IS F#@1ING STUPID
Remove this mechanic.
There are ways of making it difficult or challenging without being utterly stupid about it. Remove this feature Now
HAHAHA yea right Wintston, you’d be lucky
Probably too busy trying to release new content to fix older stuff as usual.
Smite – Guardians scepter skill.
I’m not entirely sure why Smite is not a symbol, everything about it points to the intention of it being one.
You know, when the game first came out I thought “Yes”! Nice Idea! Put an end to the cons of using the holy trinity.
However I think this was a mistake. This is a thread pointing out some of the long term effects this has had and also an answer as to why the game becomes boring so quickly. I believe in the long run, getting rid of it has damaged guild wars 2.
Role = Purpose – No holy trinity means that nothing is special
A massive part of any game is to have a purpose and a role to fulfil and whilst it’s entirely possible to do that no matter what class you are, that’s exactly what makes it lose it’s charm in the long run. Since everyone can fulfil a role, nothing is special. It also, in my humble opinion, makes the game very messy and decreases longevity of the game.
Too Item dependant – PvE = Zergway – PvP = Solway
Since everything can do everything, all the game has really come down to is this:
“How well can each class zerg?”…
“Ok warrior,”
Yells “OK GUYZ, ALL RE-ROLL A WAR”
There are many other things I’d like to go into detail with however Tera has finished patching and I wanna play. So I’ll summerize with this:
The above mentality has been almost encouraged by the way the game has been designed and has really ruined the overall experience for many players, (Please let me know if you agree or disagree with this). After you have zerged your way through the game, you’re left at the end not really seeing the point of it all and end up quitting.
I think that if they wanted to remove the downside to the holy trinity of not being able to find people of specific roles, then all you needed to do was design a game that allowed you to switch your professions so that you only needed to play 1 character, but were able to freely switch between different roles on that character. As you progress through the game you earn rewards and skills for that role that you’re currently playing. THAT’S how it should have been done, not this absolute mess.
Anyway, rant over. Your turn. Does anyone else miss the holy trinity?
Even if you don’t, would you think that having a holy trinity AND a system that avoids “GLF HEALER” all the time would actually add some more depth to the game?
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just spouting nonsense again
Please would you impliment a client side feature that allows me to add notes to different players.
Anet the system you have really isn’t good enough.
The guild system, the friend and party system, and the general UI that you currently have is very cumbersome and horrible to use.
I know a far better party system is on the way but that doesn’t excuse the fact that you’ve left it shoddy for a year
The guild system is cumbersome and horrible, you cant even copy paste from the MOTD… Why did you allow that in the first place??? Even in guild wars 1 you changed it to allow people to for easier link and TS Address access. The management system is clunky and crap as well.
You cant copy paste in the same way or use short cuts the same way either when talking. This is very annoying and adds to the frustration when trying to manage and sometimes even just play.
The friend system is just as obtuse. Seriously what the absolute ~@#! were you guys thinking when you released it like this?? Having 2 different naming conventions is just daft and if it worked it wouldn’t be a problem, but there are still tonnes of buggs to be worked out.
Also why the hell have you made “invite to party” and “join party” a different feature??? The game should automatically decide on the situation instead of getting these ANNOYING MESSAGES that tell you they cant be found!!
This current system is beneath you and I know you can do so much better than this. I expected improvements within the year but your GUI Should be your TOP PRIORITY Right now. Nothing else!!
I’d like to know exactly why the managers at anet have allowed this, it really does show an incredible short sightedness especially when such things have allready been addressed in the previous game
… You know there are still tonnes of things that have been a problem since day one… This pretty much pains a clear picture to a rushed release which is something that you said you’d never do. I highly recommend that when the time comes that you do release something new, do not do what you did in guild wars 2. Even if you say release was not rushed I will not believe you in the slightest.
There are so many amazing concepts in guild wars 2 yet for some reason there’s just tonnes of other things that ruin it. I don’t understand why a company that coded their own engine for guild wars 2 have issues with such simple things like GUI and making a clean and less frustrating one to use.

How is anything “overpriced”, when they are all optional convenience items?
Just because they are convenience or asthetical items doesn’t mean they can’t be overpriced.
What I’m debating here is whether it’s slightly too high because a price that’s just a bit too high may be counter productive to both anet and players alike.
There have been many times where I’ve thought “if there was an option for me to pay for 400 gems I’d get it” or “If that item was 400-600 gems and not 800 I’d buy it”
Bottom line is I am questioning the productivity / effectiveness of what they currently have because high prices mixed with very unflexible choices often puts people off, including me, and I have tonnes of money to spend. That’s why I made this thread. To highlight the possibility that they could be losing many sales due to something that could have more thought put into it
Considering that players have the option to convert in-game Gold for Gems, effectively cutting off any type of revenue from microtransactions, renders your “losing sales” point moot.
It doesn’t make it moot. It makes it available and fair, which is fine. People won’t pay money for gold then use that to pay for gems will they?
