One thing I’ve done to my warrior build is focus a little on conditions, Poison and Cripple.
Running a specific setup, I immobilize anytime I cripple and inflict poison on weapon swap. Running this with a Sigil of Malice really can destroy a lot of mobility and regen that a LOT of classes focus on.

I’ve had some decent success in 1v1 play, roaming in WvW. The only trouble I’ve had is against Mesmers and really, that probably is just me sucking at fighting mesmers.

It works for me though nicely, that poison is nasty

Too much focus on dmg output rather than survivability.

Shield offhand is definitely one of the best choices for wvw play, especially outside of zerg situations.

I never wrote a guide for this but check it out.

Defiant Stance Vs Healing Signet

in Warrior

Malystryx.4172

I run Healing Signet, short CD, passive regen and condition resistance buff.

In a zerg scenario, if you get targeted, chances are every condition in existence will come down on you. If you run into me, I spam immobile and cripple, alongside poison. The condition resistance will be way more beneficial than the incoming dmg conversion. Sure, you’ll heal more, maybe but you’re still rooted. You’d just die as the zerg rolls over you.

I run sw warhorn / gs on my warrior, I take advantage of the leap a lot. Warhorn is good, even better if you run tactics warhorn trait.

Not optimal for hardcore play but it’s not terrible and thus you should be fine in regular play

Is it time to let go of Tactics?

I keep it, if two warriors in a group, one runs ps, I usually take middle / top / middle. Warhorn 4 for swiftness stacking and condition clear, warhorn 5 for might stack and condition clear, vigorous shouts for condition clear and fgj recharge time along with to the limit.

Really it’s a great trait line even without phalanx.

It’s extremely nice to see people who know how to play a heal Guardian.

Full Ventari gear, superior runes of the monk, hammer with cleric stats, all Knight accessories. Spec for straight healing power, healing symbols and self heal when boons are applied and you have a absolute tank. I’ll link a build later but I agree, Guardians are awesome.

Legendary Armor and Runes??

I wouldn’t be surprised if this got ignored, since it has been around since stat swapping got added to weapons. Rune/Sigil library is a good solution where runes/sigils you’ve used on a legendary get stored and can be equipped again at will.

Truth is unless you like the skin it will probably be much cheaper and more efficient to make multiple ascended sets and equip different sets of runes. And if you are planning to swap expensive runes frequently it will be so much cheaper that the legendary might as well just be a pricey skin.

Fingers crossed for the rune/sigil library, don’t count on it though.

Multiple ascended armor sets? That’s um….insane. No one aside from hardcore market flippers have that kind of gold to make sets with. Also, what are you basing cost on? Ascended is incredibly expensive by itself, especially light armor due to silk being so high demand, and frankly you have no idea how expensive the armor is. If its based on Raid farming as I suspect it will be, the only investment could be time in clearing Raid’s to get the pieces for all we know. Nothing is substantiated beyond we are getting them.

I agree on the difficulties related to rune/sigils. However I think it will end up being throw something generic on it for the leg up for most players.

You don’t have to be a hardcore market player to afford it. Really, time is your biggest hurdle.

I have 4 ascended armor sets, 1 light and 3 heavy. Zerker, Soldier and Ventari(because banner warriors used to be kitten ed good). I also was contemplating the issue between runes as I run Scholar on my zerker, Strength on Soldier’s and Monk runes on Ventari. I love the idea of different builds but kitten Strength runes are now almost 10g a piece…

I will probably run Scholar if nothing changes and maybe switch between Zerker and Sinister stat setups(Meditation Guardian ya?)

But I would like something for us! Rune swapping and storage anyone?

As much as I support this, due to the major nature of acquiring ascended trinkets and accessories, I highly doubt this would happen. Mainly because you normally can choose what you get, stat wise.

Ascended weapons and armor is different. Unless you crafted them, your only option was rng which really didn’t allow you to choose an item that matched your playstyle. Thus, you were kittened.

With trinkets, you have rng, yes. But more than likely, your first trinket will be purchased, thus you CHOOSE what you get.

I do support, and would love to see them add that function but I can see why they wouldn’t.

