T3 armor grey highlight bug?

You have no idea how glad I am to find someone else with this issue… I thought it was just me!

I have the exact same problem, except it only happens to one of my characters… I tried making two test characters and gave them the same armor with the same dyes, but it didn’t happen to them, only my main. At least yours isn’t as noticable as mine…

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

Race: Sylvari
Sex: Male
Class: Thief

When I move (all I have to do is take a few steps), my armor colors get messed up and some parts turn greyish like the images on the left. After a few seconds, the proper colors gradually “pop” back to normal. It only seems to happen with dark dyes, the main color on each piece is midnight ice/fire and if I try something like blue ice it doesn’t happen. A friend said that she could also see it happening on her screen, so probably not just my computer.

The issue started around November or December. I have also tested it with PvP T1 armor and it doesn’t seem to happen even if I use the same dyes, seems like it might be only with the PvE versions?

It’s most noticable on the T1 top and the T2/T3 pants. Other pieces like the T3 top and the T1 boots seem to be affected as well, but it’s not as obvious. I don’t know if it happens to other cultural gear since that’s all I have.

Thanks!

This isn’t mob related, but could you consider making skills that affect allies (shouts, heals, etc) target your party first? It kind of sucks being at a world boss trying to toss a heal on my dying party member and having all of the other people around get the effect instead. ;x

Character re-customization?

I’d love to see a character re-customization thing in the gem store, something that takes you back to character creation to redo your appearance.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that would like to see something like this. In other games, all of my friends would buy character remodels on a regular basis. People like to change things up!

Now see, my little Asura has to wear boy clothes! Charr girls too. I would like something a little more feminine. I don’t need a chainmail bikini or a leather bustier but something that differentiates me from the male Asurans would be nice. I have settled on TA armor for now because it has more of a feminine flare I think.

I love that my charr has the same armor as the guys!

I don’t disagree with this thread at all, though. I’d love to be able to choose to wear the male armor on my humans.

Why Charr Have the Best Story *1-30 Spoilers*

in Personal Story

Posted by: Melon.8410

Melon.8410

I’d definitely agree that charr have the best story, at least until you join an order. I initially intended to go human after launch. But then I made a charr during beta, and I was so impressed with the story that I ended up maining charr after launch.

However, I can’t say that I’m that impressed after having progressed through the whole thing. What we have in this game is about 30 levels of personal story, and 50 levels of impersonal story. It’s a joke in my guild now… “You’re going to do your personal story? You mean your impersonal story?” I was pretty disappointed to learn by level 30, I had almost the same story as everyone else in my guild, and by level 50, we were all the same.

A charr is supposed to always be fighting alongside their warband, but I never get to fight with them again, only see them in my personal instance… but at least I get to see them, unlike Rytlock (more on him later). I would have loved to have more involvement with charr society rather than jumping into the order and the Pact so soon. I wouldn’t have minded joining an order and forming the Pact if it was later in the story, as I know the Elder Dragons are the focus… I just really wish I could have stuck around the Citadel for longer. I liked being called centurion. It’d have been awesome to make tribune.

Rytlock was an awesome mentor, and I felt like he really had my back as opposed to Logan, who asked me if I wanted go leave my friend Quinn to die in order to help the city (something that the Seraph should easily be able to do themselves). I’m sad that I can never find Rytlock around anymore since he’s permanently on temporary leave from his office, and I’m also sad that your mentors don’t recognize you in dungeons, because that’s your only opportunity to see them after joining an order. It’d be nice to at least see a “hey, centurion” or something from Rytlock when you talk to him in a dungeon. Same goes for the other races and their mentors. It’s like none of them have ever seen you at all, which isn’t true.

Another thing… when I played my human’s personal story up to like level 20 where they cut you off, I expected more after beta. I figured that since my lost parents were spies, they wouldn’t actually be dead, and I would find them alive later somewhere. But nope. Time to join the order and forget all about them. Meh.

I was disappointed about the impersonal story at first, but I don’t really think too much of it now because I shouldn’t have expected too much out of an MMO’s story. I’m sure a lot of work went into the personal story and I appreciate that, but it could have been better. I guess for next time, those are my thoughts.

If I could ask one thing, though… please put Rytlock back in his office after the player defeats Zhaitan. ;( He sends us mail saying he’ll keep in touch, telling us that we’re good friends… and then he disappears, on temporary leave forever.

