Someone else having problems with ‘Chase the Spirit in the Settlement’ in AScalon Settlement in Gendarran Fields??

I’m in the right place and it is night but the Raven still do not spawn. Other events going on in the night i spawning such as ‘Captain Graywind’ https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Captain_Greywind
but not the raven. I have been standing and waiting trough the whole night and nothing.

My guildie did the event just a couple of weeks ago and then it worked as it should… Is this a known bug?

Astral form color irritation

Lonewalker.4027

Anyone else running raids and having problems with the color of the astral forms and its skills?
When you enter astral form you turn a dark blue color and you have a pool of dark blue color under your feet when using rejuviniting tides (skill 4). The Valeguardian puts out dark blue circles which you are supposed to not stand in (take dmg and teleports away).
I don’t know how many times I have been in astral form and not been able to see if it is mine or the guardians rings… pretty irritating especially if you are supposed to stand in the green ring at the same time.

Please Anet, change the color of either astralform or the vale guardians blur rings!!

Sorry if this is already known!

I can’t refine the new slivers into fragments in mystic forge. I guess that should be possible since they seems to act just like the old slivers-fragments—-lodestones. I’ve tried with mordrem slivers and evergreen slivers, but they don’t appear in the mystic forge inventory and can therefore not be dropped in the mystic forge.

Beta Weekend Druid Feedback Thread

in Ranger

I have been playing ranger as main for 3 years (pve and www) and I love the way to play with the ranger (not just meaningless 11111, you have to manage the pet and use different weapons to be accepted/good), but compared to other classes I find it lacking in giving support to team and DPS, much like everybody else.
I was quite exited about the druid since it seemed to promise a bit more support to complement the way I play, but after a few hours with the druid in Verdent brink I’m quite dissapointed.

  • I find the way to play druid with staff very boring (in open PvE world). It is mostly 11111 and maybe the other 4 weaponskills now and then. Talk about pew pew ranger… I don’t have any need in PvE to go into astral form since the events are just too easy.
Increase the use of the other staff weaponskills in ordinary PvE by adding more damage or more boon generation to them.
  • The glyphs doesn’t add much to the gameplay. They seem to be over before I have time to notice they where there. My signets feels stronger/more useful.
  • The DPS is just very low and makes PvE boring since ‘nothing’ happens. I see no need to take the druid to open world PvE since healing is not needed there and since the difficulty of the mobs seems to be much lower in this beta I don’t see any need for it in open world HoT either.

Maybe it will have a place in harder content, but I wonder if raids is going to be so hard as we wish? Give it a couple of weeks and players would have learned how to play the content and it is not hard anymore. Just see vinewrath or fractals or ordinary dungeons. Everything is easy now and so will raids and other hard content be after a while as well.
Where I see the druid doing most success is www, but the question is if you will get any loot.

All in all I want to say that the druid is boring to play! There needs to happen more, it needs to be more mangement with the staff, not just pew pew.
In comparison I tried the reaper (I have only leveled a necro before but not played it after 80) and the reaper is fun, does damage and at least needs a little more ‘micro mangement’ among the skills not just 11111.

Feels like they are not ready with the Druid yet and everyone knows what happens when you rush software development… no testing and lots of bugs

Mordrem Invasion Update: 11 September 12:30 PM

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lonewalker.4027

Lonewalker.4027

I’ll start by saying that I have not read the whole thread here, so I’m sorry if someone else already have had these suggestions. And I know the suggestions below are very similar to Silverwaste or triple trouble.

I can only agree that this is a boring event and I totaly agree with all points Sytherek mentions in his post just in the beginning of this thread.
Boring enemies, terrible-paltry rewards for time invested…
- Needs a progression / final event like Scarlet invasions.
- Mobs should drop loot.
- Boring, repetitive, nothing but frantic running about. Boring.
- Very weak rewards. Very, very weak. Lousy, actually.
- Give credit only to people who actually participate in an event instead of rewarding those who just tag-and-run.
- The DC issue is getting worse on some systems. It is not always our internet connections.
If ANet wants GW2 to appeal to selfish farmers, they’ve done a great job.
Please fix this.
Here are some suggestion that might make the zerging less effective and maybe the event more fun. It also minimize running around like a dead hen from one event to another.

