Hiya, a while ago I’ve just reinstalled GW2 after a long break from the game. Earlier I notice every time I click on the X button to close the launcher without being logged in, it always takes a few seconds before it closes on the desktop. Lol was just wondering is this something common/normal or my PC is acting glitchy again? Many thanks in advance.

This doesn’t make them opposite just b/c there’s some difference in game play mechanics, you can say the mechanics are different but not opposite. Again you’ve failed to logically back up your claims and reasons. /sigh And as I’ve already said stats in games tend to focus on one main purpose. BTW I’m pretty familiar with the mechanics in EQ2, I’ve raided with my guild and played the game for around 8 years. The only one that’s keeping up with this illogical comparison nor making any logical sense is you.

Sorry, I just cannot see how anyone can logically compare the mechanics of EQII summoners to engineer turrets. They are polar opposites as far s pets and mechanics go.

/sigh How are they polar opposites? And why does it matter if they’re stats mechancis are different than GW2, as I’ve already mentioned both stats in EQ2 and GW2 intend to improve the player.

Umm no you said

if you’ve ever have experience with other MMOs before like EQ2 they’ve also decided to let player stats boost up pets since the beginning,

You very specifically “claim” very broadly that "pet’s"and not “summoner’s pets”….Its in black and white.

Your statement was simply factually inaccurate. I was

Whatever, anyways I’ve said pets which obviously I mean the summoner one since based on the discription of the mechanics I was talking about, they were the pet class in EQ2. And I’ve never said all pets.

coglin, Zinwrath is right about this, the problem I find right now is summoned stuff can’t be improved by stats scaling,

That is simply not true. Mesmer “summoned stuff” scales with power, crit chance/damage, and condition damage.

I really do not think anyone cares what other MMOs like EQII does with pets. They have very different game mechanics. As well, turrets are not pets, they are minions.

Your broad statement that pets in EQII are affected by players stats is not accurate either….. I have played EQ, EQII, and EQOA .I have played all 3 since beta and have active accounts.
(well ecxept for EQOA, as that games servers shut down in march.)
Only certain pets for certain classes scale with stats. Some do not what so ever.

/sigh Yes, I know mesmer’s pets scales with stats since it’s a clone. And I know turrets are not really pets, nor are they minions, just saying.

Where did I said all classes, I meant “summoner’s” pets scales with stats in EQ2. They might have different mechanics but that doesn’t mean anything, stats are intended to do one main thing, which is to improve the player, which is the same as in GW2.

You could bind a mouse button as the secondary for your #1 skill already. It doesn’t interfere with WASD movement that way. Or with some mice you could define a button as being 1.

Anyway: I made a macro for this and it seems semi-decent. I didn’t realize how well I could spam it normally until I discovered how little difference the macro makes.

Regarding the delay, mine is based on me pressing the key (obviously now it doesn’t vary though) because I just let it record the time. It’d be pretty sleazy of them to ban you for a super-fast macro on a skill that doesn’t go any faster because of it, though.

I have to admit your idea is brilliant, will definately try it out, thanks.

I know what you mean, it might not be very traditional RPing, but you can still tell RPing exist in the game. In DnD mages were always well known for using daggers, while thiefs are considered as bandits so it’s not suprising to see them use pistols, while ranger’s lore they’ve been well known to duel wield with swords since DnD. You can say they mod the RPing a bit in GW2 but it’s still based upon something that is concrete.

BTW what’s up with EQNext? I kinda got bored of EQ2, there’s just no artwork in the game, if EQ3 is made by the same devs I don’t really want to play it, lol.

About the tanks, choppers and lasers I think it’s just for a bit of fun and jokes, other MMOs sometimes have stuff like this. I believe the devs would still prefer to focus the class and gameplay mechanics based on the history and lore of the game. This is just the feeling or impression I have from them b/c when I read the engineer lore they gave a pretty good reason why this class was created saying 200 years have passed between GW1 and 2 and having engineers and guns to exist seems pretty rational.

They do have loads of cool skills, I love mine as is, but you don’t play classes for ranges, it might be a part of the class flavour but its not the reason. You play classes for their mechanics, mesmers for clones, rangers for you animal companion, etc.

It wouldn’t be an advantage if its balanced. And we do ok in damage but its not awesome unless your using grenades.

There’s many reasons why ppl play they their classes, but many do consider range, to melee, or tank to be a factor and preference if you’ve played other MMOs like EQ2, WoW, Aion, DDO, etc. In fact I chosed a ranger b/c I like to focus on using range tactics to kill my enemy. And of course like you’ve said pets, clones, etc are also another factor.

Another reason is due to history, lore and RPing engineers just aren’t a long range class. In history flintlock guns were inferior in range to bows and crossbows.

Zinwrath man you really need to calm down, btw I do agree with you grenades aren’t that useful on ranged mobile targets.

First i like ranting dont take it personally its fun for me, and second thats because your not an idiot. Which is why it was annoying when you kept going around saying (hunters are the ranged role) when you should know especially if you played one…that no class has a set role. Hunters can be mellee or mid range as well if they choose…infact the most popular competitive weapon choices are 1hnd sword, and short bow atm. I play a greatsword using one so i’m a mellee hunter (used to be the strongest option for them back in early beta). Other professions all have several roles they can fill as far as melle, mid range, long range.

But if you want my personal opinion…i think the reason engineers DONT have a long range weapon is the same reason they dont have a mellee (once again not including kits). We do not get weapon swapping (which i assume is balanced by our toolbelt allowing us too many options). So if your a profession with only one weapon…you do not get the luxery of a hunter who can go short bow untill someone gets up next to you then whip out your sword and unleash hell on them. So it makes most sense to give them weapon options that are decent at most range. This is just my opinion. But it makes the most logical sense to me.

