I think that the district system of GW1 had elements we could learn from here – you could freely move between “districts” (essentially a numbered series of overflows to those who didn’t play – they also had regions but you could change that). I might add that I do rather miss the EU existing in this game…their servers were friendly the few times I guested before they were removed from existing to us. The district system could reincorporate them…which would make for an actual 24-hour community.
Even if the Teq specific only drops from time-gated boxes, the ground chest holds ascended mats. This means it can technically produce another random ascended weapon regardless.
I have to state that 45mins is inaccurate – I know of people who have sat for an hour, at least, afk and not been kicked without moving a hair. They really do need to lower the idle timer. That won’t force people to be active but it would force them to be more deliberate and clearly worthy of wrath.
This will be a side guild for me but please send an invite…now that the initial mania has boiled off I kind of like Tequatl.
My entire party was unable to leave Malchor’s Leap after an event (couldn’t waypoint, go to heart of mists or wvw – we tried all three) and kept getting “cannot reach login server” errors. We tried relogging but could not re-enter the game (and couldn’t report tghe bug through the game for the same reason). Our guildmates have reported that they can’t waypoint, change characters if they were on another one, log back into the game (although we can all get to the character selection screen) and related issues. We were all on 70+ maps when this happened but these were different maps so it may or may not be related. There were no patch or guild warnings if there was such a thing and it did not attempt to download.
They also removed the keys from chests and replaced them with things like ticket scraps (the skins are all hideous so why would I pay money to get them?!). There is so much trash in the BL chests now I wouldn’t pay to open them anyway so why not just let us have the keys since the contents are completely worthless?
I find that in large group events my targeting will lose the thing next to me or that is hitting me or which is clearly the object of the entire event and randomly target some guy’s pet – frankly, I wish the guy and hit pet were culled but that’s another thing entirely – which is absolutely no threat and probably shouldn’t be tab targetable. I also notice that, when downed, my targeting picks something totally random (and often not even attacking me) to hit if I’m not careful. This has led to more deaths than rallies.
Now we get, for dailies and monthlies…magic find that is both underwhelming and takes about 2 mins tops to farm in PvE and lost by comparison hours to days of karma. Anet clearly doesn’t understand the effort involved.
Please, for the love of all that is good, bring back culling or at least make a way to set for culling that actually works and doesn’t crash the game every time we try to adjust it.
I speak merely for myself and my guildies, some of whom have really nice computers (as in, they were just built or upgraded specifically to try to handle the game with culling removed…and fail). Apparently whether a computer is brand new or a couple years old we still have lag issues and crash issues with the high number of character models we’re being forced to load. I cannot go above minimum settings ever since culling was removed and most of the new players who are friends or guildies now complain daily about how culling needs to be put into effect (and we mostly laugh and say that Anet broke the game by removing culling to try to impress them or something…when clearly it’s the greatest irritant that there isn’t culling now). We assume this is part of the issue with Frostgorge crashing every 1-5 minutes and it’s really irritating that even people with nice computers and highest settings can only see the bland WvW “crash test dummy” models about 99% of the time ever since the culling was removed. The removal of culling has made the game graphically lower quality than pretty much anything I’ve played since 8-bit because you cannot view ANY detail anymore – when I try (with a computer that meets your minimum requirements) the game typically crashes. When people with totally tricked out brand new computers try, they tell me that they still get pretty much only crash test dummies in pretty terrain. Don’t get me wrong, pretty terrain is great…but we never had to look at crash test dummies before PvE culling was removed…whether at highest or lowest settings.
The same glitch happens with the Lowland Burns WP for Shatterer when he’s up. You will spawn invisible and your camera will bug out until you die or get downed. I usually have to solve this by using the minimap to run under Shatterer and down myself and beg a friend to revive me at which point the camera fixes itself.
Some people in guild have noticed that it changed the name to completely random people who weren’t in guild, selected or even in their immediate vicinity…although they all seemed to be on the same map…somewhere.
Pretty much everyone doing Claw in the last week on my server in my guild or at the same time as me reports lag so bad that they view single digit fps and keep getting booted to the character selection screen at least once and up to 4 times during the battle. My guild rush in Frostgorge last week was plagued by people getting kicked to character selection when they were near the end as well. This is a game-breaking issue as I actually missed getting credit for events I was at in the map as did others…plus I’m sure having a whole endgame area that you can’t stay in for above 5 minute is debilitating.
By isolated and special, I think they mean “you started at headstart”. The funny thing is people were talking in LA about how they were getting gifts and they hadn’t played a full year…so maybe they screwed something up with the starting point of the birthdays?
Still only one birthday present (out of 4 characters rolled at the beginning or headstart, only the alt I’ve never played has a gift…the three I played have nothing – even my main which has said 12 mos for age since the 24th reset).
It doesn’t seem to have any relation to age whatsoever really. I’ve been showing 12 months of age since yesterday (my time anyway) and rolled on headstart immediately after launch (I was trying to grab a name which is why it’s 5 instead of 1 because I pre-planned my appearance on betas). I still haven’t gotten the present. Apparently half my server has and many of them state they rolled well after me.
