Hey Max,
From what I’ve been able to find out on this the characters are not available on the client, it doesn’t seem to be a Mac client specific issue. I think it partly has to do with where the client was purchased but as it’s an unsupported language (something other than German, French, Spanish, English) I’m not sure there is anything that can be done about it. I’ll look into it further and update the thread if I find anything else out.
Hey guys,
It looks like whatever the change was with where the client stores the local.dat and other config files might have had an adverse effect on the Mac client. I’m getting it looked into, apologies to any who have suffered from this, I’ll post back when I have more info on it.
Hey Guys,
Have you tried the steps in the sticky?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Basic-Mac-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting
Hey Lara,
Have you tried the suggestion in the sticky post here?:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Mouse-Wheel-and-Camera-Zoom/first#post241004
Hey Mystogan,
You might try step 3 from the troubleshooting thread:
Might be a data corruption issue.
Hey Everyone, just a quick update.
Our QA has been able to repro this issue and a bug report has gone in for it. Hopefully we’ll see a resolution implemented soon but I have no ETA at this time. Thanks to everyone who submitted your information/reported the issue. I’ll update the thread again if there is any change in the progress.
Hey sfinlay,
Have you tried the steps on the sticky that Kyllaa posted? If you have can you include your System specs and what OS you’re running off of?
I believe Kyllaa is right on this. The features would require the correct drivers to run which would not be present in a bootcamp installation. It may be possible to download a driver version for Windows but I doubt there are any official drivers that would have been released by Apple.
Hey Slinkiestyew,
If you’ve tried all the steps on the basic troubleshooting stick can you take a screen shot of the in-game graphic settings you’re using and attach it to the thread? Because of the way the Mac Beta client is run, unfortunately you won’t get the kind of performance out of your system as you would expect, however you should definitely be getting better than 5FPS so some adjustments may be in order.
Hey Mayko,
Can you try the steps listed here and post back if your issue persists?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Basic-Mac-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting
Hey Idis,
You might try the steps listed in this sticky post here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Basic-Mac-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting
it should resolve the issue you’re experiencing. Let me know if it does not.
Hey Luis, you don’t think you could give a rough ETA on this known issue do you?
Hey sgtbluefire,
It sounds like you’re experiencing a somewhat different issue than Kelkka. If I’m understanding your post correctly, you’re able to bind the camera control to one of your joysticks on the PS3 controller but it doesn’t work underwater? Is this specifically on the Mac Client?
The only issue I have with the Mac version is that the scroll button on the mouse does not zoom the view or the map (as it does in the Windows version). Has this been addressed? Is there some way that I can fix it myself?
Hey Kelkka,
For this issue have you tried the steps here?: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Mouse-Wheel-and-Camera-Zoom/first#post241004
This should allow you to use the magic mouse in the same manner as regular mice.

Hey Folks,
Please try the suggestions Kyllaa gave, and reply back to this thread if the problem persists. I’ve seen a couple of these in our ticket system but not many and no replies for the suggestions yet, but if it looks like it’s affecting a large majority of players we can get the issue escalated to the devs. Also posting your specs is important as well, the more information we have with these types of issues the better.
Thanks Kyllaa for being such a ninja at replying to these threads!
Thanks for the update!
Have you given them this to try out:
1. Open your trading post (leave this open until finished)
2. Open your options panel
3. Change the language to French
4. Wait for the trading post to reload in French
5. Change the language back to English (anglais)
6. Test trading postI can reproduce the gamma bug consistently with that.
Hey Kyllaa,
Yes I have forwarded that info to reproduce the issue, I’ve also tried it on my machine here but wasn’t able to reproduce it, though I’m using an iMac and don’t have access to a Macbook Pro, so I’m suspicious if it’s specifically related to the MBP in some way. I’ll update this post as soon as I hear anything else, thanks for hanging in there.
Hey Deaths,
You might try going through the steps listed here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Basic-Mac-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting/first#post2480238
If you’re unsuccessful please let us know.
Hey Kyllaa,
So far we haven’t been able to reproduce the issue on our end, I’ve sent your specific specs to our devs and the OS you’re using, so we can recreate the issue. I’ll let you know as soon as they get back to me on the issue.
Hi, Lucavex.4518 i have followed your method but it does not work, i have attached the image
Hey Eitht,
Error 10 is typically caused when you click the Join or Invite button without putting a name in the character name field.
I suggest you try clicking on the party icon in the upper left of the screen. You should see a box that says character name with the buttons join and invite underneath.
In order to invite someone to your party their character name needs to be in the character name field. You can either type the characters name in or target them. Once their name is in the character name box, you can then click the invite button. Doing this will send them an invite which they can either approve or deny.
This is somewhat different of an issue what was reported on this thread, the devs are currently aware of, and looking into the mouse issue posted but in regards to this thread it appears to be a Mac specific issue.

