I haven’t seen any of the guild related Scribe recipes in the API, even though I crafted multiple types of the banners myself, as well as the odd decoration. All these are items that get put (indirectly) into the guild storage. Hopefully this info helps you find the bug.

From what I can see the Yellow Pigment is needed twice for the scribing kits and the Green Pigment aren’t needed at all. Looks to me like one of those yellows should be green.

I also received a 100k Aetherium boost refund, when I used it I didn’t get an errormessage and the boost is active (48 instead of 50)
But it does seem my guild got taxed another 100k influence… aka my guild paid twice for one boost.

I finished the Pact Commander mastery and as soon as the loot should have come in I crashed. After testing: Every time I get loot the game crashes.
Luckily you can shut this feature off, so I did that for now (it’s the Autoloot: Quick Interact option for the people interested), but I would love to have this feature fixed, I didn’t grind my kitten off for nothing

The random roll for this week already happened and we’re seeing on our internal servers that week ones missions rolled a mix of PvP and WvW missions for the first three mission slots that guilds have unlocked once you’re able to access the expansion (as you unlock deeper into your guild hall, you’ll be able to unlock more mission slots). We wanted to make sure everyone knew this information ahead of time.

Is it possible that you reroll this until you have a PvE, PvP & WvW mission (from what I understood there were three slots initially) considering we have no choice but to have a mix the first week. With only PvP & WvW missions I sorta feel like PvE guilds are getting the short end of the stick.

Is it safe to do the current (PvE) guild missions before the launch, considering you have PvP & WvW rolled only atm? Will doing guild missions before the launch lock the ones that are available after the release?

How much favor to start a Guild Expedition?

I’m wondering if you should postpone the guild missions for the week of the 19th (using the new resettime) until after HoT is released. The old and the new system might save the guild mission reward earned indications in the same way. This way you can get the favor in that first weekend and do the expedition in that same weekend even (barring any bugs).

  • Is the workshop the only place that has scribing workstations?
  • Do you need a guild hall and/or workshop before you can train scribing?
  • The stream made it sound like there is a set order in which you can build up your guild hall (tavern, mine, workshop, etc.), is this correct?
  • How feasible is it for guilds to liberate their guild hall in the first weekend after launch?
  • Colin said in the stream from yesterday that building your guild hall will take 6-9 months, is this because of the favor cap and/or timegating of aetherium?
  • How long will it take a mediumsized (50 guild members) to unlock at least the basic functionality of their guild hall?

The way it looked in the livestream is that you can only do scribing in the workshop of the guild hall. I’m wondering if this is true?
And if this is true, I would also love to know if you need a guild hall with a workshop before you can start leveling this crafting profession?

Like most of the fans of the game I would love to play HoT from launch. Being a working person I would have to spend some vacation days to be free of work when HoT will launch. And I will gladly spend those, if it means having more time to play at the launch of the expansion. I also have a deadline for giving notification when I want to use my vacation days.
However my vacation days are limited and I wouldn’t wanna spend some and then be disappointed because the expansion isn’t live yet. As an EU-player it would make a huge difference if the game launches at (for example) 8am EST (UTC -7), this is practically the end of my working day.

I sorta expected the launch time to be announced when you showed the launch trailer, so my question is: At what time on Oct. 23 will HoT launch?

API Creation Page Input Insertion

I disagree about needing another field, I think this will only add more confusion towards the users. Especially since it will have to be an optional field, if no value is provided, users will wonder what they have to put in there, even though it is an optional field.
If you make the name clear enough, people will not be confused what it is used for. For example this is how I Am Dansker has implemented this on the FSP website: http://i.imgur.com/waGLCon.png (I edited out any real keys). Personally I find this name clear enough, it’s the Far Shiverpeaks API key.

For more clarity towards your users you could include a screenshot of the key creation page which has the correct settings (with a fake but representative name), e.g. http://i.imgur.com/VwJLHqR.png. You will probably have to change this screenshot each time new permissions are added, to not confuse users, but I do think this adds more clarity. As an example: The FSP website currently has a 23 seconds video guide. But if 1/3 of the users still make errors by putting in the wrong name, I think this video guide isn’t watched that much. I could imagine that watching the video might be an extra hurdle for some people. But an image where you can see in one glance how your key creation page should look is much harder to ‘ignore’.

@I Am Dansker: For the FSP website specifically I would at least change the order in which you present the values, on the key creation page the name field is first, the checkboxes for the permissions are second. So it would make sense to provide the users the values in the correct order.
Also an explanation about why you need to name the key with the specific name is probably a good idea (could be added after the “This is not your api key!” part). As a developer I immediately understood the meaning of having to use the specific name, but for the more non-tech people I think this can be confusing.

True. But as it currently stands, progression does not only have account-bound stuff. The specialization unlock, world completion, story and selected order are all character-bound.

But you have to keep in mind that having all of this categorized under one permission does not necessarily mean it will also be listed under one API endpoint. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to have it all under one progression permission.

Whoops, you’re totally right, I was thinking about endpoints instead of permissions… WAKE UP stupid brain!
But yeah, it should be perfectly fine to put account and character progression under 1 permission, as long as it will be multiple endpoints.

Correct me if I’m wrong but stuff like recipe unlocks & crafting disciplines are char bound, not account bound, right? I’m not sure it would make sense to list these under (account) unlocks and progression. I also think these should at least have the name of the associated character included somewhere.

