Quick update: An Anet dev hopped onto the map and reset it. After jumping back into Deso, the event was working perfectly and we made a kill some time later.

Edit: Great work, Anet. Thanks. =D

Wurmslayer Achievement Bug

Same problem here.

Fought at Amber wurm, killed Amber wurm (Desolation fight like nine hours ago). No progression on Wurmslayer title track. There were quite a few people that mentioned the same problem on Map.

As far as I could see, only people at Amber had this problem. No one mentioned not getting progression on other wurms (or I missed the message/they didn’t say).

[API APP] Windows Phone 8 Dynamic Events App

That’s a really nice app. I’ve only spent a few minutes playing with it so far, but I look forward having a little screen beside me displaying active content to head to, or an alternative to GW2stuff.

There are a few things that would (for me anyway) make it nicer though.

A way to set a default server, to skip one of the screens when starting the app,
Being able to disable certain content (like all non-active events for example),
And finally, when you click on an event it would be great if it gives some information such as location.

The first two I have no clue how to do, it will be specific to coding for WP8 I expect, but the third, you could possibly do by fetching data from GW2W, or having a full pre-loaded gw2 map and selecting an event would load some x-y position on the map… Just something to make it a bit easier to find the events.

One last thing; your app isn’t appearing in the store when I search it on my phone. I had to go through internet explorer and click the link you posted here to download it. I’m in Australia, so maybe the localisation is messing with it.

Great job on the app, keep up the good work.

PS: Oh! One last thing that would be fantastic; a tick box for events so I can say “Yep, I’ve killed Jormag today, no need to repeat that boss.” Possibly having it reset with the daily…

Incorrect Weapon Positioning

Link.4607

Nightarch.2943’s idea of being able to position our own weapons sounds like an awesome solution. It’d be great to be able to move them ourselves (within reasonable constraints). Would help also for roll-playing. A more realistic character would have the weapon more centered, while a fantasy styled acrobat might have a massive hammer hanging off of one shoulder. Hopefully this isn’t something that requires serious coding to implement and we can have.

Australia frequently has terrible lag. It’s a big issue with almost all MMO’s (be better than them, ANet <3)

This being said, other countries have bad lag too. Though Australia is probably one of the best known for it’s terrible lag, as the country holds a sizable portion of the player base (generally, anyway). More people to complain about the lag. For me, the lag has only recently gotten really bad and made the game unplayable sometimes (I play from Australia, on an upper-end connection). The lag is zone dependent. I could have intense lag in Queensdale, leave and go to LA or something, and have no lag. Or visa versa.

I’ve been getting a tonne of lag lately, making GW2 completely unplayable. I’ll use a skill, and it won’t activate for another twenty seconds or so. It’s zone specific, but the zones change. It also seems to depend on who I’m in the zone with. When I team up with a guildie from France (I’m on Desolation) in FotM I get huge amounts of lag making it unplayable (generally when I’m in a pug it’s lag free). This is also true for PvP. But in LA I’m almost always lag-free. Usually when I go to the dragon events the lag starts up again. This started I think less than a week ago, but my memory is quite bad when it comes to judging time.

I’m reluctant to post in this thread, as there have been hundreds of posts, but the devs have only posted one reply. It feels like this thread doesn’t get checked… Hopefully it does, and there are just no posts as they’re all off fixing stuff.

Possibly Unused Fractal

only thing i can think of is that hut at the end of the swamp lvl where you either get the huntsman or the tree creature. this might be the huntsman’s cabin or something. its pretty cool you were able to see all of this

I considered that, but the walk felt too far for it to be more of the swamp world. The textures also look much too big to be his house. Scale is really hard to see without a moving picture. That big box also didn’t really fit in with the Swamp fractal…
——————————————
I’m not sure how to reply to more than one comment at once. =(

It might be the dredge fractal, but it seems a weird shape for that. The dredge fractal had lots of passages and stuff, whereas this is just one big section… It also doesn’t really explain what that dome/cube thing is (they definitely appear to be on the same map).

Limbo is very cool. They must have added an invisible floor to stop people accessing it (which is what I landed on). However Minion of Vey’s comment makes it sound as though the ‘invisible floor’ is only there in some areas.

