I’m getting this a lot to. It seems to happen more in the evenings and weekends for me – basically when (I assume) more people are online and using it. It happens on items I’ve bought and items I’ve sold only.
i just transfered today on Fs, from an top server, cause my pc cannot handle large scale battles anymore
My first impresion after 1 hour of WvWvW in Fs
pro’s : is on low tier at this moment so it has an chance to rebuild
few dedicated players
con’s : main : to low manpower at the moment , and few other minor issues
Hi Rayya!
If you check out our forums, you can see how we’re getting organised, which may shed some light on those minor issues for you.
http://www.farshiverpeaks.com/forum/
Looking forward to seeing you in game!
Far Shiverpeaks may not have a huge presence dedicated to WvW – but what we do have is getting more and more organised, and I really felt that last night. I had a blast in the Fort Ranik borderlands, attaching [ICE] to Maloki’s leadership. We’re probably the ‘little man’ of this matchup, but we’re going to give you guys a fight. And the fights so far have been fun. Trying to hold off the Fort Ranik zerg at Bluevale last night was pretty epic. Yeah, they eventually shoehorned us out of there, but I think we made them earn it! So cheers for that skirmish, Fort Ranik!
Also, I beleive that we will bounce back, fighting harder and better than ever. Maybe not this week, and maybe not the next. But we’ll be back. Watch this space!
I had a lot of fun in WvW last night. I hooked up a little ninja squad with Maloki’s zerg (and her shiny new commander badge!) on TS, and it felt like one of the most organised times I’ve ever had in WvW. Granted, we were outmanned a lot of the time before I had to leave and get some sleep, but I think we achieved some of the cohesion between players that has been lacking recently.
This makes me hopeful that Far Shiverpeaks can come through this mass server hopping we’ve been seeing. Yes, we still need the help – but those of us who like the challenge aren’t giving up.
We ain’t dead yet.
Well, here’s my feedback on the event.
FotM Dungeon – I really like this, actually. The levels are well designed, the fights aren’t artificially hard by pumping extra HP into the various mobs/bosses. They’re fun. It’s just a shame that 2 disconnects mean I’m currently not playing it. I’m still on level 2 – and both disconnects happened on the final boss for level 2. It’s just too disappointing getting so close to having level 3 unlocked, and then being disconnected from what you’ve worked for – with no way to reconnect. I’m sure you guys are working on this though!
The new map – It’s better thought out than Orr, which I can appreciate. There’s nothing that I can point to and say ‘this is awful’. However, I doubt I’ll be spending much time there. I’m not really into farming at all. If I ever get the urge to start farming, I’ll probably visit again.
Ascended Gear – You guys probably knew this was coming. I admit, I’m baffled as to why anyone would think this is a good idea, given your original manifesto. I was already slightly disappointed in the stat differences between the level 80 gear as it was. Though only slightly, as getting exotic gear isn’t too bad – at least there are plenty of different ways to get Exotic gear easily. Ascended Gear is too grindy/random to get. I don’t want to have to run the same place over and over for a chance to grind out some mats and hope that this time, I’ll get a shiny ring. I want to be playing other parts of the game. I want to be levelling my alts. And I want to be able to continue competing/playing at an equal level, without having a grind to look forward to should I take a break. Seriously – you guys had the whole gear thing right in GW1. Grind for skins, and don’t worry about the stats. What happened? Also, infusion slots – way too grindy as well. The GW1 method (run through this terrain, talk to a Seer, then boom! Your armour set is infused) was way more accessible to people who just want to be able to play the content you guys have released.
The One Time Only event – I was lucky enough to be in a timezone that could actually participate. Due to some RL commitments, I missed out on the first 2 phases though. Phase 3 though … oh dear. I made it to the event. Then I got to watch my character standing still, skill icons glowing. Occasionally, my guildies on vent would inform me that I was dead. It would take 5 minutes for that to show up at my end. For 20 minutes this went on. And this was just at the bomb phase. I didn’t actually disconnect – but I may as well have. If I attempted to move, the server would rubber-band me back to where I’d been trying to move from. This was unplayable for me. The only time I could start moving again was when the zerg moved on to the reinforcements stage. I put up with this for another 10 minutes, then I decided to give it up as a bad job. I went off to do other things, to be told a couple of hours later that the loot was awesome. I didn’t even bother attempting to go back for a chance at the chest – because seeing how bad my lag had been, I’d either miss out because I hadn’t been able to participate thanks to lag, or I’d lag so much even attempting to open the chest that it would disappear before I could loot it. All in all – I was very disappointed. I wanted to participate, and my lack wasn’t due to lack of trying. I’d feel worse for the people who are in timezones that meant they couldn’t even join in, except I’m betting that even if they had made it, they’d have run into similar issues as myself.
I think it’s telling that none of the devs have posted enthusiastically about the ascended gear.
If they dislike it, it would be a bad PR move (and by extension a bad career move for them) if they stated that dislike publicly. About the only thing they can do in this situation is exactly what they’re doing – remaining silent.
Sometimes, the ‘powers that be’ force through changes that are possibly argued against in design meetings. Yes, the devs ultimately implemented it – but it’s likely that it was implemented unenthusiastically. As evidenced by the number of bugs left lying around in this ‘supar spekkle’ one time event.
The devs are people to. I’m assuming as people, they need a job so they can earn a wage to get by. Once the PtB draw a line in the sand on what they want to see in game, it gets to the point where as a dev, you have to stop arguing, implement the change, then lean back and wait for the previously warned about explosion – without looking too smug about it as you think ‘I told you so!’
I’m not surprised they aren’t talking down any aspect of the game – as mentioned above, putting that kind of stuff out in public about a place you work for is a bad idea.
None of this changes the devs core values or what they are passionate about, in my opinon.
