WoR,WoR,SoA,WoR,WoR,SoA,WoR,WoR,SoA… literally dont even need feedback or traits to get 100% uptime. Just 2 guards…
They also had enough burst. They might not have the best might stacking abilities but they have enough burst for that low HP boss so they don’t need sustained damage. I mean, two timewarp, two tome of wrath for 10 more sec of quickness with the two guards.. if you can’t burst this down during the first wave of reflection you’re probably doing something terribly wrong like running gear that is not level appropriate (high lvl char suffer from downscaling, if you’re running anything but exotics your char will have much worse stats than a low lvl in green).
Or maybe they’re all using the wrong weapons. Like mace guardian, hammer warrior or something.

maybe they were unlucky and their SoA got killed, but even then, 2 traited walls and wardens feedback + feedback should work too
I dont think we really ran out of reflections as much as they didnt work at all. We were taking all the damage and no spiders were being killed by any of their own damage. So the room got flooded.
The only bug here is that the encounter doesn’t reset if you wipe.
The spider’s damage can be reflected, but not he recluses that spawn. If you wipe there ends up being a ton of recluses on the far side of the tree that are very hard to kill and ruin any further attempts at reflect stacking since their projectiles are NOT reflected in any manner.
Wiping should despawn any recluses that were spawned, similar to how anet fixed (or tried to fix) wiping on Cliffside at the arm seals.
Oh man, so that’s why reflects never worked for us. That needs to be fixed asap.
Endless Petrification Tonic
My guild just tried this path and even with three guardians (by the end of it) wiped hardcore about 5 times. The biggest problem as far as I can see is that whatever projectile the tree throws to spawn those spiders doesn’t leave a red AoE circle. Add one of those and this fight starts to become reasonable.
Myself and some guildies ran this tonight for some members’ DM tag, and found out about this spider issue. We wiped the first time around and then tried all sorts of strategies (none worked) before researching the issue.
We reset the dungeon and got back to the final boss. Since we read a lot of posts saying you need to DPS him down immediately from the start, that’s what we did. This worked really well, but a mis-timed shield led to us all dying… and the worst part was that the boss was literally 1-2 hits away from dying (you couldn’t even see any HP on his bar). So this IS a sound strategy.
We did not give up this time and went back in there twice, WITH all the spiders present, before getting the perfect combo to take him down:
We ran in and stacked -guard dropped wall of reflect. You must stand on the wall of reflect for it to work 360 degrees, so keep that in mind.
Guard then hit shield of the avenger, then sanctuary while our mesmer dropped TW to boost dps.
Once sanctuary was almost gone, our mesmer hit his reflect… boss was dead.
Our squad was: Guard, Warrior, Mesmer, Engineer, Ranger. So in other words you do NOT need a faceroll-squad to get this done… just good teamwork and communication.

Not saying it wasn’t a decent DPS group^ I just read a lot of posts that said “you need warr+warr+warr+guard+mesmer group to be able to do this path”. I didn’t want people thinking this was the only way to get through it
More important than DPS seems to be reflect uptime, which you had with guard and mes and I think that was the point. You can kite the spiders, but it is very, very tricky after reset. You can also condi clear / heal on the first run through if you can spike enough damage, though again it’s tricky to pull off and requires build coordination as well as strategy.
Kitting spiders is not so hard in the end, and pretty much the way to go if you can’t maintain reflect uptime
My guild can get this done pretty easy just takes a while… basically you need 1200 range so any DPS class with 1200 range will be helpful, 1 tank will help.
What you do is pull the front group and kill them and keep repeating, eventually the tree will stop spawning them OR spawn them all behind the tree, once that is accomplished range him from max range making sure not to use any aoes. (This is when more range DPS makes this faster) The only thing you need to dodge is his weird aoes that have no red circles, basically when he shakes his body you can see little pods fly up, thats to tell you to dodge. Basically thats it simple but could be long if u keep pulling incorrectly.
P.S. ranger at max range with longbow and traited will NOT work, he will keep healing because you are not close enough. (if he can’t hit you he wont go invulnerable but he also will keep healing like he was out of combat so have at least one person in combat range of 1200)

If you’re going out of your way to get specific classes, weapons or builds you should just do it the right way and get it done under 1 min in melee.

The fight is a gear/dps check plus reflects.Nothing special when you find how to do it by stacking at melee range.
It’s just like CoF P1 is repeating.

stacking at melee range requires optimal groups and good coordination… not saying it’s wrong, just saying anet really need to work on their encounter ^^
So, I just finished my second attempt at killing the boss for TA F/U and, like the first, it was a frustrating failure. Ranged attacks are barely effective because you’re always forced back by the endless wave of spiders. AND if you do manage to sneak under the boss, it’s only a matter of time til you’re surrounded by a violent gang of arachnids. HOW DO I EVEN?!
There are two ways of doing it depending on your party composition. I find it’s easiest if your party has a guardian/mesmer and is DPS-oriented. You charge in under the nightmare tree ASAP, pop up shield/wall of reflection/feedback (not all at the same time obviously) and then DPS in melee range.
If your party is like 5 necromancers and negative DPS, have the most durable party member kite the spiders round and round the tree while 4 people kill the boss. This is very slow and more dangerous as the kiter is very prone to dying, but that’s the price you pay for ‘play how you want; bring a support build with clerics gear if that’s how you want to play rainbows and unicorns carebear shine yaaaaay’.

