Groups are requesting a certain “AR” of like 20-25 or something. What does AR mean, at first i thought Armor rating but my armor rating is 2k. Could someone enlighten me?
Ah well I’m level 80 and waiting, I haven’t played because all my friends are on other servers. To be honest this post was sarcastic, I’m a bit miffed that this was a highly advertised feature from the start and id rather have this working than new content. At least there’s no subscription so it doesnt hurt me not playing. There isnt even an estimate at when this will be available It could honestly be another 6 months.
I was just thinking it would be nice to be able to play with other people without transferring to another server knowing you may not be able to return to your home server. It just seems like GW2 is a community oriented game and this should be the sort of feature it would have. I got the game to play with friends but my friends are all over the servers I cant keep switching my home server. Youd think this would be something they would have had at launch, or would be a priority.
why do we need p2p trading? just tell them you are putting it up on the AH
can we have them call out “I’m bleeding out”?
rofl, who said it make you strictly invisible, it could make you invisible in the sense that you are imperceptible in general.. but yeah.
Found a book in the durmand priory basement called “II. Dwayna’s Blessings” I was going to report it as a bug, but there’s no section for this kind of thing so i figured lore was next best?
The issue is it’s not a sonnet, a sonnet is 14 lines, this book contains only 10 and not in the correct meter XD sorry GW2 writers, I love the game but I also love poetry. The rhyme scheme is accurate (for a 10 line sonnet)
Anyways loved the poem, just wanted to nitpick.
EDIT: upon reading further, all the sonnets in the priory are 10 lines which leads me to believe it is an intentional variation from the traditional sonnet.
The maggot event was there when I looked. Though it was like a week ago, I know some things like mistwrought were broken in the patch. Anyone know if the event was removed or broken?
interesting, though im refraining from judgement, anyone want to check the numbers? I know its possible to farm faster than what he says when it comes to the 80 areas, pop a karma booster and stick around the cursed shore you can do easily more than listed.
What do you all think?
Ha ha ha!
I have a lvl 80 Ranger, and My pets rarely die..
Whay? becouse I controll my pets, I keep an eye on the action AND my pet.
I swap pets when needed. I use my heal when my pets health go low..It is not we who need to change tactics to adapt to your awful change, it is you who need to become a better ranger.. .. .. ..
quoted for truth. Im an 80 ranger as well, but there is a point, many pets die extremely fast. For this reason I only use bears because they have some durability. Most eagles and falcons as well as other smaller pets can take maybe 2 or 3 hits though i am not a beast spec so its understandable. i just stick with what can survive.
Or just end free server transfers already, sheesh
I really don’t see the point in this at all. Okay, my level is hidden. Oh, I have 50 trait points, I must be level 60.
Traits should be downscaled some too.
The point is to one day have a game without level. Where you play for fun and not to grind for exotic gear that does not improve your character much.
Uh… no?
I like levels, i like getting new gear and levels as they are are insignificant.
in PvE who’s going to look at your level? the NPC mobs? How will you know if you can enter a raid, or how will others know you wont simply just drag them down and constantly die in a fight. there is nothing wrong with levels and I wonder why these ideas even came up.
Im against p2p trading system, the stalls will clog servers with AFK and if you do straight P2P trading chat will spam with WTS and WTB messages. What we have now is fine.
I want a manor, like Caudecus’ manor and how it should work is isntanced neighborhoods. I dont want my home in DR or LA. I want it out in the woods, it suits my character. What we could do is a large map with lots. The neighborhoods sort of like LotRO
movable furniture is important, trophies are important, a little pen where minis can play would be cool. A garden to grow a tree like a rich vein and I want to be able to build and purchase my own dungeon beneath my house/’manor that I can allow creatures to inhabit so i may slaughter them and take the loot. Personal dungeons for looting.. we can buy creatures to inhabit it
there was that guy in LA who kept mobs in his basement. (whispers quest)
Thank you but condition damage is my main goal, i only need precision to proc my bleeds. But now that I know a general number Ill go for that. is there a place I can see my CD stat?
I recently hit 80 and purchased the one piece of armor I knew that I would benefit from, but here on I’m unsure where to go.
Im a CD focused ranger who would also like some precision and Vit or Toughness or both?
I bought the Grenth Coat but now I dont know which other god items to fetch.
I only need my crit chance up to 50% but dont know how to calculate how much precision I need to get there since with a shortbow I can apply up to three bleeds (crit and below 75% health while flanking)
What armor pieces should I get to hit this 50% crit mark while boosting my CD as much as possible and having some vit/toughness padding and how do i know if i should pick vit or toughness?
They look feminine already.
You are just looking with your human eyes.
You should try and develop Asura eyes.
