Asura and hammers... THEY ARE SO SMALL!

For the love of god… I get it, my asura is small but did you have to make the hammers so godawfully tiny? It’s to the point that I can’t appreciate any of the hammers in the entire game cause they end up so small that details are completely lost. Effects that have awesome animations end up just bit a of gloomy colors. Forget about any kind of shape, you couldn’t spot them with binoculars from half a yard range (in game distance). Every hammer on the asura ends up just a stick with barely the width of a pixel.

Pleeeeeease make the weapon size bigger for asura! The cool thing about small characters is that they still use weapons of the same size as other races that seem overly large to them which in turn forces them to use their entire body’s momentum to swing it. The animations already fit weapons of large size in comparison to their bodies but the actual size of the weapons are waay smaller than what the animations suggest. It’s such a huge turn off that no hammer in the game looks good cause I play asura and they apparently wield toys into battle.

Thanks. Herald is what really intrigues me about revenant, too bad it’s so far away. But then again if it’s as amazing as you say it is I guess the reward will be very sweet once i do obtain it. Meanwhile I’ll grind away with Jalis and Shiroh

What’s the action camera you speak of? Also I just noticed the somewhat gamechanging fact that when you change stance your energy goes back up to 50. This makes the gameplay way more vivid!

First off what are people using for leveling revenant? After trying everything out I’m down to just S/S with shiro and mace/x for stacking swiftness in jalis between places. Anyone else found something more effective? Also what traits do you use? There seems to be a lot of crit damage stacking but my crit chance is abysmal so it doesn’t feel worth.

Secondly I don’t really feel the group potential with revenant so far. needless to say I haven’t tried it much but I feel like it focuses so much on itself and the damage isn’t even that crazy. Perhaps herald makes it more viable in group PvE content? In the end that’s probably what I’ll spend 80% of the time on.

On a final note, so far I haven’t found the class to be that engaging. Like I pretty much only use phase traversal, unrelenting assaults and impossible odds. The rotation seems pretty lame. What do I fill the time with inbetween unrelenting assault cd?

if you dont come back to play, you wont find out about the new patch updates and stuff and tbh, you probaly have missed events that give them out.

What a great way to get lost players back. Add a lot of content but make sure to get rid of it all so people that’s been away for a while can’t do them! <.<

Also all those new SKINS are all nice, how about some STAT progression, some sence of going somehwre? It’s not there. It was there at first but then poff, gone, the void now being filled with living story and RNG kitten which to me means nothing. Sure I could come back get some sweet kitten skins for my character with no effort at all to do so but then what? What then???!!! NOTHING! Absolutely jack kitten. You don’t progress in this game, that’s forbidden.

Ugh well it’s really bad cause this game is doing nothing but proving to me and all my friend who played it that it really has nothing going for it and there’s no point in keeping hopes up for coming back.

Seriously it’s been almost a year soon and we’re still stuck with the armor sets that came out at the very beginning of this game. I see gw2 updates over and over but it’s just story, story, story, story and then some more story. No offence but 1. that’s not the primary reason you play an mmorpg and 2. gw2 story isn’t all that amazing anyway. The combat system is great, really good but god knows there are no updates ever on coordinated difficult multiplayer challenges (dungeons, raids) for PvE in this game.

They got so much content coming out, how about making that content new dungeons with new weapons and armor sets. The most exciting thing our guild can do right now is bounty challenge, really. I fail to see any reason to log back into this game unless you for some reason love its story. I just started play Rift again and even that game has more stuff going for it despite being vastly inferior in terms of combat and graphic.

The fact is it’s not even hard. Add a new story (already done multiple times), then combine it with content that is casually difficult and then allow people to play it in some sort of hardcore mode with greater rewards. Another keyword right there, reward. Good looking stuff with better stats should be harder to get etc. All of this is super basic but not seen in gw2 except right at the start of it during which this game ate my life.

Alright but I’m not really talking about level cap / meaning of level at all here. I mean the way they built the skills and traits, they feel like they belong in a PvP environment where burst and movement is key whereas PvE demands durability and sustainability.

Does anyone else feel like they tried to make GW2 a PvP game with all skills and traits working towards short burst functions with long cd’s and a lot of counter cc? Personally I feel like the game wants to be PvP but really isn’t which makes some awkward game play.