Sadly I only took one other screenshot. I was a little distracted describing it to my party on Teamspeak. It’s pretty much the exact same, just looking to the left a bit more. I couldn’t get any closer because of the invisible walls. I’ll head back there now and see if I can repeat it.

Possibly Unused Fractal

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Link.4607

Link.4607

While playing around earlier today, my lag skyrocketed when I entered Fractals. This has been happening a bit lately, so I’ve just been enjoying it for its exploration perks. I become immune to all fall damage, mobs don’t chase me (because I’m not actually there), traps won’t slow me, and so on.

The first fractal turned out to be the Collosus, which was fortunate, as when the lag kicked in, it seemed the perfect time to explore below the floating island.

I jumped off the side and fell for a surprisingly long time. Hitting an invisible ground, I got up and explored. My map stopped reporting my location properly, so direction was quite hard to figure out (read: impossible). What I like to pretend was West, was the swamp fractal. I hit an invisible wall on my way to it (I was still a few klicks vertical of the swamp, so all I could really see was outlines). Turning left, and continuing in that direction until the next invisible wall lead me to a fractal I haven’t seen before. I took some screenshots before disconnecting completely.

Sadly I didn’t turn off post-processing before disconnecting, so the screenshots aren’t the best possible quality.

Anyone have any guesses as to what it could be? On the left there’s some sort of tower with a bowl cut out of the top… On the right there’s a giant… house type thing. The meshing looks fleshy. Does anyone have any theories? It would be nice to fall down again and explore some more.

As a side note: my lag is zone-exclusive. I was in WvW minutes before, no lag. Then LA, no lag. The instant I zoned into Fractals the lag started. I also had lots of lag in the cursed shore.

You cannot use transmuted items for mystic forge recipes.

This isn’t entirely true. I can’t say for all recipes, but I combined my Endless Quiver with my Mad King’s Diary (or whatever it was called), and then later used the infusion recipe to upgrade it to the infused form. Not all recipes are stopped by using transmuted goods.

Dolyak Chest reward bug (didn't got it in my bag)

You have to pick one, if you just click accept it seems to automatically take the first one (lower ranked). I made the same mistake at 9 and 19 as well >.<

I’m not entirely sure this is true… I made this mistake with the first one (r9/10) and figured “Oh, I must just have to pick one.” When I made it to 19, I tried to pick the higher rank chest, but couldn’t select either of them. The way they popped up was as though I was supposed to receive both chests. When I hit accept, only the lower rank chest appeared in my inventory.

I was under the impression that ‘survive 50 rounds,’ you just had to not fail. My team failed the first run. No one had any idea what was going on. But I still got ~7/50 in that track. The next time through it it went straight to 8/50. So we didn’t even have to do it all in one bout.

There are five rounds (or whatever they were called) per level. Even if you die, as long as the team doesn’t lose you’ll get another point.

Dungeons for solo players

Link.4607

I sort of agree with OP (sort of in that I’m not as interested in loot). I would really enjoy some solo dungeons. Loot would be nice, but one-man dungeons would be great even without it. Just something I could go into and play. It would be fantastic to have something like a spelunking expedition, uncovering some lore based stuff connecting GW1 and 2, or about the less popular races and beasts (dredge, giants, Orr, etc.).

Or perhaps something similar to Fractals, where the challenge would be to see how far you can make it. How good you personally are against an endless horde. Sort of like the little bonus missions in Kurzick and Luxon land in GW1. Or in Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, where on your home island you could lift up a boulder and fight huge numbers of enemies for a small reward.

You should re-think that statistic. It isn’t true that ‘most people’ don’t use 1-0 as their skill keys. I asked my guild of 42 people online, two said they used non-default. No one I know IRL uses non-default key binds for the skills.

You can also bind actions to more than one key, as a temp-fix, so you won’t have to re-bind them later (assuming you don’t have anything new keyed to the numbers).

Definitely spending money again. I put $10 on my girlfriends account, so she could buy the witches outfit, and $20 on my account, so I could buy a witch costume and some chests.

I received junk from the chests, but it was awesome. A week long event, new content, titles, achievements, jump puzzles, PvP stuff, events, dungeons. Fantastic. Chests are optional. It bothered me immensely seeing all the people complain that they gambled and lost on the chests.

