I was not trying to imply that the drop rate was useless. That is why I followed up by giving an example of what I was talking about.
Very important :: The drop rates for the rare permanent tools should be made public – this is gambling with real money and I’ve seen reports of players opening lots and lots of them (one man on Reddit opened over 400 – over $500) and I haven’t seen anybody getting the win. Are we expected to drop over $500 and still likely getting none? That’s absurrrridiculous.
I have spent real money buying gems, but not for this. Buying $500.00 worth of gems is to open boxes that cannot be resold is a waste.
The drops rates should not be made public and it didn’t matter if they were. Drop rate means nothing since he could still open 2,000 boxes and get 0 while someone opens one box and gets it.
The way of thinking should be to farm gold and buy gems with gold not cash. I understand the entertainment value of a game and spending money on entertainment. I have been addicted to a few things and probably am to this game as well so I can point out the fact that $500 for gems sounds like an addiction. Yes I have been there (in another game).
We don’t know for sure if it was really 50% or 10%. We have no how the percentages are figured out. I will say it is not going to be. Also you have to think of odds.
Indeed. Now they just need to do something with those Cinnamon sticks that are worthless and would sell for vendor price if they could.
Not really sure why people are selling their conduits at like 6.2g though.
To those complaining about losing money from it: Welcome to economics. You took a risk and lost because of a corporate mistake, such a thing happens IRL too. :p
You would technically be right. I took a risk, however, the odds they would take away the conduit from being made at the mystic forge and move it to something else was low. It was a good solid investment if they had not said it would be available from BL Chests.
I’m reallykitten the kitten off at the moment for many reasons, but I’m going to make an attempt to stay civil in this post.
So let me get this straight. You say mystic chests (and therefore its items like conduits) won’t be crafted from scratch anymore, but existing items and ingredients will remain. So of course every intelligent trader bought out all of these items because there would soon be no supply.
Then you update the game later than when the patch was supposed to be issued, and in the update notes you write that mystic conduits now drop from black lion chests- aka junk that drops mercilessly throughout the game.
Of course many if not all of the traders who were online that invested earlier panicked and immediately started selling out their mystic items.
Now you say, “Oops, it was a mistake, these don’t come from BL chests.” And everyone who has sold out their mystic items can’t even buy them back.
Do you know what you’ve just put me and lots of people through with this mistake? Is this a joke? Because if it is it isn’t even slightly funny.
You also sell higher editions of the games and advertise that players get a 5-day golem banker for paying more for their copy of the game, and now you say PERMANENT bankers drop from BL chests?
WHAT THE HELL is wrong with you people?
I doubt he will reply, but yeah a lot of people got shafted on this mistake. I was lucky enough to but a couple of conduits, but still lost maybe 10g. There is nothing that will be done about this.
Rare items have seen a MASSIVE price hike and common items are now so cheap they are BELOW vendor value.
Rare items have seen a massive price hike huh? This might be because they are rare items and probably in a lot more demand. Kinda the definition of rare.
The conduit is not currently a part of the Black Lion Chest. Sorry for the confusion.
@ John Smith: I would like to thank you for causing a market crash on Mystic Conduits that allowed me to make a 5g profit.
I’ll let you decide for yourself if that was sarcasm or not.
Yes I sold 22 chests at 70s-1g. I was able to snag 2 more conduits though (only 4 total now) at 3.6g ea and I still have 8 chests.
I guess that’s what happens when you gamble. I had over 2,500 BL chests thinking they would do something, but I needed the gold for something else at the time. Oh the memories.
7g last night for a conduit. 3.5g today. I’m sorry but what the actual kitten?
That is because everyone thought they would now be in the Black Lion Chests. On the official patch notes they said they would now come from the BL chests, however, in a separate post by Anet they said it was a mistake.
The market for them tanked since people thought you could get them from the BL chests. The prices should and have already climbed (5.6g each now). I am sure the price will go back up to 7g when people realize it was a mistake.

You do not mention anything about the conduit here.
Make the Cursed Shore karma farming area extremely difficult.

There is an area of the Cursed Shore that I’m sure we’re all aware of. You can rack up mass amounts of karma (and yellows and crafting mats) in a very short time due to there being a high concentration of short events that respawn quickly.
Due to this, the area is extremely overpopulated, so much so that the area’s difficulty is completely trivial. There’s no challenge to the events, you just stand there with the 49 other players and spam AOE and get mass amounts of loot and karma an an extreme rate for no real effort.
