[LAW] Lulle's Advanced World-Completion Guide

Hello hello,

Just dropping this off here. A project I’ve spent over 250 hours with for the past month.

http://tinyurl.com/OOPSLAW

What?
Near pixelperfect World Completion routes. The few exceptions of where it’s not exactly on point is where I had to draw a bit further away to avoid clutter.

How?
First I needed to get the maps. This is a lot more tedious than one may think since caves are not showing. To get that I had to manually walk into each cave and [screenshot, paste, cut, repeat] (I also had to make sure no vendors or my own character arrow was showing).

Once the maps were done it was time to make the actual routes. I started by Comparing the old maps (Dark Ronins) and gw2timer.com and then made my own route using those two as a template. Now it was time for the actual playing, where I did run the actual path as I filled it in using Photoshop on a second monitor (having the decided path on a third). Once that was done I logged another character and tested my route (quality control) to check if there was anything that were missed / overlooked.

If everything was alright it was time for the final polishing. I were working on multiple layers, to highlight if a path crosses with another one, this let me show which one is after (highest) or it could also be based on altitude (gliding above a running path). Also the first dot in a Waypoint path is on a layer above the default one. This is also where Spacers and Gliding Start indicators are added and finally the Oopsy Watermark!

Why?
Because no one else did this. There are older maps posted (which also gave me the idea). Not only are they outdated but also not optimized like mine. Then there’s gw2timer.com, a mess unlike any other. Neither do these two guides abuse Waypoints/Launch Pads or highlight Gliding paths.

Trivia

  • The whole project has taken somewhere between 250-300 hours to complete.
  • I started this around July 16th.
  • The character(s) I used to make (and test) this were Engineers.

Don’t hesitate to contact me in-game for questions and/or please do let me know if Anet makes changes that affect this guide. I will keep it updated as long as I play GW2. If you feel like supporting me, I only accept in-game gold.

Hope you’ll enjoyed it!

[Suggestions] Interface Stuff

Hello everyone! During my fairly short time in this game (3 months) I’ve came across different things that I’d like to see change. Don’t get me wrong, this is truly an amazing game and I simply want it to be even more awesome!

It’s mostly quality of life stuff but I think many people reading this will relate to these issues.

I found a nice template in the CDI forums so I’ll be using that.

Item Links and Guilds [FIXED]

What?
Change how linked items is handled if the player is in multiple guilds.

Current State
Currently when an item is linked it goes into which ever guild is being represented at the time.
For example; if guild 1 is represented and we type /g2 followed by a linked item, it will go to guild 1 even if it looks like it will go into guild 2 as we wanted. This is usually followed by a “sorry, wrong guild” but now this one goes into Guild 2 (it was supposed to go to guild 1 as they got the link by mistake).

Preferred State
The optimal solution for this would simply be to have links ignore guild representation all together so that in the example above, the item would be linked into Guild 2 even though guild 1 is being represented at the time of linking.

Salvaging & Quality Warnings

What?
Add an option regarding the Salvaging Warnings that appear.

Current State
Currently, when trying to salvage an item that’s of Rare or higher quality the player is being prompted with a “confirm” window (This is a very valuable piece of equipment. Are you sure you want to salvage ITEMNAME?

Preferred State
The idea itself is very good, don’t get me wrong. It’s just, being decked in full Ascended (or even exotic gear), rare gear isn’t that valuable anymore making it more an annoying thing having to confirm this all the time. I can’t remember where I saw it but I remember seeing an option for this in another game. It was like a drop-down menu so if it’s set to “Exotic” (which would be my choice), items of Exotics and higher will prompt this warning but not the ones below. In its current (and default) state this drop-down would say “Rare”.

Clickable Achievements

What?
Instead of having the earned achievement disappear, take me to the achievement please!

Current State
When I earn an achievement today, it pops up in the the bottom right corner, just above the minimap. If I click it, it vanishes! =(

Preferred State
While I do know it vanishes, I still catch myself clicking it expecting to be taken to that specific achievement in the Achievement UI. So instead of disappearing, clicking an achievement would open the achievement UI on that specific achievement.

-

Let the Achievement UI remember where I was

What?
Instead of being taken back to the “main menu” of the achievement frame, have the game remember where I was when I close the window.

Current State
Currently, if you’re looking at an achievement or a achievement category and then close the UI window, the game “forgets” where you were and you’re back at the Summary when the UI is opened again.

Preferred State
Preferably the page would take me where I left off so I don’t have to navigate down the topics back to where I were.

-

Change the header “Return to previous menu”

What?
Separate the Arrow and the Header on achievements

Current State
Currently when “zoomed” into an achievement the top header thing says “Return to previous menu”

Preferred State
It would be nice to be able to go to the category directly from the achievement. For example if we’re looking at “Fractal Frequenter”, clicking the header would take me to Fractals of the Mists and not to the Summary (let’s assume I clicked this achievement in recently completed).

I can understand that some want to be able to return to where they came from, I suppose it’s just logical to me / an old habit from another game. In order to keep both, the arrow that’s next to the header could be separated from the header itself, keeping this feature within that arrow. (see picture below)

Add individual achievements per legendary weapon

What?
Give each of the Legendary Weapons their own achievement.

Current State
-

Preferred State
As an achievement enthusiast I was actually disappointed to see there’s no achievement per legendary ( “only” for having up to 5). Planning to get them all, it would be nice to get an achievement for every unique legendary I soulbind. =]

I think that’s it for now, I’ll be replying to this post if I come up with something else. Thanks for your time (those who read this).

Just heard on teamspeak:
“I just read someone doing the math, and GW2 have only had 99,997 % downtime since start”
No name mentioned! ;D downtime or uptime, such little difference!