Hey guys,
For anyone experiencing this can you please submit a support ticket so we can get as much detailed information as possible? I can submit this to our hardware lab to see if it can be reproduced, but intermittent issues are hard to pinpoint, the more data we have available in terms of system specs and steps to try and reproduce, the better. Additionally with tickets in the system we can keep better track of the reports if we need to escalate anything.
Hey Kyllaa,
Thanks for bringing this up, I’ll get this updated right away!
Hey Tryst,
I was curious if you had any update on this issue. Our Hardware lab was not able to reproduce the issue on our end at all. On another thread it looks like the cause may be related to the mouse software and the profiles setup, if you run the mouse with just the plug and play drivers does your issue persists?

Hey folks!
I’m creating this sticky since I’ve seen some confusion over the Mac Beta Client installer when actually trying to install the game because the icon blends in so well with the splash art.
When prompted by the Installer with the Screen that I’ve attached to this post, to actually install the game double click on the red Guild Wars 2 icon that I’ve highlighted.
Hey Frayta,
You may have to turn down your graphics some then, usually two settings we see the most problems with are Shadows and Shaders, you may start with that.

I guess Louis, that moderator that recently replied to a few post’s last week has already stopped answering questions? lol
I’ve only been at it a couple days and I’m already getting razzed!
I’ve combing the posts trying to see what kind of grievances Mac players have. This item number one that I’m looking into. I haven’t posted on this yet because I didn’t have anything relevant to communicate.
I’m poking hard though, and as I have any information or update to give you guys I will share.
I imagine he gets days off too ;p
yes they let me out every now and then so I don’t forget what sunshine looks like
Any news? i’m not letting this post slip back down into the archives, it’s too important to leave behind again
Nothing yet :\ still waiting to hear, Don’t worry I’m not letting this one slip either, I’ll post as soon as I have information for you guys.
Hey Guys,
I was able to confirm that a fix went out for this, so if you see this occur any further please let us know!
Hey Frayta,
If you’re getting the issue specifically in WvW you can try setting the “Wvw Character Limit” to “High” and the “WvW Character Quality” to “Low” to see if it has any effect on your issue. From what I’ve seen I’m under the suspicion these are set by the auto-config based on what your computer can handle, and not accounting for the load Cider adds to system. Try this and let us know if that helps.
Hey Frayta,
Can you go ahead and open up a ticket for this issue so we can troubleshoot with you?
Hey Erriaa,
What OS are you using?
Hey Lucavex,
Can you post a screenshot of the error message you’re getting? including the error number.
I’ve seen this posted all over the forums and I thought, rather than try to re-invent the wheel I would create a sticky for it since it is all good information and should fix most issues players will run into with the Mac Client. I’ve added a couple things here and there to help out with the flow of the document and some steps we use with tickets.
Thanks go out to Kyllaa for putting this little bit of info together and providing help to the Mac community in general.
I would recommend trying out all the steps on this list for any issues you may be encountering with the Mac client.
1.) Run software update to ensure all drivers and OS are up to date. (Remember the Mac client requires the latest version of 10.7 or above)
2.) Try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first.
(Finder -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility)
3.) Repair the client install
Open Terminal
Type the following:
/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider --use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair
4.)If it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without the previous steps however, it will lose all saved log in/password and in-game settings.
To access this:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will recreate the recently deleted folder.
5.) Rest your SMC and PRAM:
To reset the SMC please follow the instructions provided on the following web page.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
The NVRAM/PRAM is what stores certain settings to allow your OS to access them quickly. I would like to ensure that none of these settings are interfering with the game being able to launch. Please note that resetting the NVRAM/PRAM will also reset these settings which may include resolution and volume among other information.
To reset the NVRAM/PRAM follow the instructions below:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (?), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts, and you hear the start-up sound for the second time.
5. Release the keys.
NOTE – Resetting NVRAM/PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.
6.) If none of these steps are able to resolve your issue please refer to the Sticky post on submitting a support ticket, and reference this post so we know what steps you’ve done already.