Sigil of Force and Sigil of Frailty imo. Unless you’re running with people who know how to stack vuln, you’re better off speeding through with frailty. Overall DPS will probably be higher. Even in solo play, 10s of Vuln every 2-3 seconds aint bad.

Just my two cents, may or may not maximize dps. I’m too lazy to test/google it.

Axe/Shield – combo sigils hydro and leeching
Greatsword – poison on attack, increased condi duration gives 9-10 seconds of poison(2/heal) plus Bladetrail is now a 6s cripple AND 2s immobilize. Weapon swapping to axe/shield with Throw Axe also immobilizes.

After running this is wvw a bit, seems sturdy. The immobilize setup seems to work great for catching fleeing players, poison stack also cuts down survival odds.

Yep because you don’t need 500 stacks.

140 stacks at baseline 100 dmg is still 14,000 dmg, five TIMES what prepatch damage was.

Base numbers used are not reflective of actual numbers and tbh condition specced players are probably doing the equivalent of 200-300 dmg.

And good night, have fun fixing the patch. Just remember, I need to have fun on my Guardian so don’t fix it too fast.

Vitality…. Looool

Take a moment and reread my numbers post.

Then realize just how MUCH Vitality you’d need to mitigate the increase in condition damage in game now.

I’m not employed by anet – It’s just that my build before this patch was to migate conditions. Thus I had (and have, I’m lazy) valk armor and my SA line worked perfectly. If you add another stat things will become more complicated – or maybe they already are – maybe I am glad I don’t work for anet, but then again, I wonder why they are surprised – was pretty obvious how it would turn out on paper alone.

My banner regen build was built upon banner regen and condition clearing during pve fights. Even had sigil that cleared conditions.

Not possible to keep that viable right now, icd means you’d be dead before off cooldown.

Sad to say but it’s happening in game now.

To once again, bring math into it before I pass out.

If condition damage = 100. 25 was the cap.

Let’s do a baseline…. 50 K health. That’s a lot but kitten it.

Before, 100 × 25 =2500 dmg.

Now(and remember there isn’t reallllllly a huge nerf to damage so we’re going to use the same baseline 100 dmg.)

100 dmg x 500 stacks = 50,000 dmg.

Before, when you took 2500 dmg, you could counter. Now, there is no such counter.

To make vitality the mitigation, you would need to increase the baseline vitality by tenfold. Or fivefold really, you might live long enough to cast a condition clear.

Can’t tone down the dmg. It’s simple math.

If base condition dmg before was 100 dmg…

100 × 25 = 2500 dmg.

Even if you did a 75% nerf… Condition dmg at 25, with a cap of 1500, let’s say we hit 500.

25 × 500 = 12,500 dmg.

That’s not even getting CLOSE to the actual limit. And that’s also assuming a 75% nerf is done to conditions… In order to get back to normal, you’d need a 98% nerf in conditions.

2 × 1500 = 3000 dmg.

Not gonna happen, you may as well wipe conditions out the game.

And if a power build crits for 2k and you have 25 people all critting for 2k, that is 50k damage.

Remove damage from the game?

While it’s late and I’m running on fumes, is direct damage not mitigated by toughness? Conditions have no such mitigation to my knowledge and , while I may be misremembering that difference, that is what’s breaking combat right now.

Add mitigation for conditions and we’re back on track.

Can’t add a cap. The removal of the cap is the cornerstone of this entire patch, even more than the trait system.

It would be such a huge blow to the forward development of the game.

Conditions cannot be nerfed with the cap being so high. The only way to correct it with a nerf is such a reduction in dmg that it’s nearly nonexistent.

Every mob will need some form of condition reduction that scales to the amount of stacks on a mob.

While I like the slightly simplified trait system, to say someone’s build is useless, which is essentially what you’re asking, is entirely self conceited and pretty much says that you’re an idiot for not following meta.

As for builds that didn’t do anything for us…. Obviously you’ve never seen the awe that is a ridiculously OP banner regen warrior.

The 1500 cap won’t be reached(I haven’t seen Teq yet) mainly because everything dies so fast.

They cut the dmg down but with that high of a limit, the exponent is making the nerf irrelevant.

Quantity is destroying quality.