And on that note – I’ll be shutting down GW2 for the last time when I see the more passionate devs start to jump ship in reaction to the work they’re having to implement. That hasn’t started happening yet, so I’m still hopeful that this will be put right.
I’d like to be able to support Anet and buy more from the gemstore. However, there is little that appeals to me.
To date so far, I have spent my hard earned cash on the following:
Storage slots.
Inventory slots.
The Halloween Costumes. <— I later felt this was wasted cash (see below).
Here are things I will never spend my money on, mostly because it’s a random chance I will actually get what I want, or I feel it’s something of a ripoff. And my luck for these things suck:
Random miniature collections.
Any kind of Unidentified dye packs.
Black Lion Keys/Chests.
Consortium Chests.
Boxes of ‘fun’.
One time use consumables, that are overpriced for what they actually are.
Costumes that I cannot wear whenever I want to.
I guess my point is this – I will never part with my cash for anything that has a chance to drop something cool. Yes, I wanted a Great Chainsaw skin. No chance am I using my cash to pay for a 0.01% chance of getting one though – so I did without, and watched the prices on the TP instead. And decided it wasn’t worth it.
If dye could be brought by the colour, instead of the chance of getting a colour I don’t already have unlocked, I’d buy it.
If I could pick and choose a miniature, I’d buy it.
I want to run around with a sword, killing stuff while wearing a tutu, pink bunny ears and army boots. I’d leap at the chance. However, all the costumes cannot be worn in combat. The only time I’m in town is when I’m playing on the TP – so my screen is covered up in UI windows. Why would I even bother wearing town clothes or costumes when I’m not really getting to see them and appreciate them?
From my experience with Black Lion keys that have dropped for me in the world – I’m never going to spend my cash for a chance at another few mystery tonics, a couple of revive orbs and a few repair tonics. And given how I feel the BL chests are a con – I’m never going to fork out on a Consortium chest either.
In fact, beyond the upgrades (extra character slots, inventory slots, etc), and the Black Lion salvage kits – there’s nothing I’m willing to actually buy in the Gem Store.
So, to end this essay (my apologies for the length) – Anet, if you want to keep all the random stuff, fair enough! You’re not going to get my cash for it – ever. However, if you decide to maybe sell some of the ‘random chance’ stuff at a fair price (possibly for a bit more than what would be paid for the chance at getting one of these items) – then you’ll have a more regular customer throwing real money at you. That may sound a bit snarky – but I’m very serious. I’d like to be able to send you guys more money and support a game I enjoy playing, but I don’t like to gamble. And I certainly won’t waste cash on one time use stuff that is only of marginal use given how accessible these services already are in the game.
Just posting to say that I’m also concerned about the element of gear grind creeping in to the game. My main draw here (and indeed to GW1) was that it was easy to get the maxed out gear. Everything else was just shiny skins, that were an optional thing. And you know what? I quite happily grinded for some of those skins, and enjoyed every second – because it was optional.
I know this is just one additional tier. However, I was already somewhat disappointed when I realised I’d have to grind for exotic gear when I dinged 80. Granted, it wasn’t that much of a grind. But in GW1, I could very easily get my maximum stat gear, then happily trundle along and work towards a prettier skin. It also left me free to work on an alt character without feeling like I’m screwing over my main character by not playing her. Now I feel like this grind isn’t optional. Add in to this the whole RNG element of being able to get the ascended stuff … yeah, it raises major red flags for me. The reason I quit Rift was because of the gear grind. One of the reasons I stuck with GW1 for 7 years was the lack of it.
I hope that someone at Anet is paying attention to this thread. I don’t mind optional grind – odds are I will grind it out anyway when I have the time and inclination. But necessary grind to be able to stay on an even keel with everyone else is not fun – simply because it makes me feel like I have to do it. And being made to do something is not fun at all.
I’ll be sticking around playing still to see how this pans out – but if this goes down the road it seems to be any further, I’ll probably seek out another game to play. Which is a pity, as GW1 gave me years of entertainment just by not making me feel forced into doing anything.
Just a small niggle on my end.
Is there any chance that the ‘Items I’ve Sold’ list under ‘My Transactions’ can have an option to let us sort the list by when an item was sold, as opposed to when the item was listed?
I generally have a lot of stuff up for sale. It’s frustrating having to go back a few pages to figure out what I just sold.
The ‘items I’ve bought’ list also has a similar issue for me, though that one isn’t usually so frustrating as I’m more likely to cancel a buy order within 24 hours.
Thanks!
I got it last night as well…. said “Error: Invalid Authorization” or something close to that. I was able to retrieve my gold and something I had bought the day before but not buy or sell anything.
I’m getting this also. It’s odd, as the TP was initially working for me. I ran to the crafting station, attempted to list some stuff I’d crafted, and then I was getting ‘Error: Invalid Authorization’ on every tab except the pick up tab.
edit Logging out completely and logging back in did fix this for me.
Most likely people speculating for christmas recipes.
The checking on this seems to be somewhat aggressive. I see the point of it (to stop very irritating spam!) – however, the timer seems off on it at the moment.
I spent quite a few hours attempting the jumping puzzle in Metrica Province. Due to being kind of rubbish at jumping, I fell off alot, occasionally resulting in my death just prior to the teleport to the first gate. Sometimes, waiting for someone to come by up there can take a while – a few minutes. However, people would eventually arrive and kindly res me – and I always thanked them with a ‘thanks!’ in /say chat. However, after about the 5th time of this happening (over the course of half an hour) – I’d have my message surpressed due to excessive chat. Which seems to be rather overboard.
Not a serious bug as such, but I think your chat spam detection formula needs a slight tweak!
I’ve had the same – I ordered 250 copper, received 25. Kind of irritating to have spent 10 silver on 25 copper.