Especially when I’m building for dungeoneering since you want sustainability for the long boss fights but instead the game offers a fat table of burst stuff. I always feel like I’m working against an obvious path when I make something sustainable for PvE and in the end I get a kind of lackluster build which doesn’t feel intended. Anyone agree or am I alone here?

On the contrary when I go into sPvP i feel like a kid who just got a fat box of Lego cause every trait seem like a delicious piece of candy all of a sudden. :P

Its kind of funny that Engineer is the only profession that seems to constantly get these complaints, though. I never see Elementalists complaining that there aren’t any clothing options with water and lightning patterns, or Mesmers complaining about lack of butterfly gear, or Guardians wanting battlemage armor.

Yeh that is funny.. oh wait, it’s because those professions already have those There are tons of fitting armor for a mesmer/guardian/elementalist (who by the way can change colour to make it appropriate to their element) but there is currently only one steam punk type armor which is SE and tbh it’s rly ugly. :V

It’s funny how your own argument kind of declines itself since people complaining means there is something wrong whereas if they’re not complaining everything is fine. Right now this type of complaint is only made in engineer forums → engineers are the only ones suffering from it. lol

No. You can’t really change your setup without trait reset. Because all viable builds are based on certain trait allocation, instead of kit swapping.

And changing gear outside of combat can be applied to every profession, you can’t really define versatility on this.

^This. Versatility only matters in combat. One can’t say that “yeh well, anyone can go to LA in between each battle and re-trait, that’s great versatility”. <.< And just like he said the fact remains that you have to travel into deep trait lines to make different kits viable in the first place.

Also please stop using WvW as a reference to class balance. No offense but WvW is an AoE spam fest where all that matters is that you’re using AoE and have the bigger mob (and good coordination but again that has nothing to do with balance).

Edit:
Remove Veil from Toss Elixir U. So we have a reliable projectile block/reflect.

Separate the Flamethrower and E-gun traits from each other, but combine all the flamethrower ones and all the E-gun ones. So you have 15% Damage and 20% cd Flamethrower trait in Firearms, then you have 15% damage and 20% cd trait for E-gun in Elixir tree.

our traits are a bit of a mess. a lot of our traits look like they should just be combined into one trait, and we have entire trait lines with nothing of any real worth in them (inventions).

honestly the best patch for the engineer i can think of would just be bug fixes (hopefully this time without the nerfs)

Playing engineer has made me develop an allergy to the word “inventions”. =/

Made engineer at launch, leveled him to 80, 260 hours played on that character later I made an alt warrior, leveled warrior to 80, placed engineer in LA, it now works as a lowly slave to my warrior.

On a more serious note. Will you have fun leveling this class? Yes. Will you have fun in end-game with this class? For a limited time, yes. Will you be on par with other professions? No. Will you make an alt and forget your engineer? Yes.

I believe I retraited once every day for about a month in search for one single build that I found viable, made sense, was fluent, was flexible, supportive, high dps, anything! Did I find anything? No. Almost actually, a few times but they always had a very annoying flaw that I couldn’t live with. I never felt complete as an engineer. On warrior I can roll whatever kitten I want and I feel like a complete, working, thought out profession.

That’s all I had to bring to this discussion..

I’m at the phase of creating a new build daily, just to find one that has at least the features I find fun.

If I want ranged damage, I’m almost forced to use grenade kit AND trait Grenadier. I hate that…
Other simular choices feel too forced as well, it’s just one example.
Rolling without a single elixir?
A stunbreaker on a terribly long cooldown, or use a gadget wich again ruins any elixir traits.
Simply use 3 kits and have a ton of skills that ammount to getting nothing done properly?

I’m trying out all sorts of builds, but there is one thing I can not find: VERSATILITY!!!

There is no valid versatile engineer build.
There are only specified engineer builds, and even those are sub-par compared to the equivalent of another profession.