QFT
This is an RPG, get into character and you’ll find yourself drooling over them floppy eared asuran women like they were some cutting edge electro-magi-transmutron
Many many more flavor items. Brings back memories of Phantasy Star Online when there were TONS of flavor items, hilariously rediculous items like newspaper weapons, or a gun that shot fists. Now i dont want ANET to get so strange and funny but more flavor would be great! The Charzooka and the Dreamer are great starts. Confetti is approved of and i would like to see some holloween masks. Brings back memories of the Runescape days, buying a holloween mask for 20 mill
Ive said this once, ill say it agian. GW2 in many aspects plays like a 1 player game. You need to dodge, move around, break LOS, and all that jazz. Exploration especially it seems like it plays like a solo RPG and the stories, amazing.
This is for the mobile API when released. A large cannon is built in the Asuran capital or LA or somewhere semi centrally located, or perhaps doesnt have to be made in game. But after logging in to the mobile app the user can pay a small fee and launch a care package to a location on the map by using a touch screen, click the continent, region and then specific place for the care package to land. This way we could leave a little gift for someone to stumble upon and leave them a little message. Could also lead to fun player organized games.
or
Put a name on the package, it will float down with a small parachute next to its recipient offering them food, short term buffs for gathering, exp, or karma.
Take it a bit further, anyone who wants to use it must have a cannon built for their guild using influence.
Want to send something better? Buy a care package for a couple of diamonds guaranteed to contain a random cash shop buff or item. Its just a fun way to send someone something nice while sitting at work or in class.
perhaps we could load items from inventory as well to add to it. Itd be like mail but more fun and with extra stuff.

Sir, you get a fishy stick.
after hitting level 80 regions and mobs drop specific items, confetti, eye patches, town clothes etc. I want fireworks, or perhaps some toys like yoyos that are used when we idle?
Also, in town clothes, can we have canes? some fancy ivory and silver walking sticks?
broken systems? this is news to me and Im level 80. I believe most of the “broken system” complaints come from people who aren’t adjusting playstyle.
Want to know the secret to combat in GW2?
Its called “Dont get hit”
You have a dodge, use it. You have healing skills which return roughly half, if not more, use them. I agree heals should stack and though things arent perfect, I wouldnt call them broken.
PEBKAC
Ya the money sinks in this game are way over board. I get there needs to be money sinks but the death penalty in GW2 is by far the worst of any game I have played. I rather my old school EQ1 days with a little exp lost. If you are level 80 and go back to a lower level area, you cant make back the money. It has stopped me from having any desire to goto lower level areas.
this and a few others must be confused. Im level 80 and i receive enough to cover a death penalty from a single event. Event rewards increase by level, not dependent on the area.
Its laughable that people complain about the cost which is virtually nothing. 2 events = death penalty covered. If you cannot survive two events the problem isnt the game. its user error. I teleport EVERYWHERE and just dropped over 4g on a mystic crescent and still turning a profit… in the metrica province, yes the 1-10 area I made some good silver and hardly died. Im unsure what these guys are doing wrong that dying is breaking the bank.
easy to ban bots, anyone in a party of 5 hunters with 5 brown bears ought to be banned.. weve all seen these groups.
I agree with both sides.
For one, variation in armor is always nice and some tasteful sexuality in dress is nice as well.
However, it should not be a priority over the culture within the game. If they dress androgynous they dress androgynous. Its like asking that sylvari be behave more like humans. Its a cultural aspect I am particularly fond of. Though they are young as a race they represent something transcendent. Their affection for each other is deep without being sexual, its who they are and I wouldnt change it.
So, Emtwo hit it on the head, just a bit abrasively, its who the Asurans are. Deal with it.
Fraps is crap, quite honestly. Go for Playclaw. It doesn’t lag you to the depths of Orr and back :P
Also not free. PlayClaw only allows for like a minute of recording though it would be my top choice should you purchase or obtain it.
Thank you, I heard back today and they declined my request to join the program. Essentially they want me to apply next semester so they have a GPA to go off of. This is my first semester here and the only GPA I have is from a community college. They also said they wanted me to take a few art classes here and build a stronger foundation. (they want me to take more classes more money for them >:O) but that is fine. I can further my writing and I do need more practice.) meantime I did start a blog and got my first follower
Thank you Maeve and Dayrinni. If i hadnt been limited to 500 words I would have written 5 pages.
Ive been kicking around the idea to blog for a while now. As a (soon to be) game design student I thought it prudent, though it also will contain much of my fiction writing most of it with a fantasy or GW2 theme. I started the first post today about my guild on Ehmry Bay. Its name is Overly Philosophical but in character and in stories it goes by Omnis Pateo. I plan on telling this story about my character and the ‘guild’ through short story role play-esque form. ((note its not proofread so likely riddled with errors. I wrote it quickly before heading out to class.))
“Just who are you?” A young woman probes the silver haired guild leader that stood before her. His eyes like his hair and an eerie colorlessness and stared momentarily off into space as though focusing on something that wasn’t there.
“Your commander, was that unclear?”
