Also, anyone who enjoys WvW but is looking for smaller groups, and a more relaxed (Not hardcore but still play serious, just with more laughs) take a look at [CLAV].
We run guild WvW training on Mondays and Thursdays, and generally will be running small groups during the week. Fridays are pretty much do what’s needed. Mostly we run as a guild and go help out whoever needs it.
With the free transfers coming up, and if you want to compete in WvW with a great group of people, but not have strict the requirements of a serious WvW guild, please contact me through this site or in game, or you can also contact our guild leaders:
Juz Chillin – Chillin.4503
Tanya Aotearoa – Eudoxia M.5390
Check out CD.
CLAV runs small roaming/havok groups, we could use another group to coordinate with.
We focus primarily on defending our own BL, but will move to enemy BL to pull pressure off the main groups.
I’m Eastern based and run guild havok/training on Mondays starting at 8pm, our other guild night is Thursdays same time. Other than that, we go in at random times.
There are other groups, but CD could definitely use more capable roamers. Also doesn’t hurt we’ll be free to xfer to
Been on CD since launch, experienced the ups and downs and stuck it out. Solid group of boys n gals that are a blast to run with. There’s a little bit of everything for anyone looking to transfer here.
We’ve got the full spectrum of guilds and players from Hardcore WvW all the way down to relaxed.
Definitely worth taking a look
All I can say is, WvW 10v10. They stack to heal, I go to drop a hammer stun on the group and 3 seconds later it goes off, after they spread out…
Every. Kitten. Time.
Every skill has at least a 1 second delay in small scale fights. We’re on an empty borderland, maybe only 15 people from each server. This is not T1 blobfest.
This skill lag is killing PvP and WvW.
(edited by Manbo.5403)
Skill lag has gotten worse over the past 2 weeks for me. I’m even getting more events where none of my skills work, yet am still able to chat, run around and WP. This is in 10v10 fights.
I’d say it’s lagging the second I get into any fight, 1v1 or in a zerg.
This is driving me kittening bananas. I’m trying to lead and call for hammer stuns on me and I can’t even do it my god kitten self… ( -_-)
Had a good Friday night reset, held our borderland for over 6 hours practically with the guild only. Would have been nice to have a few more new faces to run with.
Still open for more players interested in WvW. As we have many new players to WvW, now is a great time to join if you are looking to improve as a team, assist with the development of new WvW players, and have fun not really caring if we wipe. We just run back out to fight again, and again, and again.
So far it’s been a blast, people are learning how to fight in the field, and no one is upset when we lose. Baby steps.
Either way, if you enjoy teaching/leading, or are new(ish) to WvW, give us a look.
To those who have joined, welcome I look forward to running with you more!
If you are interested or have some questions, feel free to contact me. I’m not going to give you the old song and dance routine about how amazing everything is, I’ll answer all your questions with no embellishments.
That’s just how I roll.
Nailed it. /tigerwoodslevelfistpump
Remember, in game mail is the best way to contact me. We can set up a meeting, I can give you the teamspeak info and introduce you!
Hey all,
CLAV is a large guild on Crystal Desert who is predominantly PvE, but with a growing involvement in PvP and WvW. We have a solid group of veteran WvW players and a new batch of fresh meat! If you’ve fought an annoying pink ranger, or big golden norn… /wave
We run all content in game, (except Teq is run as TTS).
All guild events run on Sundays with Saturday mornings in case people missed the previous weekend.
WvW Friday night reset as either havok or grouped with other commanders based on what is needed. Serious-face time.
Monday (*EDIT*Scheduling change due to life) night guild WvW practice (anyone is welcome) so expect more new players here. This is my baby, it’s focused mainly on open field combat, education, and reinforcing basic strategies. Wiping is expected, retreating is not.
Thursday night relaxed WvW run, whatever goes.
Saturdays are either WvW Havok or PvP training (Used as training for useful combat skills in WvW.)
While being mostly NA, we do have a good bunch of players based in Asia, so you can expect company at any time.
A Little About Us
Chillin Like a Villain is both our Guild name and our motto. We’re a relaxed group of people from all over the globe who enjoy playing the game. We are not a hardcore WvW group, so if that’s what you want, there are much better choices on Crystal Desert. However, do not mistake our core WvW players as being easy… you’ll likely have a bad day if you do
We are an odd group of random personalities that somehow work really well together, and most importantly work to support everyone in the guild. If you are the type of person who likes to be involved, helpful, and enjoy singing random duets of bad songs in teamspeak while running AC, then you’re what we are looking for. Our only requirement is that you are respectful to members, all other players, and conduct yourself appropriately as part of CLAV (which is 100% rep except for Tequatl)
If we seem like a good fit, please feel free to shoot me a /w or preferably a message through in game mail or this site.