Where is my stunbreaker on a kit?
Why are there so few traits buffing ALL kits?
Why are elixirs so bloody random with long cooldowns?
Why do pistols need 2 traits to barely reach 1050 yards and pierce? Why does the rifle only have 1 skill that actually has max range?
Why is my flamethrower so close range but misses at minimum range?
Why does the elixir gun hit so weak? It’s nothing but a healing elixir that removes conditions most of the time: swap in, swap out…

Where the hell is this so called versatility that is sooo good we have to pay a price for it?

next stage: try out a different prof just for laughs, just to see… maybe a guardian and see what the word ‘support’ actually means.
Not rerolling of course, just making a new character to compare a bit… sure.

I never actually thought of it that way but heck you’re right. Out of all the classes engineer is the only one who has to travel really deep into trait lines to get basic stuff for the build to work. Ultimately that makes it the possibly worst versatile class in the game. How ironic..

If anything the engineer traits should be filled with very general stuff that boosts stuff all over the place to make it versatile. Right now the trait lines are extremely narrow focusing solely on a single kit or weapon.

You all talk as if you can only do one way of healing. I’m using a full support build with Kit refinement + elixir gun, elixir infused bombs, as well as constant huge AoE regeneration upkeep from heal turret. All of this COMBINED makes for great heal/support. You can’t always use bombs of course but with cleric gear and backpack regenerator you can hold out for a long time! Don’t forget various supporting effects you can get from runes, adding AoE fury and might or AoE regeneration!

And creating more options for more viable builds does not mean nerfing old builds and forcing people into the new ones. It means adding more, otherwise you are back to square one, only with another build type instead of the old and not more.

Amen! Biggest mistake of every single game company out there. Not even kidding..

My question is why are we even discussing this? This isn’t advanced kitten, it’s extremely basic and obvious problems and I’m out of my mind amazed that anet haven’t after half a year either fixed it or at least mentioned it in a list of things to fix. Engineer isn’t the only area where this is true, all over the game there are straight out dumb stuff going on that any person could see needs fixing. Most of them aren’t even hard to fix. Like seriously change one line or two in coding and it’s fixed! (and I’m in a guild with a bunch of nerdy programmers)

What I’m saying is take one week and have 8 people of the staff play one profession each from 1-80 then have another week to play lvl 80 content. During the time make a list of all the problems you see and FIX THEM. THEEEEEEEEEEEEEN work on new content/balance. Also I’m not sure if anet has this wild dream of becoming a pro pvp game but.. sorry anet no one gives a kitten about spvp as long as pve is filled to the top with bugs/problems. =/ (some people might do but, you get what I mean)

I have been looking like crazy all over the place but not found one list of what PvP materials produce what in mystic forge. The gear in the cabinet seems to be completely random so, anyone help? Like for example, what can I get from mixing stuff with deer token?

Arah gate event messed up

So me and 4 other guys formed a party to do Arah story mode and finish our stories. Problem was when we got there the gates were closed and so we figured out we had to do the event to push south and get the gates open. The only explanation we got to where the event was going on was a very vague text in the top right corner saying something about us having to reinforce south. We started looking all over the place but found nothing.

Eventually we went to Shelter’s Gate (which btw was overrun by 10+ bots) and found that there at least was some kind of event there. We defended it and it told us “The Pact have secured Meddler’s Summit and need reinforcements to the south.” But there is no way to continue!! We have literally scouted every last square meter of this area and there is nothing at all anywhere! There is no indication, nothing tell us where to go or what to do. We just want to do the bloody instance, how hard can that be? I disagree in the first place that it isn’t open at all times. But if you have to keep it this way at least make it fun, relatively easy, fast and doable to get it open! It’s an instance, that a lot of people want to do! After 1 hour of no success at all we decided to just kitten (did the forum just convert said word to “kitten”? erhmagurd..) it.

Is this a bug? What is actually going on here? Is it supposed to be such a mess? I just want to do Arah and finish the story… QQ

I agree with both sides. But like many said here, having to go to a specific city and spam LFG in chat is just an outdated way of looking or a group. Let’s be honest, it’s completely unnecessary for people to have to use map chat in a city to get a group. Just make any kind of system really that involves forming parties to dungeons. It doesn’t have to be “click one button and auto group”. Make it a list or something where you can sign up interest of a specific dungeons and add a little comment. Does not automate things but removes all the outdated unnecessary ways of finding a group.