They could just lock the armor vendors from selling you that specific set of armor, until you complete an achievement for the dungeon. Perhaps an achievement that requires you to complete each path at least once or something. Not sure if they have the ability to tie vendors to achievements though, but that’s my 2 cents.

Added that to possible solutions in the first post, along with Yukishiro’s suggestion from their thread.

I might add the requirement that a player must complete a minimum of one or two separate explore paths to get access to the armor set for that particular dungeon, combine this with your suggestion of merging the tokens and we encourage people to experience multiple dungeons, allowing for variety, and keeping the sets still actually tied to the dungeon they’re from.

That’s a good idea! I’m not sure how they would enforce that, though… perhaps put the NPCs that sell the armor somewhere inside the dungeon so that you have to clear up to them to be able to buy stuff?

To be honest, having lvl 80 exotic gear makes a big difference when doing catacombs exploration or any of the other dungeons up to the 70’s. Even though you are scaled down, you still have a good advantage because of the better gear.

While I understand you would like to see 1 token used as general currency among all dungeons, it will most likely not happen as everyone would flock to the lower lvl dungeons in order to get the higher lvl dungeon armor skins.

Anet said from the beginning they wanted dungeons to be hard and challenging. From what you have described, it sounds more like an issue with getting more players into the guild or making new friends on your server who want to run the dungeons you want.

Many groups have their own teamspeak, vent or mumble set up and willing to let you use it when grouping with them as well. I have personally experienced this many times when working with pugs and its a great way to meet new players.

My suggestion, learn these dungeons as best you can, watch some videos if you need to, take notes, etc, and then offer to lead players through them. Everyone had to start new at some point in time, and sometimes a little patience and guidance can go a long way in strengthening your community.

Best of luck!

I’m not really complaining about the difficulty though, and I don’t mind pugging 1-2 people because as you said it’s nice to meet new people – it’s just that having a full pug group is often a pain, and it’s hard to learn the dungeon well if I can’t get my friends to want to come along and figure it out.

Flocking to the lower level dungeons wouldn’t really be too much of an issue – two reasons.
1) ANet has just implemented something that doesn’t let you grind the same dungeon path.
2) The lower level dungeons aren’t too much easier than the higher level ones anyway. There’s a slight gear advantage, but not everyone has it, especially if you’re taking lower level people in pugs. I mean, of course Arah is still going to be the hardest, but it doesn’t mean that the others aren’t difficult at all. I don’t really go to the low level dungeons anymore and so I don’t know if there’s a huge difference with better gear, but I don’t see it as a big issue.

Also, just because you can complete dungeon X in 2 hours doesn’t means everyone can.

What if 1/2 of my party DCs and takes forever to connect again? What if my best friend’s daughter just threw up in her shoes and she not only has to clean it up but determine why it happened and if it is serious?

One of the main issues that I brought up in my post is not the 2 per hour limit. Honestly, I don’t care that they added the limit. The main issue is that there is no incentive for friends to want to do dungeons with each other if each person wants a different set of skins.

Problem #1: People are (or were) grinding the same path in the same dungeon over and over instead of enjoying other paths and other dungeons.

Problem #2: Not everyone wants rewards from the same dungeon.
With dungeons being as difficult as they are, it’s better to go with a more organized group of friends than it is to pug. However, due to the fact that not everyone in a group of friends will want the same set of dungeon armor, it is very difficult to find a competent group that is willing to repeat the same dungeon long enough to get that armor. Right now, in my guild, nobody ever goes to dungeons anymore because it’s like this: one person wants to do Arah, one wants to do Citadel of Flame, another wants to go to Honor of the Waves, and another wants to do Ascalonian Catacombs. And then you’ve got the guy that just wants to do any dungeon, he doesn’t care which, but there is never a group being formed because of conflicting goals and so he never gets to go. Nobody wants to follow their friend to a dungeon that they don’t want anything from and grind for no reason just so that their friend can save up the 1000+ tokens to get their set.
————————
With the recent addition of the 2 per hour limit, it is clear that ArenaNet does not want us to grind the same path in the same dungeon. It seems that you would rather have us experience all of the paths in all of the dungeons. Which I think is fine, but when you give us nice armor skins as rewards, of course people are going to want to try to get them. And the big issue is, nobody wants to go to other dungeons until they get their set from that one. But nobody will get their set because their friends won’t go to the dungeon with them. So we sit around, hoping that our friends will change their mind and go to our dungeon instead. But nobody changes their mind.

