I think you read that a little too quickly and came to an opinion before understanding what was being said.
Let me break this down a bit for ya…
“We aren’t terribly picky about what profession you are, but we do ask that you be able to survive through the fights while providing good DPS.”
Basically what is being said here is that we aren’t going to judge you based on your class. We have run Arah with a Ranger and an Ele who could both handle themselves well and there was no problem getting the job done and fast, so therefore we would rather judge people on their ability to play rather than what profession they chose to master.
It sounds like you might be under the impression that only the so-called zerg group of warr/guard/mesmer can run Arah quickly, but that is not true.
We want good DPS and don’t need people so squishy that they fall over dead if the boss sneezes in their direction, thus the “be able to survive” part of that.
“We do like to be efficient and DPS bosses/mobs quickly, but we are very patient and know that not every run goes perfectly smooth (we’re all human).”
Not only did you take this completely out of context, but apparently when you read this your brain somehow came to the conclusion that we want/don’t mind 3 hour Arah runs. Quite the contrary. All that is being said here is that we are not going to start screaming and having a fit the second someone makes a mistake.
Hope that clears things up.
As the title suggests, we are looking for 3 people that would like to run Arah p2 and p3 on a nightly basis.
What we would like to find are 3 friendly people that work well in coordinated groups and have at least a little experience in Arah. We don’t mind doing a bit of instruction during the runs, especially if you’re willing to listen, but if this is the case we would ask that you get Teamspeak so you can join our channel for easier communication (anyone wanting to run with us is welcome to join us in Teamspeak also).
We are NOT looking for speed-runners, people in a terrible hurry screaming “nao nao nao”, farmers, or anyone who has a heart attack when the run goes over 30 minutes. We do like to be efficient and DPS bosses/mobs quickly, but we are very patient and know that not every run goes perfectly smooth (we’re all human).
We aren’t terribly picky about what profession you are, but we do ask that you be able to survive through the fights while providing good DPS. Also, please know your profession/skills.
In other words, we ask that everyone pull their weight in the squad
We are looking to do these runs every night, 1 hour after server reset (6pm server time). We are located on the NA Blackgate server.
If this sounds like something you would like to join us for, please feel free to whisper us in-game. We are both usually online every night from about 4pm server time until well after 12am server time.
Whisper if you are interested, or would just like more info:
Logan.5048 – Guardian
deathdealer.3470 – Mesmer/Warrior
Thanks for reading and hope to meet some people with this interest!
Did a quick search and didn’t see this listed in here, so maybe this hasn’t been brought up yet…
When you reach the final boss of the Underground fractal where the lava buckets are, these will lose their animation + sound during the run. This has happened the last 3 times I have gotten this path.
Each time this happened, the first 3-5 pours were just fine (had animation + sound) but then it just decided to stop and the only way to know if you poured was to watch the debuff on the boss to make sure it renewed.
Dwayna is essentially a DPS check. If your squad can’t lay down a lot of damage, very quickly, you will end up in that loop indefinitely. The trick is to get the elements into position as fast as possible, and then really lay down DPS when she appears.
We did p4 over the weekend and it was working fine, but I have been in groups that had this problem.
Our squad was: Guard, Warrior, Mesmer, Engineer, Ranger. So in other words you do NOT need a faceroll-squad to get this done… just good teamwork and communication.
I don’t wish to discredit what you did, but your team composition is actually quite strong, some would argue even stronger than what I assume you’re referring to as a ‘faceroll-squad’. This of course depends on what builds you ran on these professions, of course
Not saying it wasn’t a decent DPS group^ I just read a lot of posts that said “you need warr+warr+warr+guard+mesmer group to be able to do this path”. I didn’t want people thinking this was the only way to get through it
Myself and some guildies ran this tonight for some members’ DM tag, and found out about this spider issue. We wiped the first time around and then tried all sorts of strategies (none worked) before researching the issue.
We reset the dungeon and got back to the final boss. Since we read a lot of posts saying you need to DPS him down immediately from the start, that’s what we did. This worked really well, but a mis-timed shield led to us all dying… and the worst part was that the boss was literally 1-2 hits away from dying (you couldn’t even see any HP on his bar). So this IS a sound strategy.
We did not give up this time and went back in there twice, WITH all the spiders present, before getting the perfect combo to take him down:
We ran in and stacked -guard dropped wall of reflect. You must stand on the wall of reflect for it to work 360 degrees, so keep that in mind.
Guard then hit shield of the avenger, then sanctuary while our mesmer dropped TW to boost dps.
Once sanctuary was almost gone, our mesmer hit his reflect… boss was dead.
Our squad was: Guard, Warrior, Mesmer, Engineer, Ranger. So in other words you do NOT need a faceroll-squad to get this done… just good teamwork and communication.
I don’t see any reason why our AR and MF % shouldn’t be shown, in fact, I would like to be able to see these two stats for all party members.
Gear and build… No. Simply put, gear and build doesn’t necessarily make players good or bad. Knowing what to do, when to do it, and how to do it is much more important, and gear/traits wont show you this.
If you are so concerned with others’ gears and traits then I suggest you run dungeons with a group of friends/guildies/whatever that you know and trust, or request a gear ping before allowing random PUGs to enter your squad.
What is the point in having a yes/no option to allow somebody to join your party if you can’t see their class or level?
My suggestion is to let people see info on mouseover of the player portrait (same like when they join party) so the party can decide if they want this class/level to join their party or not.
this is common sense to me but I don’t know about the rest of you.
This is something I would like to see implemented as well. I think the primary argument against having a system like this is that it might promote further discrimination against some classes for dungeon/fotm runs, but in all honesty, this is something that is happening anyway. Just as it sits right now, people are getting invited to the party, then kicked, as opposed to this system where they would not even get in the party.
Sadly I didn’t get the title (shows 99% towards it) but at least you cleared up the question of where that pesky POI went. Thanks for that!
OK, I know this topic has been burned to death (I’ve read more than several posts about this), but I am at 99% world completion and showing 100% on all maps AND I was awarded my 2 Gifts of Exploration (got these with the 1 POI missing).
I did most of my map completion over the last few months, and I know some POI and WP were added in recent patches, so I made sure to go after these. Currently I am at:
301/301 hearts
512/512 Waypoints
721/722 Points of Interest
202/202 Skillpoints
266/266 Vistas
My exploration is:
175/175 Krytan Explorer
60/60 Orr Explorer
167/167 Maguuma Explorer
175/175 Shiverpeak Explorer
176/176 Ascalon Explorer
After reading some posts by others having this issue, I went back to each and every single map (including cities) and double-checked that I had all POI. I also checked out the trickier ones:
Chantry of Secrets –got this one before getting my Gifts of Exploration, so went back in to make sure this POI wasn’t still holding me up somehow.
Vigil Keep –double checked this one too.
Durmand Priory
WvW (all 3 borderlands + EB) were the last maps that I completed, and I am certain they are all 100%
I really don’t know where else to look… so I am hoping that someone out there has some ideas on this on to help me out.
+1