Therefore obviously I’m talking about the people who use real money to support Anet.
Someone stated “Adding more payment options would be a start”. I couldn’t agree more
Bag of Versitility
Right click the bag to choose the following options:
Accepting certain types of loot
Lock the bag – will not be rearranged
Hide bag: Items will not be shown in shops
Etc etc
Other suggestions based upon this idea:
Make it an Ascended item and craftable?
Increase capacity to 25?
These suggestions are only secondary. The main idea is to be able to set and customize what you want the bag to do

I’d like to see an item that reverts armor, weapons, trinkets, soul bound crafting tools back to an account bound state so that you can use them on another character on your account.
How restricted it is made would be up to Anet, however the reason for this suggestion is because I’d quite like to be able to put something I have onto another character.
Obviously this would be a gem store service which is why I placed it into the black lion section
What do you guys think?
Anet, I love you, I love the game you made, I love the content you release, I love the effort that goes into the game. Therefor I am perfectly happy to support you.
~~~~ However ~~~~
Don’t you feel that SOME, and please I highlight the word “SOME”, item’s are just a bit too over priced? Coming from a company who made a new record for launch sales and who have always prefered the concept of being able to earn anything and not just buy it?
I’m refering to fun asthetic things like the flute, town clothing, finishers, dance moves, and so on. Don’t you think that, whilst they are cool things they should be made more available to people to some small degree?
Charging a minimum of £8.50 and giving no personal choice as to how many gems people wish to buy seems somewhat greedy to me and this rings warning bells in my head because whilst we might all agree that it changes nothing about game play therefor it isn’t a problem, what worries me is the slight change in ethos and mentality. This is a very different attitude from the Anet that made the original, and whilst I think it actually works as an advantage for both player and game developer, I feel you are milking your playerbase slightly too much.
Also I think that the everlasting gathering tools, considering that they are 800 gems each, should be account bound and not character bound. For soul bound items I think they should cost 400-600 at most.
Anyway, I’d be interested to hear how many people agree or disagree with what I’ve said and I’m hoping that the majority will agree that items are ever so slightly over priced and that mixed with fixed gem prices feels slightly insulting to those that paid £50.
This is a VERY Basic feature and quite frankly I’m astounded that you haven’t implemented this ANET – It needs to be right up on the priority list
I’m fairly certain I’m not the only one to have mentioned this but it’s slightly pathetic that you haven’t done this. I see you as one of the best developers to date so maybe my high opinion of you is why i feel a little exasperated. There are many other little niggles too like the guild system being HIGHLY underdeveloped despite my commenting on it in EVERY beta, however this isn’t a priority.
You have a reconnect system in gw, Get it done in gw2 asap please – really frustrating as it affects the entire team not just 1 person – I don’t like wasting an entire hour because of 3 consecutive player disconnects by different people
Should i mention this anywhere else or just leave it at that?
When activating Perfect Inscriptions the damage reduction still says 10% on signet of judgement and only one condition cured for signet of healing
Is this just an icon bug or does the trait not work at all?
I have seen some previous posts on other sources that basically want ANET to change the price of t3 cultural armor or make it have exotic stats in order to justify spending a lot of money on it. I decided to create this thread to add an alternative suggestion to changing what exists already and add a different spin on the perspective on this argument / debate.
= Personal opinion =
Whilst I wholeheartedly agree that for mere cosmetics it’s just made superfluous to the other armors out there – and I agree that there needs to be an exotic cultural armor set I dislike the idea of changing what already exists when it can be improved…
= What I agree with =
Here’s why I believe each cultural set should be more than just cosmetics: Each race has a different set of attributes (For eg Norn have power, vitality and toughness and other races have different combinations etc) – I like that this breaks away from the “norm” of Item nomenclature AND represents the three attributes that race is associated with.
= What I don't agree with =
I don’t agree that ANET should change the current T3 rare – but build upon it. Make T3 Armor the base requirements for an exotic T4 Armor set. Similar to how legendary weapons are created, only with less expensive materials. This can lead onto the requirements for an Ascended / Legendary T5 Set. Thus we develop and build upon the economy, lore and depth instead of changing or destroying what already exists.
= Other thoughts =
On a side note I also believe that an allegiance system should be put in place to allow people to buy and wear the set of the culture that they have allegiance with (similar to luxon and kurzick factions in the original guildwars) I will add this to a different thread shortly
= See the reddit debate here =
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/14lib9/suggestion_improve_cultural_armor_options_tier_4/
This is quite a simple suggestion with multiple branching possibilities stemming from it.
= Personal opinion =
I thought of this since it was not only something that ANET implemented in the original Guildwars with Luxon and Kurzick but as a way of accessing another races cultural armor set.
The restrictions I would like to see is that you can only have favour with one other race.
= Other thoughts =
Other possibilities stemming from this idea could include a sub storyline – one for each race, (Although content wise this would be huge – and to be worth it it would need to be its own expansion.
@ Anet if you could comment on this thread I would appreciate it.