I think that, when high concentrations of players are detected, events should get A LOT harder. Every enemy that spawns should be at least veteran level, and there should be more of them. A lot more of them. Also, these veteran and boss enemies should have AOE, ground spam and CC abilities galore. I want to see red circles everywhere.
While this post is specifically about Cursed Shore, I think it can be freely applied to all zones. Are the centaurs of Queensdale really such a big threat when they lose every battle?
You know Cursed Shore is the only 80 (only 80) area right? There are also not always a ton of people at these events depending on the time of day. So having each mob be a veteran and increasing the number is not a good idea.
These things will also probably be account bound. I figure the price of the chests and conduits will go up even if just slightly. There is a rush for everyone to sell.
Actually, your first comment about undercutting is untrue. It has already been made clear that the trading post doesn’t use the “last in first out” structure. Here is a link to the thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Last-in-First-out-Please-tell-me-the-TP/first#post104484
I didn’t even bother looking at this link or care if it was Anet who said it. Go to the trading post and put 100 items (ore is good) for sale at 1c cheaper than the lowest price. Constantly refresh and you will see other people put items up at the same amount and the total number of items for sale at that price will increase (remember you put them up first). Then watch the numbers decrease and the items get sold and you will not see one of your items sell until it reaches lower than 101.
I know this cause just yesterday I did this and would watch myself get undercut by people putting ore up at the same price and mine were never sold. I eventually had to lower the price by 1c to undercut them and the cycle continued.
I have no what idea what post Mr Zablinx read or what he was answering. EDIT: Okay after reading his post again he answered why it might have been so cheap in the first place.
The Trading Post changes a fee to list the item and a fee when the item is sold. It suck’s I know, but that is just they way they work. You have to factor in I think the over all 15% fee to list and sell (I think list is 5% and selling is 10%, but I could be wrong).
My advice would also to be to watch items (any) for maybe a week or so to find the high times to sell them. I assume people with things that sell quick such as ore will post a couple for say 20% less then new people go to sell and just do it for the same amount. This allows people to buy (offer) at almost 1s cheaper than they are selling for. The reason I bring this up is maybe that person wanted to get rid of it or maybe other people kept underbidding so it lowered the price drastically.
I lost gold and 250 gems (at least I never received the mail).
I just thought I should say I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with how the trading post information has been presented today, and I don’t like it when threads get so negative.
I mean come-on, it’s harder to get unscheduled information in super official visible places on short notice, and it’s not exactly big enough for the launcher.
And the “Down for Maintenance” screen in the game already tells you basically everything you need to know.
Not to mention I’m sure some of them worked / are working on it throughout the night instead of going home and sleeping, eating delicious pizza, or watching Adventure Time, which they didn’t have to do.
This isn’t direct at just you, but a few others also.
1. It shouldn’t take over 12 hours to get an update on it, unscheduled or not.
2. The Down for Maintenance screen doesn’t say anything about when to expect it up or why it went down to start with.
3. I purchased the $149 version of this game, and like many others, I expect to get what I paid for, this includes announcements and updates on the official forums.
4. They did get the part of the TP up that makes them money. Nothing else though.
5. If there was only a problem with the Gem system, then the player’s part should have been up at the same time they got the Gem system.
6. There is no excuse for not using the official forums for posting of information first, and there is no excuse for having to force customers to use another site to get information for this game.
1. It shouldn’t take over 12 hours to get an update on it, unscheduled or not.
-I am sure they have no ETA as these things never usually do.
3. I purchased the $149 version of this game, and like many others, I expect to get what I paid for, this includes announcements and updates on the official forums.
-No one forced your hand to buy the $149.00 version. You would have been just as good buying the cheapest. This is a new game and with that you will have bugs and issues as usual.
4. They did get the part of the TP up that makes them money. Nothing else though.
-This was down for quite sometime before the issues even started with the TP. The issue with the TP I assume to be a separate issue since it started lagging really bad before it crashed.
Tyler Cole,
Let me just say that we are just as frustrated as you and your fellow dev right now. I know you are probably salary and at most will get comp days unless Areanet has dev staffed 24/7, which I doubt.
The community thanks you for all of the hours you and your development team has devoted to resolving this issue.
I hope someone bought donuts or pizza.
Spinning Brah – It’s called a crash for a reason. I doubt this was planned as they would give notice.
For the person who made this post how is a whole days worth of work gone?