I look forward to bolstering our ranks with some more WvW players looking to relax, have some fun, and stomp some invaders

Well, last time I checked, my pet went full kitten and fails to cast skills 1/2 the time or has a 1 second cast time so it can be annoying to get the best use of it at times, then has 30-45 second cool down… vs spamming hammer stuns ever 7 seconds or so in an area I designate, plus what ever utilities I want to bring… essentially immediately.
If the pets I like to use were insta-cast, I wouldn’t have anything to complain about, but most are not.
Not 2 traps, 1 trap, muddy terrain and entangle, axe pull and also a trait that means any opponent with less than 50% life you hit gets crippled. That’s pretty good imo.
And a ranger with this build is pretty resilient, has access to stability, can block and evade through GS skills.
In my opinion it does match the utility of other classes…i would not say it is better than other classes, and obviously you are going to want a number of guardians and warriors. But in my opinion having several rangers with this build does provide a plus for your group. That’s all i’ve been trying to expose here. And yeah, i was merely speaking of my characters to say i have played other classes in wvw at lvl 80 knowing them and not just ranger. Anyone can have all the classes at 80, if you don’t play them in wvw, it’s not relevant.
I guess there are still rangers out there grasping at straws…..or maybe they just like to argue the underdog status….and my main was a ranger….
I have played all classes in WvW to 80…
The truth is….when it comes to medium to large group fights and people need to perform certain roles…there will always been certain classes that shine above others in filling those roles.
As everyone said before…ranger depending on build can probably fill a variety of those roles….but unfortunately not as well as others in med/large group comp..it’s just the way it is lol
Altho, roaming and spvp can be quite fun!
If I am limited to 15 people for a gvg and i’m trying to make the best group possible….unfortunately ranger will not be one of the classes…
My sentiments exactly. My Ranger is/was by far my main and class I am most comfortable playing. It is a Jack-of-all-trades class that loses its effectiveness in groups larger than 10 players (again IMO) as the group makeup can include specialists for CC and specialists for damage, with the ranger unable to keep up with either.
Since I began playing the warrior in WvW, I’ve come to realize how much more effective it is. On paper the Ranger has more CC, but in reality I have caught way more people with well timed Earthshakers. Only unprepared players are every truly caught by Ranger CC, and now I predominantly play my ranger in PvP.
Would I like rangers to be better? kitten yes. I love my ranger.
Man there’s a ranger on maguuma named tanbin who is kittening amazing at roaming and duels dunno what people are talking about. id like a good ranger in a wvw roaming group, but yea in a gvg i can see them not being really useful at all compared to warrior/guardian/ele
Roaming in small groups and solo are IMO the rangers strength. I have no issues dealing with people in duels (except some specific builds obviously) but once in a group setting, you can’t help but see how other classes out-perform the ranger.
My simple fix, give rangers the ability to use hammers. Have lower damage, but truckloads of CC. Rangers are useful again.
^ This. I hate how useless the pet is in WvW groups/zergs. All I want is to prevent anyone getting an easy kill off my pet. I would like to get rid of it sometimes and get a buff. That would do nicely
I use axe/horn to allow for some range and blasts on my waterfield. Sword/dagger is mobility and damage. Signets are more than enough to stay alive, when used effectively.
At the most, I’ll drop the sword/dagger for GS in some situations, but generally I prefer the 2 sigils and evades. May change with the double sigils in 2h weapons update.
Now if only they fixed the pet F2 skill, I’d be happier. I used to be able to use it when I needed, now it seems to not cast more than 1/2 the time.
20 rangers vs 20 warriors would probably end in the ranger’s favour simply due to fields and support. Sure ranger may not have the best support, but it’s better than a warrior’s simply because of healing spring. This is still a bad comparison however, you will never have 20 set classes going against another 20. Although if that were to happen, engi and ranger would probably fight for first place simply because they can do everything.
Non-Signet Rangers only have one native stability and it is on a LONG cool down. A pack of rangers is a dinner bell for Hammer warriors.
Warriors have WAY better support than Rangers… it isn’t even close. Shout warriors group heal, remove conditions, convert conditions to boons, have a MASSIVE amount of control, are effectively immune to immobilize, best passive healing in the game, banner group rez, stack might, they don’t have to stop for healing, come to the fight with over 30k HP and nearly 4k armor. Their sustained DPS is impressive as well. There is a reason the backbone of almost every group of players is the Warrior and Guardian.
Yup. As a ranger…. I get a little jealous… Then I hop onto my warrior
I like playing my ranger. I’m also not a useless fool with my ranger, but I agree the pets are garbage. The delay and subsequent failure of pet skills drives me nuts, they should just be insta-cast.
I’m right up there in the front with the warriors and guards, crippling and dropping frost traps on the enemy allowing the hammers to bring the pain on even more poor souls.
