Gohlar, I’m not sure what you mean by challenging. The only thing that is the challenging aspect is being punished for mistakes. Other than that all you need is the meta builds, which by the way got worse as it went along. Once you’ve done it, you know what to expect. That’s why I got bored of it fast.
For elite areas to be challenging and fun, at least in my opinion, it should have unpredictability. By this I mean, monsters would spawn, patrol, attack differently each time you go in. Also have different quest that would branch out differently. This way there’s more focus on team work rather than making builds just around specific mobs like the speed clear teams.
At your lvl, I’d highly recommend doing the chain events at Harathi Hinterlands located at the NW corner. Events happen in a row, lots of defense type events = good number of farms, and the timer for the event to repeat is not long- at least in my server.
Noticed what OP said during beta. Also recently saw some plants underwater also get disturbed when you swim through them.
I’m on ultra setting btw.
I was surprised to see light rain in Blood Tide Coast. I only thought there was night and day. Anyone else notice rain in the game?
I personally don’t think not having a sub fee is going to keep ppl here as much as others seem to.
Actually that’s the best part of it. Once you buy it you’re not obligated to grind the game to get your money’s worth. You can come and go as you please. You can expect this game to be busy during holidays, and not so busy when schools open and everyone’s back to work. As for the hype, it has lived up to it.
Spent more than $60.00 actually, and it’s worth every penny.
Out of curiosity, have you guys tried lvling with just WvW? I’m doing that with my second character. It is slower and I’m enjoying it.
It seems the elite skills are balanced towards pvp with short usage and long cool downs. In pve, this is really bad since I could think of much more useful skills I could’ve replaced most elite skills with.
Haha bragging about bad rewards? Learn to use Magic find, newcomer.
I heard magic find was tested by people having very high magic find and it was found to be almost useless.
I have full pirate gear and I got 3 times the number of rares than the person I was partied with farming at Orr for about 2 hours.
Ye…do you know how chances work?
Going to take a guess here so don’t quote me on this. I think whenever there a gear drop it’s chances of it being blue, green or yellow increases. The keyword is gear drop. Taking into account craft items and junk items I don’t think magic find increases gear drop rates.
If you like grinding you could go for titles.

Now that my primary character’s almost done, I’m looking for some tips for engineer. Planning to focus on conditional damage, so I’m going for pistol and flamethrower. While the other 3 skills, including healing will be turrets.
What secondary attribute should I focus on, Toughness or vitality? Reason I’m not aiming for power is because using flamethrower would usually put me close to enemies. And which traits are best to work on? I’d prefer 2 increased all the way to 30 and 1 up to 10.
There are 2 npcs in the HoM. One right as you enter and another in the back, standing on a lily pad. You get the HoM rewards from the npc in the back, assuming that you were talking to the npc infront.
