Why do the Asura tolerate the Inquest?

I think they’re kind of like Slytherin. I personally like them, I mean Asuras aren’t exactly nice people anyway – they treat the Sylvari pretty badly and experiment on practically everything so it makes sense that there’s even a faction that goes even more extreme.

I'm having some issues with the economy, loot, and gear (long)

Your post was very long but I understand the frustration. It seems like they feared inflation so much that there is very little growth. I know that this game is very new but already at 30% map paying almost 2s for moving between maps, it really becomes painful. I actually run everywhere now even if it takes longer because the level penalty for wp usage is just so severe that exploring and gathering costs money to do rather than gaining money especially if you’re in the lower level areas. I also sell everything on the TP to eek out some savings and I wonder who the heck can afford those 75g weapons that are posted on the TP because I don’t think I’ll ever see that much money.

I don’t want stuff to be so high in inflation that that money becomes worthless but I wish at least, exploring maps and gathering would even out in the end. Currently, I go somewhere and I have to stay there until I get back my travel cost and good luck if I die where I have no allies and have to use a WP again :P

I’m a casual player now because I’m all grown up with a job, family and already a couple of decades of gaming under my belt. I find this game the most casual friendly game to come out. When I was playing WoW or other MMOs, I always felt like I was missing out because everyone else would be playing while I was off on business trips and I would have to “catch up” by playing non-stop when I came back. I even got myself a gaming laptop (lol it’s more like a portable desktop) at one point so I wouldn’t feel so left out. This game does not let me feel that way and I look forward to coming back and exploring without the rush the level so I could join that first group to hit the raiding tier (you all know what I am talking about – your guild all had your A group, the first to max level and start raiding).

A tip, for elementalist you should not be waiting 30s CD. Your attributes should be bound so you can switch between elements. This is different from other games where you specialized in one element or the other – you need to be versed with using all and plan out which one you want to switch to and when. I use dagger/dagger or staff depending on the situation and you really need to plan out your attacks carefully but it does become a bit more tactical one you get going. There is a reason why one of the Talent is to allow quicker attribute switching.

Also this game feels like old school RPG in many ways. Sure there’s an overarching big theme story but it’s the side missions and some of the off-tangent stories that I get a kick out of. I like it that it doesn’t punish you for exploring early, unlike other MMOs where the focus was level → gear so I ended up exploring after I maxed level and started raiding.

200 Hrs for $60 is 0.30/hour. I would say you got your money’s worth.
Btw, I too am a long time RPG player hailing from first Baldur’s Gate 1/2, Planescape, NWN1/2, WoW, Warhammer, Rift, etc. and I find this game fantastic. The game allows you to control the pace, have your own story and the freedom to explore at your leisure with other people. I am sorry that you are disappointed that this didn’t keep the components you liked about GW1 but people are amazed because this has so much to offer other than the old grind and raid.

Regarding the content, honestly I don’t know how you are burning through it fast. I am only at 30% map completion, my crafting is only at 300 or so, my first character is at 69 and I’ve started since headstart. As a completionist who also works 50-60/hrs a week as a consultant, this game is perfectly paced for me not to mention it gives me the option of dynamic payments instead of a static monthly fee. I also cannot -wait- to get into pvp because WoW pvp was kitten.

I guess I don’t understand the complaints of OP because I didn’t get into GW1 and perhaps you can’t see the benefits because you have not experienced the hamster wheels out there. I don’t know what else to say other than I disagree with your points and I get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Starting to think I'm not good enough to play this game.

Elementalist is a tough profession to play. Opposite to like other games where the squishy cloth class is weak at first but gradually become more powerful, elementalist actually gets tougher. When the damage you take become much greater, the margin of error for dodging, using your CC and executing your attacks become much smaller. Switching alignments become much more important as well. Mine is 65 and I had to completely overhaul my keybindings and traits to be capable. Now that I know the profession more I would not recommend as first class unless you are rather twitchy.

I have no issues with this but can we please make them sellable even at quarter price? I purchased a bunch of iron stuff and found that I went past that so I had to just destroy them for bag space.
