@Mike O’Brien
So… where exactly would this C R A P fit into your “communicating with your customers” statement ?
And once again, do you still bet your company on this game ?

@Gaile:
[…] The team is going to listen to your feedback and, if and when it’s practical and desirable, they can look towards adjusting the new system to better meet your needs […]

Really now Gaile … can you swear on the Holy Bible that ArenaNet is listening to our feedback AND adjusting the game to meet our needs ?!?

@Customers (yes, us):
Obviosuly ArenaNet has a VERY different agenda, a VERY different point of view and a VERY strong pain the bottocks when it comes to us, the customers.
Well, since they so much need our attention I ADVISE ALL OF YOU TO MAKE SURE YOU POST YOUR REVIEWS ON AS MANY HIGH RATED GAME REVIEW FORUMS A POSSIBLE.

Why ? Simple:
1. I know for sure that “negative feedback” threads on this joke-forum will be deleted or pushed behind into oblivion by a ton of new threads with no true subject.

2. If they rip us off then by all means we MUST force them to pay even more for advertorials, hire even more Vaynes to kiss they behinds, etc. They so much deserve this particular kind of feedback…

Money makes the world go round / The world go round / The world go round … ;-)

My personal opinion

I subscribe to the above mentioned concerns !

And once again, since a certain nobody on this forum seem to have an answer for everything and an already dangerous, pathological urge to kiss buttocks, I’ll present them in a shorter/easier way:

Is GW2 some sick reincarnation of “Young & Restless” ?!

Are we doomed to log in and stare at the screen for the next 30-40 years, waiting for the world map to become available and filled with playable content ?

Are we supposed to pass this game to our kids, as a family legacy ?

I can only imagine something like
“-Listen, son, I have something very important to tell you… You know, the money I have put aside and the house and all… You will get all of them, of course, but only when you have successfully covered the entire world map in the game that my father started to play way back in the stone age. You know I tried to continue his quest, my son. I tried my best, God knows I tried, your mother knows I tried, and I can only hope that ArenaNet knows as well, God bless their souls. But I’m old now, my sight grew dim and my hands are not able to hold the mouse anymore … Now promise you’ll continue my work and let me die in peace…”

Do you believe the hype has been stopped?

@Vayne
[…]
In reality, no person could possibly live up to the expectations that fans have for Anet. It’s not reasonable to expect plans won’t change…particularly in an MMO. Particularly in an article that said nothing is set in stone.
[…]

Really Vayne ?! Since this seems so hard for you to digest, I’ll try to put it in a much simpler way:
I suppose you own a car. Or at least you prefer some brand. And you happily use that car over and over till the time comes to replace that car with a new one. By that time, the manufacturer of the car already advertises for “a brand new model, a shinier, much more polished version of something you already own, you know, you rely on and you TRUST”.

So, of course, you rush in to buy this new car only to find out that the emblem is the only thing which reminds you of the old, reliable one. Everything else in this new car is … something else. Not to mention things, important parts, are missing. Parts or features that you, as a sane man, expected to find since you can’t truly imagine that the manufacturer of the old car would cutoff from the new one. And of course the manufacturer would not lie to you. After all this is the manufacturer you trust. Right ?

And if you still pretend not to understand the point, I’ll give a second example, asking your wife to read it for you:
When it comes to cosmetics, women get very attached to certain brands. They need reliable products. They rarely try new brands and they are very loyal to the ones they know, the ones they trust. Unlike video games or cars, bad cosmetics might just turn your face into a nightmare and scare the husband away, so this customer-merchant relation is based on quality and trust. I trust she will explain the details further, in case you’re still scratching your head.

I made efforts and bought my GW2 Collector’s Edition given the trust and expectations and advertisement from ArenaNet. All my friends know this story. I bought the most expensive version of the game in order to show my gratitude for a good product (GW1) and my trust in the company who made it. I also did it to encourage, to financially sustain the development of this new product, given the trust I had for the company who made both.

Now, can you even image the disappointment ?
Do you know what happens when a customer gets hit by such a disappointing experience ?

I understand that ArenaNet has a business to run and I understand that things may change on the way. But there’s a limit ! Now please get off the chair, go straight to your employer’s desk and tell him, at the risk of being fired, that the mockery has to stop.

