I would like the point out the fact the author of the video basically says in the first minute. Either you hate how gw2 is or your a thoughtless fan boy.
Personally, I believe guild wars 2 has a lot of innovative original ideas that need far more polish. However, copying another game is not a way to be innovative. I believe the term “wow clone” comes in here. If everyone is copying wow, then you’ll never get ahead following the pack.
The term “wow clone” is really tossed around a lot these days and I don’t know if people really understand that if a game is an MMO its gonna have things that are like other MMOs. WoW defiantely wasn’t the first MMO ever to be created and it took some things from other games; but that’s how games expand and hit the next level of gaming by taking original ideas from other games, expanding them, and adding a totally new twist to them to keep them interesting. GW2 adding anything that WoW had or has wouldnt make it a “wow clone” in anyway but would help GW2 develop as a game and invite new players and old players to play.
And Kaaboose, thank you for posting this on these forums and the GW2guru forums. I have replied to both now and really understand your idea that ANet really needs to hear what the players have to say and work with the players to create new and fun content for the game we have come to love.
Something I’ve been thinking about for a while is an upgraded city map chat. Something like a map chat that spreads across every major city so that players that are tired of hanging around LA could get out and see what every other major city has to offer because they are all really cool in their own ways. I just feel people like to read what goes on in map chat sometimes and having it go from city to city would help move traffic from LA to other cities to really see everything they have to offer.
i know id be hanging around Divinity’s Reach a lot more.
I will not thank anet for the pointless time wasting achievements and lame mini game they implemented into this event while totally ignoring what many players of this game really want, permanent content. i personally love the idea of a living story and monthly updates to the story line but without any permanent content it feels lackluster. i will thank them for new armor styles and a new interesting story line to sink our teeth into. granted it is only temporary. many players i have talked to (myself included) feel that anet really focuses on the casual players and gives them things to do in the game that require a lot of time with very little effort or skill, this could be good for them but it gives players that are much more hardcore nothing to do but waste time in game on things they dont need to be doing. i say this from the standpoint of a relatively hardcore player that because he loves the game so much, forces himself to log on and do something even when theres nothing to do.
The Trading post after the patch has been not allowing me to hover over items in the TP to see stats and such, preview items, and sell things from the Sell tab. I have talked to other players and they say they have the same thing. I have also used the method of re-logging into the game by exiting to the desktop and logging back in and this didn’t work.