Hmm, well your specs look good. You mentioned you deleted the file from your Application Support folder, was this the Guild Wars 2 folder? or a file within that folder like the local.dat file? if you didn’t delete the whole folder I would recommend doing so, also try deleting the file “com.transgaming.guildwars2.plist” which can be found by:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Preferences.
let me know if your issue persists after this
Hey,
So I just bought and downloaded the mac beta for guild wars 2 finished downloading it and clicked play it went to black screen and goes back to my desktop as if nothing happened. Everytime I try to open it it does this. I haven’t made it onto the game once yet. I tried removing the file in application support with no luck. Is there a fix for this? I have uninstalled and installed 3 times with no effect at all. Each time I load up it asks me if I agree to terms and conditions as if I hadn’t even tried to load it before.
Thanks so much
Hey Erriaa,
Can you post your specs for your machine? Sometimes these ‘blackscreens’ occur when the system doesn’t meet the minimum requirements to run the game.
Hey Kyllaa,
I’ve setup a ticket for this issue with our hardware lab to see if we can reproduce it, which is always the first step in trying to figure out any bugs. I’ll update this thread as soon as I hear back. I’d like to try to get a feeling for how widespread this is, if anyone else is having this issue can you please post here on this thread? Including your specs and the circumstances surrounding the issue would be helpful as well, more info is always helpful.

Hey Jadenighingale,
If you’re still getting the Error 11 I’d like to encourage you to open up a support ticket if you haven’t already. These types of issues are handled by our log in team so I don’t really have the ability to look into it. I can tell you a common error I’ve come across is someone trying to log in with their display name instead of the email associated with their account. So if you’re trying to log in with jadenightingale.9327 I would suggest switching to your email. Otherwise, opening a ticket would be your best bet.
Hey Tryst,
I’ve forwarded this issue to our hardware testing lab to see if they can reproduce the issue, hopefully they can help shed some light on what is going on exactly. As soon as I have any kind of an update on it I’ll update this thread and let you guys know what we’ve found. Are you using any of the Razer software with your mouse? and have you experienced this issue with any other mice?
Hey Tryst,
I’m curious, when you use both mouse buttons to move does nothing at all happen? Or are you getting camera movement as if only one of the buttons is being pressed?
Hey Chemor,
From what we’ve seen the Mac Mini’s from Mid -2011 and beyond should be capable of running the game. As far as graphics, the following or better should run the game:
NVIDIA® GeForce® 320M
ATI Radeon™ HD 6630M
Intel HD 3000
Hi Luis! Are you a new Mac forum person? Are you just for us or what?
Just curious as I see a new name on here and we rarely see Anet staff in here.
Hey Kyllaa,
Yup I’m here just for you guys, to offer what ever help or answers I can. I’m part of the Technical Support team, looks like I’m missing a title but that should be remedied shortly.
Hey Scotty,
One of the things we’ve seen fix this issue is if you to delete the Guild Wars 2 folder located within your users library folder. Here are some steps to how you can do that:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch the BLTP it should load up.