New, Instantly attacked and reported.

I went AFK in SPvP matches too. And I tried to leave SPvP matches. And no, I don’t feel guilty at all. Why ? Well, very simple: because I didn’t want to play with or against players that I already blocked for whatever reason.
But the very polished game doesn’t care about such trivial details. Of course, I’m talking about the “solo” variant of SPvP but same goes for dungeons. So I guess that when “LFG tool” will finally get out of beta ;-) we won’t get matched up with blocked players anymore. Am I right ArenaNet ?

Maybe its time for an Anet survey ?

@FellowPlayers:
a. We had surveys in beta:
As many already said, we had surveys in beta. Even if the in-game survey mechanics were deleted the source code is still there, in some in some Git repo branch or whatever distributed version control system they use… Bringing the code back takes even less effort and time than arbitrarily raising the gem price.

We DO HAVE SURVEYS, outside the game:
Each time I write a ticket to ArenaNet, they solve the problem (or not) but at the end of it I always receive a very specific e-mail:

Subject: Request #<ticket-number>: How would you rate the support you received?
[…]
We’d love to hear what you think of our customer service. Please take a moment to answer one simple question by clicking either link below:

How would you rate the support you received?

Good, I’m satisfied

Bad, I’m unsatisfied

This survey e-mail is intended only to provide feedback on your customer support experience. A response here will not update your ticket.
[…]

So please, it really hurts me too see all of you all struggling so much. They don’t want it. And I bet this thread will get dumped as soon as possible.

Well, this is no infographic at all but it is relevant enough, I guess:

I subscribe. But it won’t happen. ArenaNet is not even close to the Linux community ;-) where stuff is made by the user for the user even if it’s not necessarily FOSS. They have no idea. not to mention they are all busy right now learning to speak chinese ;-)

Let's Take a Vote

Looka.6078

I have my very own suggestion on a vote and this is directly addressed to the maintainers of this forum:

- Please allow comment voting on your forum. As in user/poster rating. This way I’m pretty sure that both ArenaNet and the players (read CUSTOMERS) will benefit. Here’s how:

a. 1st of all ArenaNet will get yet another means of understanding what the “voice of the customer” is. Also, as in many cases there will be no more doubt if one customer’s opinion is a stranded, isolated one or, au contraire, is a shared opinion. The more “pro” or “against” votes on a post(er) will surely help clear the fog in front of ArenaNet’s eyes. For good.

The very same mechanics may leave some posters here (and maybe their wives) out of job. Starving children, of course might just follow the evidence of getting “disclosed” as a hired poster. Old players already know what I’m talking about. And of course, as opposed to point “a.”, the more “pro” or “against” votes on a post(er) will surely help clear the fog in front of some forum users eyes too. For good.

Are we a community or just cunsumers

I remember the days back before GW2 launch, when we were still playing GW1 and they announced that GW2 is in development, scheduled to be “ready when it’s ready” because, you know, it needed a lot of “polish” …
Well… I also remember someone, in an interview, saying “We bet our company on this game”.

Kline dear, this community membership is just an illusion. A PR stunt. You and I and every other player in this game, are CUSTOMERS. Your term though, “consumers”, is indeed the much better choice here.
The difference between the two is obvious: the “customer” usually gets the product he required while the “consumer” only gets the “as-is” product.

In most SANE cases the product is designed following the customer’s needs/requests/specs.

Why am I telling you this ? Well, in the end, the customer decides whether his money were properly spent or not. And, of course, he also decides whether to spend more on the product or not.

Do you understand now ?
(don’t answer, I know you do)

We are not your QA testers

I guess it was March 2013 when I happened to write a post on this forum, covering (among other issues) the very same “stop beta testing on us” request.

Well, guess what ? In a matter of minutes some “moderator” simply deleted my post.

I submitted a ticket and asked what was that all about. The answer made me decide to simply trash this forum away. Until now.

Oh, in case you wonder, the so-called moderator deleted the post because “i made demands” and such thing is against the EULA …

So, after more than a year, my question to ArenaNet still stands: Are you sure you (still) bet your company on this game ?
