Try using the -windowed option to force windowed mode. If you’ve played GW2 on it before, you can also try deleting your settings by deleting the folder %appdata%/Guild Wars 2/ and if it exists, Documents/Guild Wars 2/Local.dat.
If your laptop has multiple GPUs, try disabling all but the dedicated one. Some laptops for example have a dual setup; an integrated one for normal tasks and a dedicated one for 3D. Sometimes the wrong one will get used and cause it to fail.
Please add alternate routes to avoid being blocked by buggy, laggy lightning pulls. At the moment there are just too many spots on the course where you can be stuck for 2-3 mins on one jump just because you dont live on continental USA.