You can like ranting but not all people would feel comfortable with it, just don’t take things too seriously. About rangers usually I see them with a short bow the most, not sure about swords but guess I missed that.

I assume you’re saying engineers don’t have long range is due to it just doesn’t fit for them, though I believe the devs made us this way is b/c it’s mainly based on history and RPing.

I know what you’re trying to say Thamyris about rangers having melee and good range, but engineers already have a lot of amazing feats, we got superb aoe dmg which rangers are really poor at, and we do awesome in mid range dmg, we can melee pretty well with tool kit. Giving engineers a long range advantage would start to defeat the purpose of playing other classes.

What’s that thing you have there Westley?

That’s the Wunderwaffe DG-2 from Call of Duty: Nazi Zombies. It was a steampunk-themed weapon that fired a bolt of chain lightning, instantly vaporzing up to 10 zombies within 5 meters of each chain. Obviously, it would need some damage tweaks to be applied here… although, in hindsight, scrap that. I need a good thief zapper. ;D

Anyhow I think it’d make a great kit. It’d fit well with the engineer playstyle, inventions and mechanical back lore. Also has a very steampunk feel, obviously, which some of the engineer’s unique quirks fit quite well with.

Since I got the rifle turret skill on my engineer, I find the Bullet out of Belt skill on our toolbelt kinda useless or hard to use. I mean my fingers have to reach for F key every 10 seconds just to do a bit of small dmg. Was thinking they could increase it’s damage by 3x and cool down to 30 seconds like the other toolbelt skills from our turrets.

For example it sprays out 3 bullets at the enemy doing 3x the dmg instead of just 1 bullet. Duno about this but what do you guys think?

About the tool tip bug I had experienced the same thing on my engineer, everytime I use my rifle turret I only see it do about half the damage of what it says on the tool tip. Though I’m not sure is the tool tip a bug or our damage is bugged.

I have to strongly agree with Aristio on this one, not trying to offend any folks here but expecting engineers to have almost every feat in the game is kind of silly and defeats the purpose of playing other classes. Not to mention in polls we’re already rated as the most fun class to play.

Though I’m ok with a bit of modern weapony just for fun and jokes, but adding any more would seriously out balance the lore in the game. Remember the GW2 timeline the engineers are supposed to be the birth of the early gunman, not a advance technological class that existed in the last couple of centuries.

And like Aristio has mention it’s pretty obvious in GW2, in 3 of the adventuring classes rangers are mainly long range dps, engineers mid range and thiefs focusing on melee.

I know there’s other classes that have many skills that don’t get affected by our stats, but still was thinking it would be more fun if we can also increase our turret dmg, after all we’d lose a lot if we’re concentated on a turret strategy.

To Magic night and anyone else argueing about whether or not sniper rifles should/could exist in the game. I’d like to point out they already do…there is already a rifle that is called “sniper rifle” that you can earn in pvp/pve. Also this game has magical teleporters laser rifles and tanks AND helicopters…. So the whole arguement is sorta pointless dribble that i’m not sure why anyone would make or argue but whatever.

End point, sniper rifles already exist in the game “the whisper rifle skin has a laser scope as well, beleive the legendary has a scope too” so….its obviously an option. I see no problem with putting it in, to say it would be over powered is to suggest arenanet wouldnt balance it….not that the weopon itself is op. What if the toolkit used a chainsaw….would that make it over powered? no it would be a different animation. So stop with the pointless dribble lol.

Thank you so much for putting a stop to all these Magic Night nonsense.

And now the ridiculous CQB definition argument too which our ‘friend’ here has got out of hand (again, sigh) where the original argument was that a long range prowess for engineer will make them OP since we already have strong “CQB”.

Pretty obvious he haven’t really played a ranger before… or a warrior or elementalist…

/sigh You and coglin are just bitter at me b/c my opnions stand against the idea of having a sniper rifle in the game. BTW I have also play a ranger and I know what they’re like, but I’d say when it comes to close mid range combat a engineer, stuff like net turrents, and other turrets, our rifle’s net and grenades would give us a pretty good advantage against most other classes.

Unless your using CQB as something other then the standard close quarters battle, they are one in the same.

Do you even know what is close quarter battle? It’s a type of tactical manuvere use by SWATs in raids, consider as close/mid range strategy.

Yes I do know, thanks for asking.
Here is a excerpt from the first line of the “wiki” on it, since you hold the wiki as the all mighty power.

“engage the enemy with personal weapons at very short range, potentially to the point of hand-to-hand combat or fighting with hand weapons such as swords or knives”

In the context of this game and your reference to rangers, it seems that my previous post of close quarters ranger weapons is pretty applicable.

Greatsword
Axes
Sword
Dagger
Torch

So I am unclear as to what your misunderstanding.

It all boils down to either a ranged attack or a melee attack as far as the general game terminology is concerned. Every class has both, even if some are to more limited extent then others. From the list of obvious close quarters as listed above

to the :
Long Bow
Short Bow
Axes

That rangers have a strong sense of both, they are quit diverse, especially with pets that specialize per situation a well.

Lol you’ve said wiki was inaccurate and now you’re using it, BTW I was refering to SWAT type CQB which guns are used in combat, just PM me now before we both derail this thread any further.

Well ummm, because it is a “wish list” and sometimes an engineer wish’s they could hit a ranger with his rifle as soon as the ranger is close enough to hit them with his long bow.

A lot of that idea-ology comes from the fact that it seems backwards to the average mind that a bow is easily out ranging a gun. Fantasy game or other wise. Right, wrong, or indifferent, that is just how it strikes the average person, and with good reason.