Hmm, the only bits I know of are your current WvW rank and chosen WvW masteries. I don’t know what our future plans are, but in the recent desert borderlands playtest I didn’t see anything new we’d expose via authenticated API, at least. If the current implementation stands (click a map icon to view upgrades) there’s a good case to be made for providing access current objective upgrades.

I’ve been looking for a place to put the WvW rank though, and since we’ve already got permissions for PvE (progression) and PvP (pvp), it would be symmetrical to have one for WvW too. I dunno.

Just to clarify: I meant theoretical far future, not the coming stuff from HoT. I was speculating/theorizing there might be more account/character bound wvw stuff in the (far) future. This also ties in with what you are saying about splitting the playmodes into different permissions. Better to split it now, in case we might need it later.

The list looks very solid and inclusive, here are the few comments I have:

unlocks/wardrobe/fashion (name TBD)

  • I would suggest skins as the name, all the things listed are basicly skins for a certain item (armor skins, mini skins, mail carrier skin). Dyes are so tightly related to armor skins that I believe most users would assume this to be included with this permission, and should not warrant changing the name to refect dyes are also included in this permission.
  • I think the current equipped skins should be listed under characters, the current visual representation of a character would be something that is basic to a character. It’s pretty much the first thing people see in-game when they look at a character.
  • Recipe unlocks are kinda weird in this endpoint, the rest is all about visual ‘effects’, I think inventories would be a more logical endpoint. The main purpose for recipe unlocks I see at the moment would be checking what the user can do/craft with his/her accumulated materials. You would need the inventories permission for that anyway, so I would put recipe unlocks under there as well.

progression (name TBD)

  • progression sounds like a good descriptive name, I think it’s a solid choice.
  • WvW ranks would be under here as well, I guess? Or does this merit a new permission wvw? Would it make more sense if we split it up in advance in case there would every be more wvw related stuff bound to your account/characters?

The new ‘Light Adaptation’ setting isn’t saved for me.
Everytime I close the client (and start it again) the setting is reset to false. I also have the new ‘Ambient Occlusion’ setting set to true, and that one does get saved between client restarts.

Considering what Lawton has said in the past, I highly doubt any guild member will be able to get more information about another guild member than is currently visible in the in-game guild panels.

I do feel something for the suggestion made above about a guild member giving the whole guild permission to see (a limited) amount of data from their account. In my opinion this should be a limited set of data, and not all data available through /account and /characters. If you want all the data from a guild member, just ask them for an api-key and save those on a guild website/database.

I do however think that it will take a while before this suggestion (if approved) will be implemented considering Lawtons reaction about the guild permissions. I also think this will probably be a new permission within the api-key account page. To limit the user’s confusion/overwhelming about permissions I do agree with ArenaNets philosophy to keep the permission count limited. Just some things to ponder over.

@Atomix: Lawton never confirmed (or responded to my question) that the characters are sorted in a specific order, this is just my own observation. For me it updated as soon as I was back in the character select screen. Keep in mind that the data is cached up to 5 minutes on the API-server.

Whoops, you are right, they are in descending last logged out order (same as the character select screen in-game).
The /v2/characters?page=0&page_size=50 result is just randomized everytime (between de results you get for that page). You can actually still get the same order from /v2/characters if you use a page_size of 1 and just handle each page as one character.

If you call /v2/characters you get an ordered list (by descending last logged in), however if you call /v2/characters?page=0&page_size=50 the order of the characters is randomize with every call. Is there something you can do about this or is this intended?

1. Are Hero Points account bound? If I acquire Hero Points on one character, can I use those on another character?

2. Are Specialization unlocks Character or Account Bound? If I have two Guardians, do I only have to unlock the Specializations on one of them or do I have to unlock them on both?

Network Lag [Merged]

Random lag and disconnect here as well. EU, The Netherlands.

Thursday evening and the months before that I didn’t have any problems, but friday evening the problems started. I have random lag, often resulting in disconnects. Unable to use skills, inventory management, loot, etc. I play every night, usually for multiple hours. I suspect something was changed during the maintenance that took place friday which is causing this.

A few times I couldn’t even get past the login screen, because GW2 didn’t seem to be able to find the loginservers. Also had some hangs of the zone loading screen, like the connection was broken/lagged while retrieving information about the zone from the servers.

Just now I even had the guilds in my Guild window go haywire and loose their logo’s and tags. The guild member next to me switch guild and didn’t have any tag anymore after he switch back to our shared guild.

LFG tool - fractal distribution

Currently the LFG for fractals has the following groups:

  • 1-9
  • 10-19
  • 20-39
  • 40+

This seems weird to me for two reasons:

  1. I would have expected the distribution to go up in increments of 10 points, considering the rewards are rewarded for every 10 fractal levels. Also considering the Mistlock instabilities start at 31, it seems weird to have a 20-39 group.
  2. Considering the rewards start at 11, 21, 31, etc. it is kinda weird that the LFG groups start at 10, 20, 30, etc.

What I’d expect to see when I’d go to the LFG for fractals would be the following:

  • 1-10
  • 11-20
  • 21-30
  • 31-40
  • 41-50

And more groups added when more fractal levels are added.

I know agony starts at 10, 20, 30, etc. and not at 11, 21, 31, etc.
But I think most people will look at the LFG based on which tier of rewards they haven’t done yet this day, and not the level of fractal they can do based on their Agony Resistance.
