1. I still come to the forums but don’t play the game, so I can monitor the ascended situation, and when it is fixed and we have proper feedback from Anet on their plans, I will return to playing. Until then, I refuse to log on out of principle.
2. I started playing less during the Lost Shores event, because the new content didn’t really interest me and it seemed kinda weak, but I was constantly being harassed by my mailbox telling me things were going on that I didn’t care about. So I just decided to not play that weekend, but the more I thought about ascended gear and the original manifesto, the more I realised I wasn’t going to play.
3. After rewatching the manifesto, I realised this isn’t the game they advertised to me, and they caved in to the WoW fanboys who wanted a gear treadmill. Fingers crossed they sort it out, this is Guild Wars 2, not WoW. Grow a pair and stick by your guns, Anet.
99% of the game is the same to how it was 1 week ago.
1% of the game has now caused upset.
How have you come to the conclusion that end game gear, something that a majority of mmo players strive for counts for 1% of the game?
Besides, it’s not about how much of the game they have changed in 1 patch, it’s the promises they have broken. I bought this game because the idea of everyone having the same stats on their gear was very very appealing. If I’d have known they’d have gone back on such a huge promise, they’d have never got my money in the first place.
Man its a dying age I hope the world won’t end on december 21 because I really want to see this entitlement generation next years demands in mmo’s . This is the first mmo where you have everything handed to you on a plate and too many options for the casual crowd to get into high end gear. People in here saying they want rollbacks on gear now ? Sorry bro some of us have ascended backpieces already forget about it.
Some of us are running fractals 10+ on a daily basis because we are gamers afterall and we don’t expect everything to be served on a silver plate. People crying about a ring and a backpiece on a 200 thread page is a joke indeed. What’s next demand on free legendary’s drop in every daily dungeon event ?
Im starting to miss the wow crowd /sad days.
You’re only entitled to what you’re PROMISED. We were PROMISED no gear treadmill, this is one of the defining features of this game that sets it apart from the likes of WoW, and part of what made me buy this game in the first place. To go back on a promise is frankly unacceptable, not only from a developer to a consumer point of view but in life in general.
I’m glad you have time to run dungeons 10+ times a day, I for one don’t and frankly don’t even want to. Guild Wars 2 was supposed to be a game that you played the way you wanted to play it. But now, we’re being bottlenecked into running dungeons, which I cannot stand in this game, my reasons however have no place in this post.
So until they get rid of this treadmill, I’m done with this game, infact even if they do get rid of it, I still don’t know if I will come back, because when a promise gets broken on this kind of scale, the trust is gone. Again I’d just like to stress, you’re only entitled to what you’re promised, and we were not promised a WoW clone.
I dislike the direction this game is going in. If you feel you need to add some sort of grind (which to be fair you probably do, it’s what keeps people playing) don’t make it a gear grind, it’s unfair on those of us who don’t have the time to run dungeons every day (or in my case, just don’t want to as I dislike dungeons overall, but that’s an argument for another day!), and it goes against everything you promised. When I was done farming my armor skins which felt like a great achievement once I’d got all of it, and I was relieved to be able to avoid dungeons from that point onwards. Make more titles and such, like you did in GW1. Infact, while you’re at it you could probably do with learning a lot of lessons from GW1….
Hello everyone.
Just a quick reminder: try to stay on topic and avoid personal battles or off-topic posting as this does not bring anything meaningful to the other people writing in it.
Thanks!
I’m so fed up of coming to posts hoping to find that a member of staff has somehow responded positively to this quite frankly very important topic, only to have it be the same thing every single time; “Just a quick reminder”. Seriously, you’ve clearly been reading this, don’t you have anything else to say?
Broken promises (ascended gear), stale spvp, zergfest wvw, a sloppy replacement for the holy trinity, an unfinished game (broken traits etc), unbalanced professions (a warrior for example is a fantastic addition to any dungeon regardless of build, others not so much) disappointing personal story from ~level 50 onwards, horrible end game zone (Orr), the list goes on and on but I really need to get to bed ^^
Excellent post.
I too have been following GW2 for many many years. I remember watching the manifesto video and how excited all the developers were, I could tell they were so passionate about this game and… I just didn’t think in a hundred years that all those happy smiley faces who I genuinely believed were to be complete two faced liars.
I can’t explain enough of my disappointment any better than the OP, but the nail in the coffin for me was the Ascended gear. Hell, I don’t even pve but just the concept of anet going against everything they said just infuriates me.
I so wanted this game to be everything they promised, yet it barely achieved a fraction, due to broken promises.
Hi, just wanted to report that as an Elementalist, the skill “Ride the Lightning” kicks you out of the zone that the heart “Disrupt the Nightmare Court at Briarthorn Den” puts you into. It’s the one where you wear a nightmare court disguise and have to duel nightmare court members and free prisoners. I’m guessing the coding is making my character outside of the zone try to use the ability, opposed to my disguised version inside the zone. Cheers.
I can’t seem to find the old thread for this subject.
My character’s (who I made on day one) major traits always reset between logouts in the mists (the build is the same, but the major traits are blank), however I don’t have the issue with any of my other later created characters. From what I understand, it’s a problem that got fixed within a few days for newly created characters, but the older pre patch characters seem to be stuck with the problem.
I doubt it makes any difference but I’m an engineer.
Hopefully you guys are working on this but as I said, I can’t seem to find the old thread. Thanks.
Oh dear, this isn’t good at all. It will totally put people off rolling bunker builds and support builds, which are crucial to the game right now. /Signed for keep it out of the game.
My biggest gripe is not the damage itself, but how little effort it is taking the thief player to dish it out in the first place. Many other professions need some sort of build up to use their burst (100B, Dragon’s Tooth etc). It’s pretty frustrating when you have to pull out all the stops against someone quite literally pressing 1 button over and over. But I guess that’s how they are designed, I just don’t like it, it feels cheap.
The moa does need work. I outright refuse to use it in 1v1’s because it’s such a lame iwin button, however I have absolutely no problem using it when I’m outnumbered. It’s a shame there are no other genuine ways to win fights (in most cases) when you’re outnumbered because of the downed system, if that was removed I’d probably not even use moa, but that’s an argument for another day
Good thing Dishonored came out, I won’t be playing GW2 til it’s fixed. It makes my favourite part of the game flat out unplayable.
Only happens on the character I made on launch day, everyone else seems to be fine.
I play a few professions in spvp, and overall this patch is a joke. Nerfs across the board for the majority of professions (even elementalists, lol). I flat out do not understand the logic of it when there are still so many traits and the like that simply DO NOT WORK. Why does increasing the cooldown on phantasms by a few seconds and rearranging guardian greatsword abilities take priority over actually fixing things? I can tell you now, they say they are ‘serious’ about esports, this game is nowhere even close to it, sometimes it still feels like a game in beta.
I don’t have much trouble with theives, build for condition removal and lots of toughness. Use your countless aoe’s from scepter/dagger and staff for when they stealth, use DS when they burst (spam 2 hurr durr), fill the rest in with building up bleeds and kiting. Necro’s are tanky and shouldn’t be an easy target for theives.
I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on builds in WvW. My opinon is that our sPvP builds should be applied in WvW instead of our PvE ones. I mean, at the end of the day WvW is more PvP than PvE right? Kinda sucks that I want to run dungeons as a support but I want to own face in WvW but I have to respec every time to do it, when I can enter sPvP and build however I want regardless.
Just wondering what opinons people have on this, is it really another necessary gold sink or just a royal pain in the …. ?