His tone was not rude or condescending, he was giving her what he saw was a clear concise and easily understandable answer though he knew what she had meant to ask. Many of the new members demand answers and he was used to the suspicion and interrogation though as time goes on the recruits settle into their place and are content knowing what they are permitted to know.
“You’re name, I know you’re the commander, I know they call you The Grey Archer but neither of those things are your name. Who are you?”
The recruit repeated her question, other senior members stood aside having seen this conversation, or even having had it in the past.
“Alia, was it? You will call me commander. If you don’t trust me you are free to leave, otherwise as time progresses you will learn more”
Alia gave a disrespectful and derisive snort as she lowered her head despite her fists clenching. As if on cue a bear roars loudly from the nearby forest yet none of the guild members flinched.
“Grey, we should get moving”
Cirtaine, a tall, slender, black haired officer of the guild interjected the exchange knowing Alia tended to be too hot-headed for her own good even if she didn’t vocalize her aggression both the commander and his pet, Niveus, could sense it.
With a nod the commander turned and began walking, speaking to Alia as the group followed.
“We were and are Omnis Pateo. Long before either of us were a thought they had cataloged nearly everything. However unlike the current groups, The order, Vigil, and Priory they lacked military force, it was believed strict secrecy was enough to protect their library. They were scholars mostly interested in knowing everything.”
With a brief glance over his shoulder to Alia, who’s gaze was focused intently on the ground as they walked, taking in what he could tell her like a sponge for hints or clues about what the guild’s true purpose was.
“They were successful for the most part, and amassed a large library containing information on every person from the merchant class to the lords and kings. Every animal and herb was contained as well as history and extensive knowledge in every subject of academia-”
“So what happened?”
The Grey Archer stopped and knitted his brow at the young woman who interrupted him giving her a short warning glare which was fully acknowledge, Alia fell quietly in step once more.
“The White Mantle took interest in the library, it took them a lifetime but they found it and burned it to the ground and killed everyone out of jealousy of our progress. They took what they wanted and wiped what little of our name existed from history.”
A silence followed from the group, even though everyone but Alia had heard this story a hundred times it hung heavily in the air for all of them. Alia was the first to break the silence with another question asked timidly knowing she was treading on something sensitive.
“All of them? That long ago?”
The commander gave her a single nod.
“Then who are you?”
Finally the Grey Archer would answer the question she had been asking from the beginning. His reply was plain and without emotion but not cold.
“I don’t know.”

Very well done, loved it. please keep it up.
fraps isnt free though, the free version is restricted to a few minutes of recording. I have yet to find a working free software of any quality. The closest thing would be camstudio
I turned in my portfolio today applying for the Game Design and Development course here at the college I attend. I was restricted to 500 words which made this so difficult, my passion is endless and to be confined to 500 words was torture. This was a personal essay so its not as academic as I could have made it. The prompt was asking about what was the motivation, the driving factor, or inspiration to apply for game design and what message or effect do we want to have on the industry or culture. I dont know how well the format will transfer from Word.
Title: Mightier Than the Pen
My earliest memories of video games are of me sitting in my father’s lap as he played Wishbringer. It was an old text based game that came on the ancient 7 1/2 inch floppies. Minimal instructions were included and you were stuck guessing at vague commands. I didn’t understand much of the game and even now almost 15 years later the game remains unconquered.
As video games grew and matured the way I was drawn to them did as well. I loved playing video games with my brother, spending countless hours playing Kirby Super Star. But at this point games were still just games what mattered at the time was my brother and I having fun. Even when I started playing massively multi-player games online, they were just a fun way to kill time. My view on video games changed drastically when I experienced my first true single player role playing game. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind marked my awakening as an aspiring game designer. Though I played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and other notable titles it wasn’t until I had matured as a player that I understood the emotional weight of the stories these games told.
Video games are the ultimate art, stimulating the eyes with animation and style, the ears with sound and the mind with challenges and competition. But most importantly the heart, with a story mustering some of the greatest feelings of joy and achievement or deep dread and sadness. There is nothing that moves me, in any sense of the word, more than video games. That is the reason I desire to design and create. I want to create games that evoke emotion, leave impressions, bring forth the questions of good and evil, life and death, and query the very nature of our personalities.
My dream has changed from wanting to be a professional bowler as a child to dreaming about the art I desired to create. I want to write, draw, design, animate and breathe life into worlds. I want to reward, challenge and doom players to the twisted machinations of the digital world. The video game industry has far surpassed the film industry and with technology independent developers are sharing their stories and their art with the world. I want to join them. Sharing both the sweetest of dreams and the most horrifying of nightmares as can only be conveyed in an art that engages the the viewer like video games. I have much to work on and much to learn, not for the sake of simply getting a degree, but because my ideas and visions are too complex, too vivid for me to recreate tangibly. Though I know through hard work that the time will come that I can do my creative ideologies justice and share my art with the world.