Have multiple areas in the map that needs to be defended from mordrem. It needs to be many, maybe 5 or more if it map is full, about 10-15 ppl on each event. People needs to split up and defend the area from invading mordrem. These mordrem will drop loot, but just ordinary trash/blue/a few coins.
All areas need to be defeded in order to spawn a great end boss. Participating in both defend event and boss will give greater loot, If you just jump in for the boss you won’t get any loot (somehow DC needs to be thought of but I have no suggestion how to solve that).
The length of the defend event should be no longer then 15 min. Otherwise it will quickly be boring.

It would also be great if you could add more events with puzzel solving instead of just running around killing things. Not just jumping puzzles but more lore and logic puzzles. Maybe some defend the ones trying to solve the puzzle (needs many puzzles so not everyone figures them out the first time and then it is easy peasy). The mobs could drop clues that needs to be delivered to a npc or something and the players needs to piece these clues together.
Just remember to design the puzzles so they actually need many people helping eachother instead of being done by just one person.
And more npc/mob AI would be nice, so things don’t get so repetitive.

A bit more feedback on the current event. Some bugs get very obvious:
- Targeting. Why do I target yellow stuff when there are red mobs in front of me?
- Targeting. Why target things behind me when I have mobs in front of me?
- Picking up things. If you are engaged in combat and try to pick up something (with ‘f’) shouldn’t I just pick the thing up? Right now it seems that the f-command is ingnored in most cases when you are in combat.
- showing the status of the event on map. When there are lots of events on the map and you need to make a quick decision which to wp to it would be great to shomehow show how much time is left on the event. I don’t know how many times I have wp:ed and run just to come to the event when it is just finished. This makes everyting really annoying especially when everyting is made with the core to tag as many events as possible.

This with tagging as many events as possible encourge hit and run and zerging. So please try to think one step ahead of us players when you design events. There must be quite a big experience database now from all different events in the game, maybe give a few in anet a chance to go though the experiences and try to design something that don’t repeat the failures over and over again.

Stuck at Log-In

Lonewalker.4027

This is still ongoing. Couldn’t login for about half an hour this morning. Left the game for a while and now when I tried again I could log in. The same with the guildwars2.com page. It wouldn’t load. All other internet pages would load normally. ISP:Telia… This sounds very much as all the other complaints in here and do we all have Telia? I don’t think soo… must be something else as well.

When actually able to login DC’s occure more often then not and when switching maps the loading of the new map hang and won’t load. Most often when switching to LA.

This is very annoying and has been going on since Friday afternoon/evening before that all had been very stable for me all summer. Now it is going very much up and down, sometimes you can’t login at all, then you are lucky and can play for a little while and then you DC or get stuck in loading a map and then can’t logon again.

Far Shiverpeak and Gunnars Hold servers are the same problems.

Please fix!

Now I tried the DH with traps/longbow in WWW and it was no fun at all. Way to slow and since some skills don’t trigger when you turn around or when enemies gets behind you, it is just useless. Traps doesn’t feel useful enough even if there is time to put them down in time. Dragon’s maw just do nothing at all.
After this try I would rather come on a ranger, at least I have agility and a chans to move when things hots up.

PART 2:

- Does it (the map rewards) improve the experience of gathering materials if you’re working on building items that require specific crafting materials that previously had no clear place to earn them?:
I have given some feedback about this in another post. But as a general – No.
Well it is pobably good that you can more reliably farm hard to get items like giant eyes, dyes and silver dubloons. But for example farming wool scaps it was not worth it. The return rate was way too low. In an hour I had only gotten 2 boubble thingies, given me 60 silver… In silverwaste I would have gotten at least a few wool/cotton scraps in the same time.

It will be some quite tedious farming to collect whatever is needed. Wouldn’t it be better to overall rise the droprate and be more specific (if that is the problem) of which mobs/maps the mats will drop?

We had a system before there for example dyes would drop. This was enterily removed. Why not just enter them into the loot table again (in a wider area/more mobs dropping it), but at a low possibility? The same with giant eyes.
It has worked quite well with cores/lodestones. They are now easier to loot, but not so much that they are flooding the market.

