Thanks! So it’s safe to say any ranked games we win or lose will have no effect when the season does restart?
Hello, I am a returning player after 1 year of absence. I am trying to understand how the rating system works in this game. I have 280+ wins and something like 250 losses but I don’t appear on the score chart. I suppose it’s entirely possible I haven’t received points because I have played against low rated players. However, a guild mate I have been playing ranked with exclusively has made the top 100 in our recent exploits. I’m not very math inclined, but I would imagine I’m doing better than 50% of the player base out there. When I compare my stats with those on the leaderboards I should be sitting at least in the 90 percentile.
Last night the que was fast, rarely getting the dreaded empty last spot, fairly balanced and fun play. I prefer to mix pvp and pve with the old system but the pvp’ers have spoken and Anet responded.. well.
Ill probably just have to get over, overall a good patch, just forcing me to stick in that stupid lobby will likely mean less desire to play. But Im just 1 random person, who cares.
If you can queue from anywhere, what happens when the match is ready while someone is loading, in a cutscene, or talking to a scout? I doubt people want the match-ready UI to stay up for 90+ seconds while the slowest player loads and maybe decides to accept. We also can’t just give dishonor to people who miss the queue because they are loading, or watching a personal story cut scene as that seems unfair. These problems led us to the compromise we have now, but we are open to other options!
Correct me if I’m wrong but won’t the ‘Go Now’ / ‘Wait’ window pop up even while in a cutscene? I know it did if I had the map was open and it overlapped inventory, crafting windows, etc..
If not, why can’kitten It certainly spammed enough during the 1.5 minutes or so until match start. In fact that drove me nuts, but this alternative is way worse. The Mists isnt a nice lobby to be in. I wouldn’t want to let my son read 2 minutes of text from that place and it just generally has nothing to do. If you turn off the game during a cutscene you just miss the cutscene and have to redo it, I did test that. Can’t the que work similar?
AFK people are AFK, with or without being forced into the Mists.
Hello,
The new pvp system looks like it is definitely and attempt by Anet to alleviate some of the player base frustration with uneven and unbalanced matches. The new UI and que up system is shiny and overall a pretty tidy mechanism.
However, I am disappointed that I have to que in the Mists. I understand that this system isn’t fully in place yet, the que times are skewed, and it probably needs some minor tweaking. I also understand that if someone clicks play they should be ready to pvp and this is why they are forced into the Mists.
PVP isn’t my only goal in this game and I like to spend a lot of time crafting and running jump puzzles. With the old system I could enter a round from anywhere on the map meaning I could do a jump puzzle, pvp a match, do some crafting, pvp, etc. . .
Im a vanity kitten as well, and PVP doesn’t provide fast enough resources for me to craft and create some of the really cool armor/weapon sets in any reasonable amount of time. Being able to do these tasks in unison was part of my entire strategy, and I am sure others use a similar method as well.
Please reconsider allowing ques outside of the Mists, there is always going to be a wait time, even 1 minute allows for me to nearly complete a full jump puzzle. Not a huge deal, but thought it should be mentioned. Alternatively, you could provide better loot or money for full time pvp’ers.
Fay, I made no declaration that this game had an in-vision check. But I can tell you that when my Ileap fails there are two conditions present. First, I am out of range.. my target has moved beyond range and I get a 4s recharge and a message stating “Out of Range”. Second, it occurs when there is no LOS to the target or perhaps a terrain issue that doesn’t allow the illusion to appear next to the target. In my experience, LOS issues and pathing issues occur less when I can ‘see’ the target. Stated flatly, if I don’t see terrain issues, the iLeap is mostly successful. It still has issues, but if I can visually verify the target then more than likely so can the AI. For an inexperienced player it is more simply stated “Make sure you can see the target”. Sorry further clarification is needed, It wasn’t a well thought out statement.
Edit: I would also like to point out that the range is 600, if you go beyond 600 before you perform the swap it will only take you 600 often leaving you far behind the target. I try to compensate for enemy movement by crippling with my GS before swapping to sword and performing iLeap.

Be sure your opponent that you are leaping to is inside your field of vision. I used to think it was front conical but you just have to have them visible on your screen or the leap will/may fail.
You can do 2k+ with stacks of vulnerability, stacks of might, and certain traits. You can even throw a rune of intelligence to guaruntee the crit.. but there are still so many better ways to deliver damage. If Im stacked with food buffs, banners, etc.. 2300 is probably normal crit range.
Mantra of Pain does not hit for 2300, you should be glad the mesmer is using that skill instead of something actually usefull.
Uh.. It definitely can hit for 2300.
Yes, my fault.. this is for WvW. Im in full power/ferocity right now critting for 1400 (TPVP).

Illusionary Wave is the #1 reason to use sword in pvp. It allows me to at least neutralize a capture point when its covered by a guardian. You just need to observe the guardians buffs and make sure he doesnt have stability when you use it.
Also, Phantasmal Berserker is damage-through-a-wall. I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t feel this is the best Illusion the mesmer has except maybe the high DPS from the pistol illusion. Its recharge sucks without trait points spent though.
I think the biggest issue with great sword is the animation freeze from Mind Stab. I get slaughtered by a couple of sins in the duration of that animation.