Let me start by saying I tired it with 3 different groups before I finally got it on the fourth.
It’s not easy, the way I ended up was to have 3 people range from the entrance and 2 people fight off the adds. The normal spiders do keep spawning so you switch from ranging tree to killing adds if it becomes too much.
A few tips,
Single target range on boss. No aoe. No clones. No pets. Otherwise you may pull a lot of adds.
Dodge when the tree shakes.
It’s pretty much what everyone else mentioned. But it is doable. Just give it another go

After failing 6 or so times the other day with a pug group, i decided to look up tips to beat this boss and found a video on these forums of a guy soloing him by kiting the spiders.
I suggested it to my party and about 10 minutes later he was dead, first try. And only me and another guard were alive practically the whole time.
The trick to this method is surviving the immobi (I only got hit once) and having condi cleanser for cripple/dodge ahead of spiders. If you can do all these things you will be golden.
Having same issue as everyone, except for few things:
1. when we go into the room, it is already filled with 100 spiders (and turrets, the hell?) from all sides of the boss so reflect tactics is rather….tricky
2. NPC just instantly emo agroes them and makes it worse
3. i saw a bunch of posts about how to do it, but as guardian; but what if you are not one?
i play thief, by the time we get in melee range to a tree i am dead already; if we stealth, we die anyway, because of the spiders swarming us and turrets 2 shotting everyone as well
I tried this boss with different groups, but none seems to work; so how do you do this as thief and not guardian? Smoke screen is very long CD and works only if spiders are on one side only.
If anyone have any tipps or guides for this boss for thief, would be appreciated
P.S. killing spiders isn’t an option, by the time you killed one portion, another already respawned

Just run with other classes that have more reflects. I think it’s a good thing that there is at least one dungeon that requires a few specific classes to complete in a pug group.

-untraited smokescreen has 30s cd, duration is 7s so 23% uptime, traited, 25s cd, 28% uptime. 5 thieves, ranger, mesmer, guardian, ele can chain their reflects together and get 100% uptime. engi also has WoR/smokescreen but long cd.
-you shouldn’t be getting hit from either side if you are standing inside the black strip at the base of the smoke screen.
Run pistolwhip and reflect. You’re welcome. If you die with pistolwhip spam there is something seriously wrong with you.
The last patch made all drop down spider spawns pre spawned in all dungeons. Hope anet fix this next patch. That doesnt apply to final bosses of TA though as they are triggered by other means.

- i am not quite sure tbh, i think it would be silver spiders or turrets; the classes in naked edition were, oh surprise, mesmer and guardian

I saw a warrior and a ranger solo this using auto attack on rifle and longbow respectively. I just used my staff on my guardian and gave them might. Everyone else just kinda sat there. It took like 10 minutes, and we didn’t pull any spiders.
The hardest part of this path is getting past the swarms while covered in stealth goo, IMO.

But really, there wouldn’t be so many threads about Twilight Arbor if the search function was working.
twilight arbor isnt bad. Its finely tuned. The fight the OP is talking about is a bit redunkulous. Lots of spiders.. People try to stear clear of using AOEs but I think thats a bad strategy. THAT fight needs to be reworked a bit, but TA as a whole, any path, is fine.
Oh and Im all for all worms despawning after a wipe on the first boss.
One of the strats I heard was to make sure you have at least two classes with 1500 range attacks. Then atatck the boss from max range while the other classes take care of the spiders that spawn. This strat limits the number of spiders that spawn on you and keeps it at an acceptable rate.
But that’s all I heard, I haven’t tried it or seen it.

Strategy 2:
Make absolutely certain that the warders or the volatile blossoms outside this boss room kill Morrigu. She will spawn adds on you (since NPCs don’t dodge) and make this much more difficult. She should be dead before walking into the tree’s room.
All players should stay at max range (1200) and focus range DPS on the tree.
The tree will slam his left fist (the one on your right) onto the ground, after that he shakes his branches and green goo starts floating down. When you see him shake after the left fist slam, double-dodge. This should prevent the spider adds from spawning (you will see “evade” multiple times if you are successful).
If spider adds do spawn, you cannot ignore them. Designate 2 melee DPS people to killing the adds while the other 3 members continue ranged focus on the tree. All 5 members should still stay at max range.
Using GW2 Wiki is so hard it hurts.
Did this with a PUG, all players had brains – easy mode.
I live in Twilight Arbor, simply my fav dungeon- if you’re having a hard time in anything TA related, change your entire approach, build maybe, weapons, runes, all that jazz. The spiders can be tough, but can be bested & owned- just like Lupi in Arah. You should not ever be fully wiped in TA exception it being your 1st time with a new group.
Because redoing the whole dungeon just to have ANY chance of retrying the boss is bad.
I’m not complaining that it’s too hard (maybe just a little.) But not being about to retry the boss is just stupid. Screw up once and there is NO chance.

My most recent guild attempt didn’t have a PuG, and we completely destroyed the other paths no problem.
But our cavalier “for science” attitude lead us to rush in and try it without spending time looking it up on the wiki. We could have done it if we put up a wall, but by the time we realized, it was too late. The only solution at that point was to restart the entire instance.
We did not. For the guildies who don’t have that path done yet, they are willing to save it for last. Maybe it’ll get some sort of fix before then.

I heard of a way to recover from this situation, when he does his spider spawning animation if everyone in your party dodges twice you will get evades appear on you and no spiders will spawn. You can then keep killing the spiders left and dodging until none are left and then kill the boss. I have never done this or tried it, just read it somewhere recently
You can try with this composition : Mesmer , guardian , War ( x3 ) iz cool because u have feedback and reflection with the guardian and Time warp