Will this get me to run the lower maps more regularly? No, only if it is my only mean to get the the mat I need. In a whole I don’t like this soloution.
To populate lower zones, the rewards need to be in the zone-level (not mainly lvl 80 gear if you are in a zone 30). this would get me running more in lower zones since I need mats for ascended… If I’m sure I’ll get wool/cotton/linen/softwood/iron ore etc when salvageing loot then I would spend more time there.
The solution now is to try to stall progression on a alt and farm as much loot as possible.

- Does it feel like it will help keep the core world we’ve built today still a place you’ll want to return to and play in, and do you feel rewarded for doing so?: No.

I also want to add that I really like the story and how voicing and storytelling is coming together. I longing to see more of the story.

Also the explainations of how to spend mastery points and how the mastery system work is now quite up to speed! Good work. The only thing I’m missing now is the explaination on HOW to train a mastery. It is not explained very well. Do I only need to grind mobs in a certain area, or do events or both? Is there some special events that will give me more training? etc.

Looking forward to playing HoT soon!!

PART 1:

- Do the elite specializations feel like they are creating an entirely new role for your main profession?: No. I main a Ranger and was playing the Dragonhunter. This very much feels like it is a ranger, just a bit slower and with more team support and no pet. Not knowing what the Druid will give, I feel that this dragonhunter would have suited a ranger version 2 instead. It would give us more team support and no pet to take care of for the cost of speed. I would very much buy that as a specialisation for the ranger, but it wasn’t as fun to play as guardian.

- Do you feel the need to use your entire skill bar in battles?: Well, the mobs are harder in Verdant Brink (Good!!) so you need to play smarter and using more of your skills. Stability seems to be in high demand, so guardian is doing quite well.

- Does teaming up with other players feel more rewarding?: Well I played through one whole day-night cycle and yes, you can’t do it alone but it doesn’t feel more rewarding then trying to do the same in for example Silverwaste. Actually Silverwaste feels much more rewarding! I like when events chain up, so you can follow one chain through a period of time as in Silverwaste but here it was a bit tedious just defeding a rallypoint and helping pact members with supplies.

- Do you find yourself wanting to change your skills and traits to overcome encounters?: No, I like having a setup I’m familiar with and chaging back and forth is just too cumbersome. You need different gear, and you need to write down your traitlines and choices since you can’t save them and reload them later. Better to find one build that is applicable to as much as possible and then learn to play it good.

- Does night feel different from the daytime?: No, not much. Well it gets dark and the events change but not much more. It is still some events that needs to be done, not much harder from daytime and what you achieve during day/night does not change how you play during the other part. I don’t see the connection of what we acheive during day or night to impact the day/night.

- Does it change the way you play while night is active?: In some way. During night I’m more defeding, standing still at rally point. doing some quite boring clean up of mobs. Druing day there are more going on, you feel more like exploring and ‘doing your own stuff’.

I know the Silverwaste map can be quite boring after one or maybe two rounds but at least it feels rewaring and quite wellpaced. This map during night time feels very long and not much of a variation. It is ok to play now in the begining but it will need pretty good rewards to keep me staying in the area.

- Is the nighttime meta-event experience that we’ve shown so far engaging and fun?:
It can be. The concept is nice, but right now – No. Too tedious and all the same for too long time.

- Does the Mastery system feel like a system that works to provide meaningful progression?: I like the idea of progression in this way and I will certainly unlock it all in time. I think when we see the big picture it is a good way to ‘reward’ progression (unlocking vendors, areas, skills etc), but just in the beta it feels abit too little.

I hope it will bring more ‘troublesolving’ into the game, right now there are some main ways to get things which all are nice, like killing/farming things, jumping puzzles, crafting and collections. I would love to see some more troublesolving, maybe connected to lore or finding clues in the world. Nothing too easy which you can just read the solution on dulfy/wiki the day after release and then run around and do. It needs to be more clever implemented, maybe that you need to find clues hidden/given to you randomly if you play the game and then piece them together.

