I also have this problem, burn guardians burst is by far the strongest of any class right now and im always geting aggro, switch to scepter and play support during events, then switch to sword for the final push that way you are not being killed 5 seconds into the fight
Or you can just play poorly like everyone else and wont have to worry about it, a pet will probably get aggro from you
You can get a HoT key cheaper than a monthly subscription on those key selling sites, just make sure its a legit one that people know about, dont have to buy the $30 one from Anet
Sorry to burst your bubble archer kittens but ranger is not an archer and never was, rangers use a mix of melee weapons and maybe a shortbow, so if you want to be halfway viable at range be a elementalist and stack in melee, just because you stack in melee for a burn phase doesnt make the whole game melee friendly
why else would i see half the morons in a event standing back with the lootbow?
Almost every other player besides you as a new player is mastery level 180 with the trashiest lame glowing wings outfit …lol, but ive never seen anyone be outright rude to new players
It’s bad game design. Ranged classes are viable in other MMOs. In GW2, melee is preferred because of the short range on boons and heals. This is one of the reasons why I only do open world content where I can play whatever I want (I also prefer ranged combat and I’m anti-meta).
In other MMO’s ranged dps always have a advantage over melee because of range and higher dps with very small advantage to being melee, whill at the same time having to avoid much more mechanic and cleaves as melee, GW2 is one of the only mmo’s in existance to be balaned melee vs ranged. Melee is high risk high reward in every type of gameplay pvp/pve/solo, the higher the risk playstyle the higher the reward given
Dont even try and say melee is safe in this game, you die all the time as melee in WvW and in random open world events where the ranged character just afk’s whill auto attacking
Your only option is to play suboptimally and deal with no one wanting to group with you ever, ranged has the advantage of being super casual to play and always being out of danger whill melee takes the high risk high reward approach. its completely balanced and is something unique about GW2 not seen in any other MMO and should never change
Only issue here i see ranged players being painfully lazy and unwilling to take 5 step forward to be next to the group during burn phases

Condi has 1 “main stat” Power has 4 plus the vitality it needs to be at melee most of the time to use it
Melee – All melee weapons give 20% less damage taken to the weilder (only effective in open world)
Rangers give themselves a name, and that name is selfish loner, never do i see rangers supporting the team in pve or pvp, usually they are the first to run ahead and KS the mobs in a event before slower classes can get a tag in
Even if rangers were good for pve i wouldnt take one because i know the type of kid that would play a ranger knowing the state they are in…just a clueless kid who wants easy street

the community of endgame is indeed trash, and ill i have to do is see it from the outside to know, glad i can get perfect gear without need for raid in this game
Melee could use some quality of life buffs for sure, but as it stands a mix of melee and ranged is going to be far more effective than just sitting at range, this is why you have this handly little switch weapon button that i notice ranged players never even use
Also some people just enjoy the high risk high reward gameplay, this isent EQ1 where peopel like to stand around and auto attack, some people actually enjoy the fast paced style of melee
Its not the person healing, not the person tanking all the mobs, not the person doing a million damage per hit, no its the guy using the weakest attack in the game that has a huge aoe radius so you can recieve loot from everything that dies
Isent it time to change the way loot gets distributed? like if you do a certain amount of damage or heal people then all mobs in a large radius around you will still give you loot rights, be creative, because the sole reason most staff guardians are crying is because the mechanics of recieving loot in GW2 are broken.
maybe anet could care less about if your account will be popular on ebay or not? seriously, what world are people living in lol
old farts selling accounts to each other for profit have a game and its called everquest 1, this game is too new for that

Most of the time the attention of the boss is going towards a melee, meaning a melee is doing most damages
Then why would i continue to grind at endgame as a mere 99 percentile player? i feel i will get max level then quit this game untill i can see all the content i payed for, and just go back to WoW/FFXIV that has that required feature.