Proposed solution: Make dungeons all reward the same kind of token that can be cashed in for any reward. This solves both problems, as we can go enjoy all of the dungeons and every path there is to offer without feeling like we are slowing down our progress. I’d be more than happy to go try every path if I feel like I’m still progressing towards the set of skins that I want, and I’ll have much more fun doing so when I’m in a more organized group with my friends. Then I won’t have to feel bad every time the guy that wants to do just any dungeon never gets a group!
- Issue that this raises: What about the current dungeon tokens that people have saved up?
Solution: Put an NPC in Lion’s Arch next to where you buy the dungeon armor that exchanges specific dungeon tokens for the new ones.
– Other issue that this raises: people that have never been into a certain dungeon can buy its armor set.
Possible solution #1: Put the NPC that sells the armor inside that dungeon somewhere in explorable mode, so that people are forced to run the dungeon at least once to get its armor (but if you did this, that area in Lion’s Arch would turn pretty empty… I’m sure there’s other things that they can be replaced with though)
Possible solution #2: Lock the armor vendors from selling you that specific set of armor, until you complete an achievement for the dungeon; perhaps an achievement that requires you to complete each path at least once or something.
Possible solution #3 (thanks Yukishiro!): Make the armor cost dungeon tokens PLUS one token that you can obtain from beating explorable mode. For example, TA top costs a TA badge and 300 dungeon tokens.

Split "Admin Lower Ranks" permission into 3 separate ones

I’d really like it if Admin Lower Ranks could be split into three separate permissions (invite/kick/promote). As a guild leader I feel that splitting these permissions up would be a really important change, because
1) I would like to be able to let members invite people without also letting them kick other members
2) I have guild bank access on a higher rank, but currently if I give that rank invite rights then they can easily promote other people for guild bank access.

Charr plush going back in stock?

I hope they bring back the Charr Plush, I missed my chance like twice now. First time i figured well it doesn’t say limited time so ill wait and get one when i can afford it buys a game instead and waits for another chance I finally decide to get one, BAM out of stock. So long while it was out of stock and I wondered, “Is it coming back” Well I was happy to see that it was back in stock again. Well I chose to pre-order guild wars 2, i was thinking of getting collectors but was astonished that it costs more then Diablo 3 collectors. So I just went deluxe and figured ill just use that money to buy a plush.. Bam out of stock. Was like “Noooooooooooooooooo!” So yeah I sure hope it comes back. I still kind of wish i got the guild wars 2 collectors cause I realized later that despite the price tag it would have been well worth it. And D3 was ehhh…. If I could go back in time I would have bought regular edition D3 and Get the Collector GW2. I still regret my decision. I need a plushy now. T_T

GW2 CE is one of the best CE’s I’ve seen.

Access to more detailed info for each member
Infromation such as “Last Login”, “Join Date”, “Last Rank Change Date”, “Influence Contribution”, etc. should be somehow publicly available to guild members.

-Split up the “Admin Lower Ranks” permission into “Invite Members”, “Kick Members”, “Change Ranks of Lower Members”

-Make the message of the day field retain the previous message when the text editor is brought up

I would put adding “Last Login” and “Influence Contribution” fields and splitting up the “Admin Lower Ranks” as highest priority in terms of aiding successful guild management.

PLEASE, THESE. Especially splitting up Admin Lower Ranks. These are suggestions you probably don’t hear very often because not everyone is a guild leader, but I think it’s very important that Admin Lower Ranks is split up into separate permissions so that invite rights can be given without also giving promotion/kick rights. And it would be really nice to be able to see how much influence each person is contributing, rather than it just saying “Members completed X activities for Y influence.”

I kind of disagree on some of the things in this post like muting other people, but I agree on basically everything that I left in the quote.

Some non-guild related things:
- Eventually, I’d like to see something (maybe in the gem shop) that allows you to redo your character’s appearance. Basically something that brings you back to the character creation screen. Girls are suckers for this kind of thing because we like to change our hairstyles and stuff often, and I’m sure it will make you a lot of money.
- Too much butter everywhere. ):
- I’d like to see duels implemented, as they’re good for pvp practice.