- Does it make you care about experience and Mastery points?: Well, it seems as long as I just play the game I’ll get experience enough to unlock masteries. Since I like map completion I hope this will tie into that so you need to take all mastery point to get map completion (I really hope map completion will come back in the expansion!!).
As long as the reward is worth it I will keep unlocking masteries.

- Does it provide a framework that you think we could regularly add to in live updates?: Yes, I think it can be really good as long as it gives the feeling of progressing into something worthwhile. Coming to lvl 80 unlocks a lot of things, giving you new maps, gear and stuff. The same needs to be done with the masteries. You will probably find out that some masteries just isn’t worth the time spent and will only be unlocked last, when there is nothing more to unlock.

I have a Ranger as main in PvE and always playing Guardian in WWW and couldn’t resist trying out the Dragonhunter. I’m a bit mhe though.
I like the idea of a guardian with a bow, but I think it is too similar to a Ranger, diffrences being not quite so ego-tripped, obviously lacking the pet and being slower. I would much rather have had this specialisation in the ranger, giving them more team support and maybe a better standing in WWW.
I can’t see myself taking the Dragonhunter to replace my Ranger in PvE in the future, it is just too slow even if she can hold her own against the mobs in verdant brink. I will try out the WWW part in our guild-raid tonight but I have a hard time seeing it will replace my Guardian.

I can only agree. Tried to farm some wool scraps in snowden drifts with my dragonhunter, but it bored me to the bones after just an hour or so. The only extra reward during this time was 2 boubble thingy wich gives some extra money, but it didn’t feel a bit rewarding. I guess getting a giant eye/silver dubloon/dye/charged lodestone or so which you can get in some maps are more worth it. But the higher tier maps are rather farmable already.
I think the UI needs to be cleaned up/explained a bit and feeling more rewarding, highlighting what you get and I also think the drop-rate need to increase otherwise there will be simpler ways to get most of the stuff (chestfarm in silverwaste for example).

Lonewalker.4027

I must say I LOVE the story part so far. I have been playing it tough since the first beta stress test and found it rather lacklustre in the beginning but now it is starting to shape up! With a lot of characters actually talking to each other and arguing about the best way forward it kind of feel real. As a player I just longing to play the rest and also find out what happens with the, at the moment, closed choices you get.
I was also glad to find out that Rythlock entered the scene and was not upset with my Sylvari character

Another thing I find amazing is the graphics. I love how real the world feels and the Temple of Ameyalli in Verdant Brink is probably one of the most beautiful places in the game. I hope we get som story/events going on here.
I looking forward to see more of the world

Bugs spotted in beta

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Lonewalker.4027

I was playing the ranger since I know that class the best. I only had a chance to play in the first beta slot and here is a few things I noticed and reported on:

- The sound was very, very low in the introduction cinematic. I had to push up the volume to max and still had problem hearing. The rest of the game seemed ok.

- The characters in the character creation was too big to fit the screen. I have a high resolution and big screen and never had this problem before (at least not in my latest creation before beat, which was a couple of months ago). This problem was not present during the stresstest/demo.

- Marjory was levitating a couple of feet above ground when I first entered the story instance when coming in to verdant brink.

- My biggest concern though was the problem of using skills. First I thought it just was the longbow nr 5 (barrage) the didn’t succeed to activate in the ‘heat of the moment’, but when also skill nr 2 (rapid fire) just about to started and then cancelled and the same problem with warhorn nr 5 (call of the wild) out of combat I realised it must be a bug and not just ordinary lag. I have a video from the gameplay when it happens multiple times when everything else seems to run smoothly (hope it will be live during the day on https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3w1vHmCt5YpVZd5cnHfmOQ). Very annoying! Animation seems to start and then just stopps without doing the skill.