Definitely spending more at Christmas. It’s a one time payment game, I see no reason not to put a little bit of money in every now and then for something I play so often. Fantastic job, ANet.

Elementalist Auto-Rez From Downed State

While PvPing earlier, I saw a few elementalists I’d downed use their downed Mist Form skill to hop back up, run a short distance… Then just keep on running. They never returned to their downed state. They’d just leave their mist form and go back to being alive again, with ~50% health. No one was rezing them. No one was around to use signets. I saw this happen quite a few times, and it was the same every time.

Anyone else hate the story telling?

in Lore

Link.4607

At first, I was the same as OP. I didn’t much like the way the story was presented visually. But the more I played, I found the story was very well told (if perhaps a little unemotional at times) and extremely enjoyable. GW2 had the best story I’ve ever seen in an MMO. There are offline games that do it better, I agree, but GW2 is an MMO. An MMO that gives me freedom, and when I play through the storyline it does actually feel like a story I’m in control of, not just being wheeled through.

The story in GW1 was really cool from what I read on the old wiki. But I had to read it there. I always skipped the cutscenes ‘cause I’d get bored. The dialogue is in and out in these cutscenes, and then back to the game. They even give you the option to skip them, and just read the dialogue in the chat box.

TL;DR: GW2 stories are very well told, but not very visually stimulating (which already has a solution).

Heum yes it does have something to do with your personal story.
For me, in the Durmand Priory Storyline, when i had to defeat a champion of Zaithan, i passed through a ritual wich transformed me into an avatar of the god i chose. In my case, Balthazar. Really awesome skills and appareance.
So yup.
It probably has something else to do with them, I just don’t know yet.

This is just a fluke, I think. Unless I’m mistaken; I picked Grenth as my God. I was Balthazar for this quest.

Hounds of Balthazar deals massive damage and is AoE. The CD seems reasonable to me. As a human necro, it’s by far my best damage dealing elite elite available to me. When I use it, it easily wipes out any non-boss mob I’m fighting.

Seeing map/armors/stuck/weapons or other art issues?

Armour: xxx, Location acquired (additional details)

Head: Carrion Acolyte Mask of the Traveler, Trading Post. (level 71)
Shoulders: Explorer’s Exalted Mantle of the Traveler, Crafted myself. (level 80)
Chest: Berserker’s Acolyte Coat of the Traveler, Trading Post (level 70)
Gloves: Carrion Acolyte Gloves of the Traveler, Trading post (level 71)
Leggings: Berserker’s Acolyte’s Pants of the Traveler, Trading Post (level 78)
Boots: Knight’s Feathered Boots of the Traveler, Crafted myself. (Level 80, also merged with level 80 Exalted Boots that I crafted).

Problems: Seen in gw064.jpg, the boots sometimes display the wrong dye colour (they’re meant to be totally black near the top) and my characters legs are seen clipping through the boots. The dye thing seems to mess up when I take off and put on my pants a few times… Unsure exactly what causes it. Re-equiping doesn’t help.

Seen in gw063.jpg: If I take off my pants (maybe they were broken or something) my character has an obvious ‘cut’ separating the top and bottom half. Also my shoulderplate on the left of the image is seen clipping quite severely with my armour. It’s less obvious because of the dyes picked (I remembered about this just before hitting submit).

Seen in gw063 and gw066.jpg: My mask clips with my hair and collar. My eyebrows also clip through the mask.

Seen in gw067: Hard to show this one… I dyed it green to make it easier to see. When my character moves (emulated by spinning him in the Hero window) my dress-thing sways and clips with my leg. You can also see the colour my boots usually are (compared to their appearance in gw064.jpg).

Thanks.

Note: The armour is very sexy, and I just wanted to say thank-you. Thank you Areananet, for making me sexy on the Internet.

A.

The idle lines are nice, as they’re random and you don’t usually hear them too frequently (and are often quite funny or interesting).

The main problem for me is when I spend a great deal of time standing still. This is either while crafting or the Black Lion Company. Perhaps just remove the quotes from happening around the crafting areas, or make them character specific.
