One solution to current WvW proposals

After reading McKenna’s proposals for future WvW development and understanding the struggle felt by Anet. I came up with a possible solution that I think it covers population inequality without losing an identity of a group server (which is important to create rivalry).

The solution is a faction system:

  • 3 factions without allegiance to a specific color. So that weekly/monthly rotations could occur.
  • Current servers would be assigned to a specific faction. Initially would be easier to fill up a faction with multiple servers instead of two servers filling up a linked world. Population size would not be a problem anymore (eg. Faction A: 95% ; Faction B: 97% ; Faction C: 96%).
  • WvW would benefit from megaserver system. Similar to Edge of The Mists functionality but players belonging to specific faction would only fill up one of the teams in that rotation (eg. Week 2 Faction A = RED), despite of their original servers.
  • Players from a specific faction could transfer free-of-cost to a different server inside the same faction, but would pay a fee to transfer to a server from another faction.
  • Capturing/Defending/Holding Objectives would tick a point to the overall score between factions no matter which map people were.
  • A fixed number of maps would be noticeable since the GW2 population would be even between faction.
  • Guilds would be given a participation rank which they could progress. The megaserver system would try to match guilds together based on their rank versus guilds from enemy factions
  • Identity wouldn’t be lost. A new one would be made: " I am Faction C and I am sworn enemy to Faction B. Faction A is for sissies. Long live Faction C !"
  • Some Map filling would be queued based on the player individual rank only if they choose to do so , otherwise they would queue to a general map. This would ensure good players would be matched against players of equal level. Same applies for groups.

Hi PvP team,
I just wanted to voice my concern about, making decisions thru polls. They are a great decision maker but players aren’t aware of their power in casting a vote. In this case, for example, I think solo and duo queue will win the poll, if so, what may happen (I hope it wont) is that players will party together for a 5v5 less often then they did in previous seasons, because it has been dying as a concept mindset in the whole gw2 community. The often changes to generic pvp stuff like the league system cripples the community weather they are great or bad changes, What I mean is it has been encouraging players to party together for every match to achieve better results but it has been discouraging to face teams with different party numbers, and so, players usually start to feel indifference between playing solo or in party because they don’t see much progress in either option.
This brings me to the point… Will players that still have interest in PVP as gametype be aware of the changes you will make to solo/duo and 5man party? will it encourage to duo-queue only and discard the 5v5 premades? if so, will it the esports scenery suffer from this changes? won’t 5v5 queue times spike ? what can be done to encourage players to 5v5 besides badges? What short term consequences will the average player see with those changes? might we see a domino effect that hurts the pvp community on the mid and long term, like it has been for a while?
This are mine concerns. Btw, I’m in favour of solo/duo queues lock-down. But there has to be great incentive for me to search/join/form teams.

The thing I like most of this event is the buff we get after completing events, it’s personal, it rewards those who are more eager to get faster rewards and excludes the LFG taxi craziness that usually goes on in previous similar events. This way players don’t feel unlucky for not finding the “right” map with all the hardcore farmers, because the buff doesn’t depend too much on the amount of people on a map.

We encourage all of you who’ve participated in the Mordrem Invasion to please share your constructive thoughts on how we can improve on these types of experiences in the future. Please share your ideas and feedback in this thread.

The thing I hear about most players arguing is the fact they can’t reach the rewards value at the vendor. So an easy solution would be to reduce the amount of tokens needed to exchange those rewards.

1st Item – Ghostly Halloween Themed – Probably Gift of Souls or Gift of Ascalon (or Eldritch Scroll by some players thoughts)
2nd Item – 40 Mystic Coins (equivalent to 2 months of hard work, Zomorros likes it, it’s shiny, and not trivial in large amounts)
3rd Item – 250 Karka Shells (Lemark fought hard the shelled beasts and was tired of the clinking noises of swords, again, 2 months of combat on an alien cursed place)
4th ItemIMO yet to be revealed

1. Gift of Souls
2. 100 Mystic Coins
3. 250 Karka Shells
4. Superior Sigil of the Night

Can someone confirm this?

KArka shells will not go into the forge with the sigil, so no.

but they go with the gift? cuz if so its more than half the recipe done

3rd item
Clues of the third item MAY start here / (because of the referrence by John that the previous posts were about 2 items only)
– Lots of a crafting component, where he spent a lot of time crafting / “he thought for the thousandth time. He was exhausted, bloody and sore” (of crafting)
– Reference to a crafting station in LA / “Lemark sat back against the rocky wall, brackish water rained down from one geyser or another” (geysers might also be a referrence to a craft of a weapon)
– the component is a blade and needs to be crafted/refined / “he starred at yet another dulled blade”
– Rare component / ““One of these alien curs is going to kill me before I’m done with this””

There are literal geysers in southsun cove. Brackish waters also fit this zone. Additionally, Karka are deep-sea creatures that look quite alien to Tyrian natives (I think they’ve even been explicitly described in such a way before). Karka permeate the island and have incredibly tough shells, something blades would dull and break against. Even if he’s not directly seeking out the Karka, it’s highly likely he would be forced into encounters and fight with them while on the island

I like the way you interpret… It gave me the thought of this combination…

1. Gift of Souls
2. 100 Mystic Coins
3. 250 Karka Shells
4. Superior Sigil of the Night

based on so many things… dont ask

My taking on the matter…

1st item
– Expensive and sold by a merchant NPC / “the merchant had taken almost every copper he owned” (the reference to copper is merely to currency and not coin – confirmed in a post by John)
– Ghostly / “sinister…ghostly, it felt weird to hold”
End of clues here / " his journey was one quarter complete."

2nd item
Clues of the second item forcely start here / “3.5-4 Story continues:(2 days later)”
– Tried to steal from merchants, but unsuccessful / “merchants still chasing with guards closely behind them”
– He wanst expeceting so much rage for the crime / “item itself was a bit too everyday to inspire this kind of rage” / “such a trivial thing by itself”
– The merchants were located fairly close to the Mystic Toilet where he could throw the item / " “Two more blocks”, he thought to himself" (while running away)
– The merchants are located in Lion’s Arch / “muddy waters of the bay”
– Is a shynning item and Zomorros likes it / “He stared at his own reflection in the item…bla bla bla …Zomorros knew it as well …bla…this was one of his favorites”
– It’s an old item or at least with some heritage to the locals / “they must be very sensitive about their heritage here”
– After some grind he got the item / “it had been a productive week…bla…his luck had turned. He stared at his own reflection in the item”

3rd item
Clues of the third item MAY start here / (because of the referrence by John that the previous posts were about 2 items only)
– Lots of a crafting component, where he spent a lot of time crafting / “he thought for the thousandth time. He was exhausted, bloody and sore” (of crafting)

– Rare component / ““One of these alien curs is going to kill me before I’m done with this””

I’m assuming:
– One of the items, is a seasonal component, in this case, Halloween
– Another item, is a well known item we usually use in the MF (my guess Mystic Coin)
– Yet another item, is a weapon crafting component such as orichalcum GS/S/D blade and 250 of them.
– One of the 4 items is surely sold by an NPC merchant
– The seasonal component and the item sold by the merchant, might be the same item, and might be a purchasable recipe which we need seasonal tokens. (Not feeling sure its a “Gift”)

What do you guys think?