- I couldn’t get the masteries to work. The UI has got a rework since the stresstest/demo, but it still needs a lot of work. It is NOT clear where to activate a mastery (even though I found it after clicking around in the UI) and it is even more unclear how to train this mastery?! I tried with the gliding jumping out in the blue, but it never activated… so more information about how the masteries are supposed to train would be nice. Even though it might just need a tooltip or something similar…

- As other already mentioned, the mushroom masteries activted by just running past. No need to press F…

My impressions: Nice to try out a bigger chunk of the map, but I’m a bit dissapointed by the day/night rythm. It is quite unclear what to do and where others are on the map to try to help each other out. I just met a few roamers like myself during nighttime (we had gotten a bit away from the entrance of the map). Since it is such a big map and so much to do (activites and events and stuff) maybe som clearer guideline to what is important is needed, the small tip on the right hand overlay doesn’t say very much… Or maybe we will learn by trail and error as usual

Feedback on HoT Stress Test [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Lonewalker.4027

Lonewalker.4027

First of all thanks for me being part of the stress test! It was really nice to have a try on the new map and the boss fight. I had no problems with crashes and the game run rather smooth, or maybe I should say, it run as usual, a few hickups but mostly smooth.

I had a try with the new revenant and it was great fun, but I think the cooldowns of some skills needs a tweak. It’ll be interesting to take it to www or pvp. I also found it pretty hard to see which skill I was using since the where no obvious ‘you can’t use this skill since it is on cooldown’, so maybe some more feedback to the user is needed. Now I don’t know if I’m interrupting one skill by using another. But that might be the learning curve of the profession.
Some skills didn’t respond, probably not due to lag, but they just wouldn’t activate sometimes. I have seen the same problems with the ranger in the latest patches of GW2, but thought it was up to moving targets. but here it was more obvious with the Revenant. This might be one of those hard bugs to try to nail down and describe to get a developer to look at it (working as a softwaretester myself, and not being able to readly reproduce and describe a bug, or rather a feeling for a bug, is a nightmare!).

I found the environment really nice and wanted to glide around in the air and just look at things. I hope it will be a new/another ‘world completion’ achivement for the new maps! The glider responded well but I found it a bit hard to tell which places where solid to land on and which where not. Hopefully we will be able to take it down to the ground floor in the future.
I spent a point in mushroom mastery, but couldn’t use the mushroom. At that point I just thought it was disabled for the stress test, but it maybe was a bug?
Also the mastery UI was a bit confusing and kind of big on my large screen… I found it a bit hard to tell where I had spent my points, and I couldn’t remove them and put them in another line. Will this work as www, that the traits has to be reset by time to time?
At least a rework of the UI is needed and maybe put it in the heros panel instead?

I also rolled a ranger (my main profession), a guardian and an elementalist and all three could hold their own both in the events and in the wyvern fight. The main issue I had was that the ranger pet wouldn’t attack the wyvern (bug reported ingame).

The adventure was a nice little side activity. I guess it will be a fun activity for guild members.

It was a nice surprise to hear you own voice in the story (and elsewhere in the game, responding to npcs). I like the change going from a written dialog to more character involvement. Also liked that the story felt like being a bit more controlled by me, the player, instead of all npcs.

Overall it was a positive experience and I look forward to more!

What if all Sylvaris becomes revenants

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Lonewalker.4027

Lonewalker.4027

In another thread here on the forum, there is a discussion about revenants and the lore problem about playing the personal story with your revenant. In short: Rythlock is the first revenant, appearing for the first time in HoT a couple of years AFTER we killed Zaithan in personal story. How can we then level a revenant and playing personal story?

Colin has in an interview mentioned that all players should have a sylvari to play for HoT (Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns devs talk new lands, masteries and PvP). This means that the sylvari needs to be lvl 80 and presumly have played both personal story and living story.

In the end of living story season 2 we learn that Sylvaris are mordremoths minions. We don’t know if all or just a few ‘selected’ ones will be on mordremoths side, but Rythlock seems pretty upset and doesn’t seem to trust any of them.

My feelings is that something is going to happen to the sylvari.

What if all Sylvaris player characters are killed? According to lore a ledgendary hero, such as our lvl 80 sylvaris, goes to the Hall of Heroes in the Rift. The Rift is a place in the center of the Mists. The revenant is returning from the Mists.

What if your sylvari is coming back as a sylvari revenant, returning from the Mists?
What if you can’t level a revenant , you can only become one by entering the HoT with a lvl 80 sylvari?

I know, there is probably a lot of holes in my theory, but the biggest question is what happens with all the sylvari players that still wants to be rangers, necros, guardians etc?
I have three sylvaris at the moment, am I prepared to have three revenants?!
