Still not working…are we not working on this anymore?

Same here. It’s getting worse, too. I’m getting disconnected after a long hang and then I can’t get back in for a while.

I’m trying to runt he train in Queensdale to get used to the new set up, and it will hang up and DC me at the bosses. Shadow Behemoth, Boar, Troll..ALL of them. There is none worse than any other.

What is going on?

Work around worked for 2 days, you made the update and POW…not working anymore.

While you’re working on fixing this half the staff should be making the Native Client so this stops being an issue entirely, forever, amen.

Can you blame people though? This isn’t some small bug or glitch. Without access to the TP the game starts to become borderline unplayable because you can’t sell items, you inventory fills up, and you can’t buy items. If this affected PC and it was in the same state we are now it would be the single biggest thread in the history of the forums and I guarantee you it wouldn’t be filled with posts like, “Hang in there everyone. I know they promised a fix that didn’t happen but stay happy!”

I’d dare say it would be Pitchforks, Torches and screams of “Kill the Monster!” in response. We Mac users would be justified in laughing and sitting back with popcorn and a large Diet Coke to watch THAT show.

I’m not the biggest fan of how ANet has handled the Mac client but to be fair they don’t advert it as a native client. Google Guild Wars 2 for Mac (this was the first page I found when I was looking at buying GW2) and you get this page:

Certainly there are other statements on that page I find misleading as far as Anet’s enthusiasm for the Mac client but it is clearly stated it is run through Cider.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt that you’re not being disingenuous or a paid mole by Anet, that info you dug up is far more recent than the ads, presentation and article from Anet about the games release for Mac. Most of the posts here leading to that sort of nonsense are either lost in the mists of forum time or removed. It’s been an ongoing sore spot for many of us for quite some time. As I said..a lie of omission that was later capped with the truth, silently, later..when few were looking. A classic in the Wizard of Oz vein, but still misdirection and omission.

And it is still our right to clamor for native support. I do sympathize for those scrambling to correct the issue the Hack created but throwing it out as a shield is, more or less, obfuscation. When is the right time to be ask for the means to end 99% of Mac players issues? Is there a correct time? Posts in the forum when nothing is actively falling apart, but still uncomfortably glitchy though not catastrophically so, usually get the following:

1) no response
2) unsympathetic and rude denouncements
3) cries to shut up and enjoy what we have(trickle down economics anyone)
4) “GET A PC!!!” posts

None of the above are proper customer service, appropriate or merited. So while the iron is hot we will strike, get our digs, and we will complain. If you have an honestly better plan that doesn’t involve buying the company, I’d be willing to entertain whatever you think will get us to the eventual goal of a Native Client.

I doubt this is ever going to happen. Pretty sure the only reason we got a Mac Client in the first place was that the only additional cost would be the cider licensing and the occasional developer time if something breaks (as in this situation). Unless they believe that a real Mac Port would get them a whole lot of new customers, I just don’t see it.

Seeing it or not, it’s something we’re allowed to ask for, we should expect, and would find foolish not to clamor for. I talked to the Mac team this morning. A fix for the most recent TP issue is going in today. Regarding the on-going issues in this thread, they tell me that it it actually spans across more than the Mac client. And they’ll have more information on those fixes later.

But one of the biggest question the MAC community has, is if we get a Final version of the MAC GW2 Client.
Will we get a native client?

Can you ask this to the Mac team? Because this is main questions, which is causing a lot of speculations over and over.

And the MAC users are really wondering if they are considered serious customers to Anet (besides a gem purchase). If Anet considers us a serious part of the user group, we would like to get more 1:1 talk to you or Anet others, about the roadmap of the MAC client and what the goal is with it for Anet.

This is the kindest way I have heard anyone put the truth we face every time we log in, find an issue, come here and then get told off by poseurs and ignored by devs.

Can we please start being treated better? They did loads of research once that shows Mac users spend more money than PC users, so we’re spending disproportionately more and getting treated like dog-squeeze.

Bumping this up as we STILL have no Dev response.

1) Make Mac Native
2) Native Mac Client
3) Look at that! Mac is NATIVE now!
4) A client that is native to our beloved Mac!
5) All other problems fixed when we get attention due to a NATIVE MAC CLIENT!

No matter how you shape it all the requests you could possibly get can be fit into the one heading. Having a Mac means reliable. high performance.Gimping us with Cider or pushing us into Bootcamp or Wine is like tying cinder block en masse to the back of Ferrari and calling it fair.

Let’s get real and stop relying on rubber crutches.

I’m having the same issues as listed with everyone else.

Also, it’s probably gratuitous to say this, but the fact is this issue should not BE an issue if you’d just make this NATIVE TO MAC instead of running Cider and dealing with all these insane little issues that pop up every couple of days. Not to mention the real fact that we’ve been getting bent over just trying to load the BLTC anyway! It loads less than half the time even before this little dose of stupidity.

Could we get a Dev to respond to this? It’s not a new complaint, and we do deserve to know as the CONSUMERS.

Can’t play for more than a few minute sat time. This is getting old…

Native client would fix this.

In 17 days an alternative is coming that is Native to Mac and we’re all looking at it with eagerness. We spend more than the Windows users do on things and we’ll gladly jump ship to escape being marginalized for choosing a more rock solid computer.

If you’re talking about the game I think of, I just spend this weekend with that native OSX client crashing every 15 minutes. In comparison the GW2 OSX client barely crashes at all for me. Native client is not a guarantee for better stability or performance.

It’s not going to happen just for the few Mac users in GW2.

PST, it’s not a “client” it’s a wrapper called CIDER.

And I just spent an HOUR since the patch getting punted every 2 minutes until I couldn’t take it anymore. Not to mention you are literally the ONLY person that is supposedly on a Mac that has reported that issue about the mystery game, so it totally doesn’t seem like you’re lying or anything…

Look, we know you like to troll the Mac forums because you feel defensive about your choice of computer, but please do not post as if this call to do what they should have done, and promised, in some way emasculates you. It doesn’t affect you and your opinion is not needed.

I’ve been playing a while now, since September, and the game has only continued to degrade as you lean more and more heavily on the wrapper to make up for your lack of motivation to create a Native OS Client.

At some point, and some point soon, you’re going to lose all the people who ran to GW2 from other games to escape the insanity. It doesn’t take long for word to get round and you lose the players you gained and more to some other game that plays to the strength of the systems involved, not just ONE system.

The Elder Scrolls Online is looking mighty nice right about now.

All the other threads are locked as it seems Anet doesn’t want to hear what we are complaining about…and that’s the reality that this game needs to be made in Mac OS and the cider wrap needs to be taken into an alley and shot in the head.

I’m tired of all the crashes, I’m tired of having a super fast mac and this game runs like garbage. On WoW or any other native Mac OS MMO I have played I can set the dials to ULTRA and not a shudder in Frame Rate…but GW2 that I love so much is crapping on my brain.

Please do the right thing, or else I’m heading to The Elder Scrolls when it comes out and WILL be Native to Mac.