Just because I am comfortable on my ranger doesn’t mean I don’t think other classes are better suited to WvW though… Rangers definitely need to be fixed. They need a niche that only they can fill, that is useful to the majority. Personally, a buff to their CC would suffice for me, we already have enough big damage dealing classes.
Just my $0.02
Yay! more dumbed down game play. If I wanted this I’d go back to playing WoW. Seriously, teach people to scout and map read, it isn’t that hard and takes away from the need for situational/map awareness.
Scouting is highly unrewarding and for 99.9999% of players boring/un-fun. Most players want to log in and get into a fight. Any feature that makes for more fights particularly fights in a style a player likes, is a good feature.
Sneaking past a guard point would become strategically important. Opening up the map a player would instantly know X amount of players were seen headed toward Y camp Z minutes ago. Both of these scenarios would make for a more engaging WvW experience especially in lower tiers where fights can be sparse particularly in off peak hours.
Could actually make guards useful other than just free points! Make it so you can’t hit or be hit by the guard otherwise he announces your location.
Or being in Pve and receive your world borderland is outmaned prepare your swords and fight.
Now that would be much more useful than NPC scouts!
What about making NPC scouts a higher tier personnel upgrade, and maybe a 3rd tier for camps?
That way it isn’t instant and limits the spamming.
I know this is an older post, but it could be a good addition to WvW and allow more people to play instead of always scouting, especially on servers with low coverage times.
Hi SBI!
Last night was pretty rough for us haha…
Had a bunch of newbies and disorganized pug players we were trying to train a bit, as you could tell by how quickly 1/2 our group melted when you portal bombed us…
The commander and I were absolutely mystified at how anyone could die that fast… I mean…. a dodge would have doubled the time they lived hahahaahhahaah!!!! They just stood there and took the curb stomping!
Overal, a frustrating training run. I think you hurt the PvE players feels. They ran away back to Kessex Hills after.
Ah well, after the marathon WvW session last week, I personally don’t have much in the tank this week. Sorry BP and SBI… you aren’t getting an A+ Manbo experience this week… but if you see the pink ranger, say hi and lets poke each other with sharp sticks
Hey now. Like someone already said, it’s Coverage wars. That’s it.
I spent 2 hours straight walking dollys into CDBL Hills and fighting random roamers from Ebay and DB to get our WP built, knowing full well that as soon as DB logged on it would likely go away quickly.
I check the maps at work from time to time and love how after a hard fight all evening, everything is basically red, with Ebay and us ticking 80 to DB’s 500+.
Is it frustrating? I guess. I just go out with our group and take it out on DB when I see them. If you see a big golden norn smashing through your lines, that’s just me saying hello!
Also, just want to give a shout out to Ebay and DB for some great fights, but to the mesmer who keeps trying to die at Bay watergate to get a rez, grow a pair and do it the right way. Either hide or leave, exploiting a lame glitch like that, ruining someone else’s fun because they are now camping your body… lame.
Anet, just add a grate on the inside to create a large gap, or just get rid of the openings. That will stop that bs tactic.
So here I am, commanding an unruly zerg of mostly PvE players (Welcome to WvW, glad to have you, now stop throwing siege lol), running along the south edge of EBG to make a surprise push to the enemy keep at Valley…. when SURPRISE there’s a LW event that distracts some, puts us into combat so we’re slow as my 90 year old Grandma (love you Grandma!) and instigates the beginning of the end of my carefully thought out master plan that I came up with in 10 seconds.
Haha, all joking aside, it’s not part of WvW, it is a nuisance, and should be removed immediately. If I want PvE, I’ll go to PvE. Leave my WvW out of the living story, or don’t make its involvement directly impede game play.
Fix the game so the people with less powerful computers (yet still better than the minimum req) can come into WvW.
There’s a large untapped amount of players who avoid WvW because of hardware, and would likely be there on the lower pop servers if the game would run properly.
Nothing gets people to leave faster than 10fps in a small zerg fight.
Just my $0.02
The stat difference is no big deal. If you put in the time to get an ascended weapon, then you get the benefit.
I’ll roll with my exotics to test new builds. /shrugs don’t see what the big deal is.
No stat boost.
All I can think of were the times we faced off against T2 servers and they would hold our BL 75% of the time because everyone bailed after getting stomped.
What about a buff for the server getting rocked instead? I don’t see why the higher activity server gets extra rewards to help them face smash the less active server even more.
I’d rather just have an XP/MF/GF bonus in WvW to promote more people playing on the less active servers.
Suppression needs to be tweaked/removed in WvW. Helping lead a group of players, no commander tag, providing directions and advising where we are heading, linking POI to help guide the zerg, and bam… suppressed.
Spammers can be /ignored, however to organize a group of random players, many new to WvW, a lot of items need to be repeated. Using common phrases, linking WP or POI in chat to give new players directions is meant to promote involvement and prevent confusion, therefore should not be included in the filtering process at all.
