But the nice thing is that we’ll actually see a buff in WvW and PvE, where most of the time attacking an enemy will actually give you 3-4 enemies struck. I’m excited to finally see more damage numbers in WvW… It sucks to have to use AoE’s and other tactics (Like swapping to a GS) that aren’t part of your build to guarantee badges during good fights.
I’ll take that as a buff to PvE and WvW and a little nerf to sPvP and small 1v1/2v2 fights.
We have a lot of ways to win 1vX and 2vX fights anyway. It’s not a nerf that will really matter in the scheme of things. I’d argue it’s more of a quality of life improvement.
What I’d really like to see is Staff #1 ability turn into Guardian’s Staff #1. Hit 5 targets each per cast? Thx I’ll take it.
The answer is that it only affects your abilities (Veil, Decoy, Mass Invisibility). And it does not have any effect on the Torch ability called The Prestige.
So it wouldn’t proc any effects on you if you were effected by someone else’s invis skill.
Someone else can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is the right answer.
With that said, I love Prismatic Understanding as a mesmer. The extra second and a defensive boon are amazing. The boon will refresh itself as well if you let the stealth go its entire duration.
Seven, is there ever any reason for me to stack precision without stacking too much crit damage %?
I’m using full rabid and am thinking I may want to get cavalier accessories, amulet, rings to go along with my scepter/sword and staff. I have a GS with the chance on crit to bleed that I swap in, and of course a focus that I swap in sometimes for hoofing it around faster.
Have you played with similar gear and playstyle? I’m unsure of the ascended pieces, which is why I’m asking you — Cavalier? Carrion? Zerker? Knight’s? What do you think would supplement that build/playstyle best? I actually play a lot like your most recent 2 videos.
I loved these videos. It’s a crime they don’t have enough views. You helped me 2v1 today on my mesmer!
What do you think about zerging and how do you adapt your builds for getting mass amounts of bags?
Hi guys,
Title says it all. I’d like to know what issues have been fixed with the mesmer since October 2012 (I heard the torch gives perma run speed now, for example). Also, what new developments are there? I love the mesmer, and I’m looking for regulars to catch me up on all that’s happened since I’ve been away.
Thanks for your help
I would love it if we could organize through the posts on the dev tracker to search for anything that doesn’t include support tickets and bug reports. It’d make an easy way to stay on top of class updates, gamer updates, etc. for me.
Maybe an “advanced” search in the dev tracker? Thanks
Hey guys,
Am I the only one that notices that I slow down sometimes after I take damage, when I’m in combat, etc.?
It really bites me when I’m trying to do a jumping puzzle. Pressure is on because I have a baddie behind me, but he hits me with 1 arrow, no debuffs like cripple or w/e, and all of a sudden my jumping range is like half of what it normally is because I slow down.
Is this intended? It drives me mad. Can you guys help with some tips?
I bound a hotkey to weapon sheathing and drawing, which seems to help. When I sheathe my weapons, sometimes it seems that I return to regular speed.
Great replies. Loved everyone’s responses so far. I definitely need to try feedback out!
My top 3 are:
1. Chaos Storm (Epic blocks, clones don’t die in CS, and overall very good skill in pvp/wvw/pve)
2. Illusionary Wave (Love knocking people off cliffs or jumping puzzles, cancelling rez!!!)
3. Distortion (Shatter skill – LOVE to distortion and stomp, survive, and pwn big dmg combos i.e. Bull Rush knockdown >> Hundred Blades, or Heartseeker Spam)
Bottom 3 are:
1. Mind Stab (Small radius, cast time too long, misses way too often in pvp/wvw)
2. Phantasmal Warden (Junk in PvP/wvw because it doesnt move! At least give it some more range…)
3. Mirror (Reflection too short to be worth much)
Wish Phantasmal Warden was better, because Temporal Curtain is so awesome. Warden is worthless if players aren’t terribad.
And also, to address OP’s #1 point:
I disagree. Downed state isn’tkitten You don’t get knocked down if you have stability or immunity. Learn to get stable and then stomp. Or you could just keep some AoE up, stun/knock away anyone trying to rez, and/or just single target DPS the dude down and forget stomping.
I have won some clutch 1v2’s because I was able to revive a downed teammate. It’s a pretty cool addition and adds some good depth to the game.
This seemed like a good thread in the Suggestions Forum to re-post what I wrote earlier. I really like the idea of adding a join 2v2/3v3 option for SPvP.
I want to que up with friends and do a few battle Grounds. Why wont it let us? It really needs to be fixed. Yes i know SPVP but we are just wanting to relax and have fun. This needs to be fixed!
You can play with your friends via tournaments. We will continue as well to improve the ability to play with friends in pickup games, but it will always be somewhat limited because we do not want large groups of guilds pub stomping the pick up games.
This is a great goal, Jon Peters. However, there are sub-groups of people that wouldn’t break PuG’s in SPvP. Think about these examples:
- Husband and Wife playing together — Wife doesn’t want to play AGAINST her husband! (This describes my wife, by the way)
- 2 friends playing together in the same room
- Casuals wanting to play together
I have busted my chops in WoW’s Arenas and BG’s to get good at PvP in MMO’s, and it definitely reflects in my GW2 skill. It makes total sense that you do not want me and 4 to 7 of my other friends that are as good as I am to get on vent and steamroll PuG’s hardcore a few nights a week. However, there is a middle ground.
Please allow at least 2 friends to “link” together so they will not be swapped to opposite teams. That would really shore up this problem for a lot of people. If we did get 2 “hardcores” linked together, that is not enough to STEAMROLL pugs all night long. It certainly makes things funner that they can play with a friend, just like everyone else.
Now, I edited this post, because I wanted to add this: Tournaments are not a good alternative for this, because competition and structure are more than millions of casual players that will be playing this game want. I know for myself, in my new role as a dad, I cannot play tournaments. The reason is that i can’t devote (or won’t) the time it will take to run through a tournament just so i can play with my friends and wife without the worry of getting switched to the opposing team.
You can’t make everyone happy, but you should consider my suggestion, because it appeals to a great variety of players, and will make a lot of people happy. Even if we’re playing with 4 of us together, just having the confidence that you can play with at least 1 friend/significant other no matter what is a great consolation.
I hope that somebody reads this and passes it along to devs.
