I think it depends on the tree it’s in. If D/P thieves found it conveniently placed they could abuse it for even more permastealth and black powder spamming; having an even more endless initiative pool.
I’m quite envious of the male’s Krytan coat. It looks so much better than the Krytan corsete I get!
My Thief, now immortalized by a paintbrush.
That’s really good! It quite nearly matches everything ingame. It’s the first time I’ve actually liked the appearance of Bolt. Do you (or the person who drew this) have a Deviantart account?
Scouting and escaping. Harassment.
The downside is that I can’t really 1vX against larger numbers anymore.
Then again, should any class be able to?
I absolutely agree to some extent. The things in which a thief could do to a large group of players was pretty ridiculous.
The thing is, most of those good 1vX videos were against bad/unaware players. I have seen similar warrior videos where I warrior goes into a zerg, trounces a few people, then escapes. I’ve seen a video where 4 staff Ele’s kill an entire 30 person zerg by slowly kiting them. I guess it’s just that the thief mechanics made it much easier to do such things against unaware players.
Speaking of combos and weapon chains, I think it would be kind of cool if they made it a bit like Devil May Cry. Give us a damage bonus if we string together different attacks, but give us a damage penalty for overuse of the same move within a limited timeframe.
I’ll start off by saying I only play WVW. I used to run Valk gear permastealth/sustained variants of 0/30/30/10/0 or 0/10/30/30/10. After the 4 second revealed nerf, I said eff it and changed to full zerker gear 118% crit dmg with scholar runes. 25/30/0/15/0. (Can’t give up fleet shadow, and love 3 dodges.) Swiftness on dodge and fleet shadow make it so I can live without SoS to free up another utility slot for something more useful. This is my first time doing it, but now I instagib people with mug/C&D/BS combo before they even figure out what’s going on. I’ve hit with backstabs as high as 16k and HS as high as 10k. I’ve even beat some bunkers who complimented me and asked for more duels, but I run away from fights that are too strong for me and choose my battles carefully, dying maybe once every 2 hours. It’s pretty satisfying. The downside is that I can’t really 1vX against larger numbers anymore. I can’t say I’m totally happy with the changes but if Anet wanted to pigeonhole us into this playstyle; I’ll happily roll with it.
I’ve played thief since beta and I’m still happy with the class. It’s the only class I really know how to play.
Pros: I can do high burst, 15k backstabs, and kill people before they can react. Unlike other classes that spec glass cannon, I have the tools needed to escape after a burst killing.
Cons: A pair of elementalists can ride the lightning me from 1200 yards away, tracking me into stealth, instantly killing me if I don’t dodge correctly.
This twitchy, walk-on-eggshells style of play is what makes me like the class so much. I’ve adapted, and continue to learn. I think this class is still strong and very playable.
Assuming you wear all green level 12 gear at level 12, the scaling works so it’s like being 80 in full 80 greens. (sans traits) You can be somewhat competitive. The problem is that you’ll level in wvw that you will need new gear constantly.
That warrior was very skilled; nice use of weapon swapping and all skills.
My thief Miwh~~
So pretty! Who needs stealth when you have camouflage!
This sounds like a funny idea, but it’s not foolproof. Sharp eyed players will be able to spot the difference between you and your pets. Your name will read “ServerX Defender/Invader” and your pets will read “ServerX Beast”.
Good video, thanks for the laughs and entertainment! I wish the zergs I fought against were this oblivious.
It’s why these threads are so pointless.
Agree, because some people might be using all gemstones (orbs) instead of runes, whereas different runes grant different bonuses in lieu of losing raw stats. Divinity runes or orbs could be use to ‘pad’ a stats setup.
Here’s my hybrid. Not total glass but not exactly squishy either. I guess I fall more on the offensive side. I don’t like that my precision is unusually low compared to everything else but food and sigil cover that gap.
I really like the look on Moonshank and Malefactrym (sp?)
It’s 77 clovers, not 250, no? I don’t mind that getting a legendary is so difficult. It’s a fun goal to slowly work toward.