If condition dmg before hit 100 dmg over 25, that’s 2500. The game is optimized for that.

Even if you nerf it to 25 dmg. A 75% nerf, spread over 500 stacks…That’s 12,500 dmg.

Assuming we can hit the 1500 cap, that’s a stupid 37,500 dmg.

And thats with a 75% nerf in conditions which did NOT happen as much as some may think.

Just figured that I’d throw my two cents in. While I agree it’s nice to throw things in, changes such as these need some SERIOUSLY HARDCORE feedback. It seems that either A: Feedback wasn’t taken or B: Feedback was taken but ignored mostly. This update needed to be worked on and fine tuned more than it was because now, you’re rushing to make a fix and more than likely said fix will break something else.

As for my class, zerker warriors were already one of the best regarded pve classes…. I’m not entirely sure why you guys made them even better since they didn’t really need the buff but… Well THANKS! Now if you could just move banner regen back to a defensive Trait line….

Lets talk warriors :)

Zerker really is all you will need in pve. Full zerker, scholar runes and a good, knowledgeable group. If you like running newer players, make a soldiers set with hoelbrak or tanky runes.

My warrior is Miran Cross, 3 ascended sets, Zojja/Chorben/Ventari. I run full meta in dungeons with a experienced group and really, it’s just fine. Know your fights, learn to dodge killing hits and rotations.

And now, always check what another warrior is running, build wise. Only 1 should be running Phalanx, the other should focus on personal dps.

It’s the condition damage stack. A lot of people are actually condition built but with the cap at 25, you never saw it. Now that there is technically no cap, you have 400 bleeds and burns from condition specced players and yet, no resistance from mobs.

Not entirely sure how this got past qa but it was obvious as to what would happen. EVERY boss needs to be redone.

Patch stuck @ 99%? Try this!

Malystryx.4172

So I decided to create this after running into the same dreaded problem I’ve been viewing on the forums here for the past 24 hours since the new patch was released. I had the issue where my patcher would get to the last file and then subsequently stop downloading it. my dl speed would tinker down til it was nil and no rebooting, reinstalling, turning off firewalls, etc. would work.

HDD space is fine, etc etc. I can’t guarantee this will work but hey, if you’ve got time to kill, you want a simple, EASY fix(or attempt at least), try this.

Disclaimer I take no responsibility for any issues caused from failure to follow these directions or from failure to incorrect execute any of the following actions listed. I trust most of you are tech savvy enough to understand how to do this but there are special people in the world. That being said, if the directions are followed, there should be ZERO risk to your game and other files listed.

FIX LISTED HERE!

Step 1: Find your GW2.exe! This can be done, if you’ve forgotten where it is by right clicking your GW2.exe shortcut and hitting “Open File Location”.

Step 2: Once you’ve located your exe, right click on that and hit “Create Shortcut”. It’ll go and create a shortcut in the folder alongside your exe which is a great place for it.

Step 3: Right click on the shortcut and hit “Properties”. You’ll open up a window that looks like this!

http://i39.tinypic.com/345yo79.jpg

Step 4: Inside the target line, at the end you need to add -repair and hit apply.
The entire target line should look something like this…

“G:\Guild Wars 2 Main\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair

Of course, depending on where your EXE is, the target line will vary. You can see where I added -repair though.

Step 5: After hitting apply, run the shortcut! This will run the patcher in a verify state and will scan for any missing/corrupted files, including the last file needed! It takes just a few minutes, depending on HDD speed and other factors as well. I ran mine in about 4 minutes and it worked perfectly!

Go ahead and give this a try, I cannot guarantee it will work but there’s a good chance it will. If you haven’t had issues while playing before this patch, the likelihood of it working is high. I had no problems playing before this patch and this is the only thing I tried that’s fixed it. Reinstalling, rebooting, turning off firewalls, etc. have all been failures.

I recommend contacting tech support via a ticket if you can’t resolve the issue through this method or by restarting, turning off firewalls, etc.

If your issue is resolved or if you have any questions, post below and lemme know!!!

Shout out to ArenaNet and NCSOFT for making GW2 and ArenaNet Tech Support for providing…well, tech support for those of us who can’t fix this issue via normal methods!
