condition removers than that and if you get more condition removers, you are sacrificing a lot of damage.
Save Yourselves is used for group play because with 2 condition removers, you have more much condition reduction than anyone else in your group so they need it, as well as the buffs provide you with a way to survive any condition you happen to take.
Most of the time in WvW, I can pick up 16 stacks of bleed or 25 stacks of vulnerability off someone who is going to die, and I immediately lose the condition because of my passive removers.
You only have one condition remover maybe two can’t tell if you’re using purity. Both are passive. Also using Save Yourselves so you’re going to draw conditions, and have only have one or two condition removers for WvW.
Bad idea.
Two condition removers. The signet and the purity trait. Using contemplation of purity in WvW is viable but Save Yourselves is better. I have never had trouble with conditions yet.
Here is the build I use. Now, I’ve tried many Guardian builds and while some builds may excel slightly in one niche area, they fail miserably in all other departments. This build does absolutely everything well; PvE, WvW, SPvP and several weapon sets.
10/25/30/0/5 Is the build. Altruistic healing is used.
For PvE: Greatsword/ Scepter + Torch
For PvP: Hammer/Staff
Gearing:
All armor should be: Power/Toughness/Vitality (I like to use Runes of the Wurm but Divinity Runes may be better)
Weapon should be Power/Precision/Critical Damage for PvE and Power/Toughness/Vitality for PvP.
For SPvP, use Soldier’s Amulet
For Accesories, use all Power.Precision/Critical Damage accessories except for one ring, which should be power/toughness/vitality.
My stats are 3088 attack power, 2865 armor, 68% critical damage, 49% critical strike chance.
Your attacks should be:
Healing Signet
Judge’s Intervention
Stand Your Ground
Save Yourselves (For PvE and WvW)
Contemplation of Purity (For SPvP)
This is, in my experience, the best possible guardian build there is for all aspects of the game.

Were pounding down on everyone in WvW. Sorrow’s Furnace ftw.
I wish there was some way to compel people to do WvW over here on SF. Terror[TG] is the only guild that does WvW together and everyone else is too busy concerned with Plinx or other idiotic PvE content when those people should just be playing WoW if that’s why they’re here.
It is difficult to do much when there is a huge PvE player drain in WvW which makes pvp participation pathetically low. When we manage to get a group going, we get things done, but those accomplishments rarely last when there are no other guilds to maintain any sort of defense overnight or during the afternoon when normal people are working or attending school/college.