I know this is has been a bone of contention for many, but nothing has been done to alleviate the problem. So instead of rewarding team play, it promotes having unrelated posts/conversation in map and team chat to ensure you aren’t filtered…
I don’t type much, I just type what needs to be said and that gets me filtered maybe 5-10 times in a 2 hour period.
I would just like to be able to play and help lead without the frustration of being blocked for helping out.
I really miss the trinity, i feel it takes away an element in pvp (priority targets) and dungeons.
I would never have said anything before because the game wasn’t designed for the trinity. But it wasn’t designed for a gear treadmill either and they added that, so why not a trinity to.
And so by taking away the “priority targets”, does it not cause a more dynamic PvP battle? Not knowing how people are spec’d, having to use communication and tactics to determine targets?
OR
Look for the squishies and burn them down.
No need to have higher stat armors, just have rare skins for more choice.
Could bring back infusion type quest (a la Guild Wars Prophecies) to make any armor ascended, which give you a buff against (whatever they want to call the debuff).
Just spit-balling here, but what if the big benefit to getting ascended armor is that you get to choose which stats are on the armor, instead of the preset combinations. The stats are all the same as the exotic armors, but you could choose any combo you want (thus personalizing the piece).
Just an idea.
One thing that just came to me with all this compliance I can’t go to Us/EU server and play… is that 1 a month Nr1 in Us and 1 in EU WvsWvsW ranking should meat to fight whit server is Nr1 in the world, this fight should be for 42hours from 18.00 Friday central time in Us (01.00 GMT) until Sunday 12.00 CT (19.00 GMT) and on New maps that is only used for this fights. No JP or PVE bosses on the map. Serve 2-3 on EU Us get 2days rest until fight start again on Sunday.
Let me see if I can translate this…
Have a battle between NA and EU #1 ranked servers…
One major problem with organizing such a battle… it’s this crazy thing called time difference. So when NA is up and running, EU is in bed, and vice versa. So the majority of play would be massive zerg rushes on a few stragglers who happen to be awake in the opposite time zone. However I could very well be wrong.
Perhaps a smaller scale EU/NA #1 server battle could be held for 3 hours, points based on kills. Runs from 5PM to 8PM GMT on every Sunday.
“Simple” solutions:
1. Implement a system like other games (LotRO comes to mind) that allows an account to create characters on multiple servers. Obvious issues would then be server capacity.
2. For account owners who want to have access to the other side of the pond, offer a drastically discounted account that is tied into existing login (to prevent lost sales).
With this, when a player logs in, they would then select if they want their EU or NA account. If there is a nominal fee to get this, it will weed out the people who don’t want the option and reduce server loads.
3. Create an international server that both sides can guest to.
Host it in Greenland, have it maintained by Vikings. Problem solved.
I’ve been finding it difficult to keep track of players during large events and busy areas.
Party members will start following other players by accident and then chat/teamspeak is flooded with, “Where did you guys go?”
I find myself constantly watching the minimap instead of the action, always having to make someone else the party leader so they can use the call target function to mark my character so people stick closer to me, which then makes me unable to call an actual target.
I play with some new to MMO players and having the ability to assign an icon over players heads would make my time (and likely others) in Guild Wars 2 easier and more enjoyable.
So I propose a function added to the party management such as:
-Right click portrait
-Select “Party Icon”
-Choose from 2 or 3 icons, such as a diamond, circle, star, or flag.
Something not too large that it disrupts the players vision, and bright enough to be noticeable during a heated fight with lots of effects happening. So not the blue that party members already are.
Thanks
P.S.
On a side note, being able to change text color and size (independent of the overlay size) would be fantastic. I like to have bright larger guild text in other games so it sticks out more than the small darker trade/world/whatever chat, but don’t like to completely disable those either.
I look at it like this:
It is a story, your characters story. You have to make decisions and stick with them. If you take that away, what’s the point?
Personally I say leave the story as is. If you want to experience all versions, then start saving for extra character slots.
You obviously don’t watch zombie movies. ^^
In all fairness, solo story undead are crazy for some classes. Maybe a little balancing is needed.
I hear it still in my sleep, at work, and eating… Make it stop!
I’m guessing this has been posted, but I am not sifting through all of the topics. (Search isn’t working.)
The camera needs to be fixed. The spazzing that happens when there is an object between your character and the location of the camera is epilepsy inducing!
I understand when hitting a zone wall or a cavern wall causing the camera angle to be “pushed” into the character, but a table? Tree? It’s almost impossible to do some of the jump puzzles as it always happens to go nuts right at the angle you need…
I love this game, but the camera is one of if not THE most infuriating aspects of this game.
Gotta equip the item, then it’ll show 1/4 (equipped)
