Dear god no. We have 2 to 5 hour queues for EB on JQ. Your suggestion MIGHT be fine for some servers does not make sense for others.
Perhaps GW2 needs to use a overflow per grouping. I.E. Only gold servers players go into into a EB server. They reduce the amount of players on the main map (and and shave the points). Overflow would have very little impact on scoring (just the remaining shaved amount) but you get to play the map you wanted! Those that are interested in doing achievements can do them.
For me its about being able to play on EB. I log in at night, all the other BL are clear, we have everything this week and most of last. EB is all there is. This league action has ruined queues. Overflow might fix both issues of queues and map population.
First problem drove me to your search. Useless description of the daily for “Daily Activity Participation” Which says NOTHING. Then I try to search the forums and just trying to type it in is a pain because the search is cutting me of trying to active real time search for something it believes is not there.
You know I like to type in everything.. Not get cut off. (See google, and how it works)
So instinct tells me to drop to Google and search and I’m redirected to your forums.
0/10 for your search engine. Seems like this has been dragging on for a while.
But one solution would be to revert the changes that made orr so empty. And from there you can do the more exciting and rewarding stuff
It’s certainly one of the options we discussed, however it brings us right back to the initial problem we set out to solve, a large part of the player base was asking for more exciting and difficult open world content in our top end areas. The original version of Orr events were painfully easy, they didn’t scale well, mobs evaporated into thin-air and you had to race to even get a hit in before they died to get credit for kills.
The ideal balance point we’d like to have is with the scaling and more exciting encounters we have now, so it’s actually fun and at least remotely challenging to play there, but also rewarding as well. The reward systems we want to roll out to support those areas are part of a larger reward revamp and aren’t done yet, but are on their way and tie more strongly into the comprehensive system we’re trying to develop, thus the swap.
In regards to regular mobs hitting for insane damage, we did find a bug about a month ago causing many of them to scale way out of proportion, it has since been fixed and normal bosses in Orr should be doing damage on par with other bosses in the game. If you find any that are still nutso, please give us a shout, the intent is they should be fun/challenging, not one-hit-wonders.
Hope that helps give more insight into what we’re trying to do here, these changes are directly tied to feedback we’ve received. You don’t have to agree with them, but it’s important we explain why we’re doing them so folks understand the end goal, which I don’t believe we’ve reached yet until the rewards are there as well.
And now off to do that work thing, thanks for the feedback folks, as always keep it coming we really appreciate it!
There are so many other places I can go and do exciting events. I want the old Orr back. The champs, and over abundance if vets killed solo players and slowed down a players ability to farm, which cleaned out the zone.
Colin your not listening to your player base fully. Yes we want great content, exciting, etc, but not at the expense of what was Cursed Shore. There are so many other zones that are empty to attract players, mean while players are asking for Orr to be as it was.
I just want to go to ORR and solo farm for a couple hours. I don’t want to group. It’s a zone, not a world dungeon? I don’t want to have a zerg of 10 vet spiders on me and a champ.
I’m pretty casual player and I’m not very rich. I need that kind of content we use to have in Cursed Shore to continue progressing. I’m sure there are mixed reasons why others want it back, but regardless many want it back.
I gotta say I wish they had never introduced the gem converter because we know that this is what is driving all of this. They do not want us making too much gold. As a casual player I can’t convert my gold I have to save it anyway. Remove it for all I care (I’m sure that’s going to make all the rich players mad)
The latest case of “farming nerfs” was actually a bug fix. I’m aware of this because I was asked to help identify the issue. The area in question contained a spawn that was defined to have more creatures than spots for those creatures to spawn. So for example, 25 skelks spawning on 10 points. This is not intended. Not only does it just look absurd, it’s also leads to some extremely bizarre play conditions. This is one of those bugs that’s so buggy, the fact that our toolset even allowed this to happen is a bug. Another bug caused this bug. Bugception.
If we didn’t want players to be able to farm, we wouldn’t have put in the huge (and free) magic and gold find buffs for Southsun Cove. We wouldn’t drop loot from the giant mobs of creatures that appear in upscaled events. We certainly wouldn’t have put in chests that appear after events which cycle every 8 to 10 minutes. How quickly all of that content goes completely forgotten in the angered responses to a simple change to an area that was clearly bugged. :/
On farming in general, there’s a sweet spot that combines good loot with fun, engaging content. I think Southsun had that going for it, especially before certain aspects of the content were isolated as optimal. As someone who’s actively working on upcoming Living World releases, I’m aiming to find that sweet spot and hit it in a big way.
I understand partially what your saying Anthony. I saw some of the crazy grouping in SOME areas. Let me ask the question though.. After the South Sun events are done players I guess go back to a battered and bruised ORR. (Yes you nerfed it that hard). The timing is ridiculous between events, and the vets/champs are terrible to deal with.
Making gold in this game is terrible. I’m not sitting on the trade house flipping. It’s not how I play, Kudos to those who can.
I’m sure Anet will continue to nerf any major farm site for 1 major reason
- The more gold we make, the more gold we have to convert to gems. Which means we are not spending our cash for gems. Financially it does not make sense to have these huge gold farms in game.
As a casual player who loves this game, I refuse to sit on the BLTP and flip. I want to kill enemies and make some gold, but this game has made it so hard. Over powered Champs, events delayed even longer than before.
I had a friend start playing last month, and he has a hard time investing time in the game because he doesn’t see any personal rewards. This game is so hard to earn gold early on unless you luck out with a drop (dye or something early on).
Anet really needs to find a better balance for long term sustainability.
If someone from Anet wants to really impress me they could stop “fixing” Orr, maybe even revert back to the way it was 4 or 5 months ago. Set Plinx free!
Look, I’m not saying that increased loot rewards hasn’t contributed to the problem at all. Obviously it has. But when people deny that guesting has nothing to do with it, that is just plain wrong.
Guesting has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of players required to create an overflow.
An overflow will still be created with 0 guests present.
Even if anet disabled guesting for a week, there would still be overflows at the world events… and I hope that they do exactly that to prove my point to all of the people complaining about guesting.
I would love to see that to prove it right or wrong. I do not care if I’m personally right or wrong… I just want to enjoy my game time, and not see that god kitten overflow pop up when i expect to have a cool encounter. It just needs to get fixed whatever the cause or solution.
Easy way to find out. Remove chest rewards for guests on world events. They can get it on their own servers. They can still come over and play 99.9% of the other content with friends. This (I think) would put this to rest if its a guest issue or not.
My experience with this has been horrible. Playing a Jade Quarry a heavy pop server already, BUT we never got overflow for world events, now we are and the lag. So in the past couple days I guested over to some light servers and guess what.. No lag, no overflow. Everyone is just putting 2 and 2 together as this started happening after guesting on every world event (at least on our server).
Anet just needs to fix this. I for one ticket this every time I encounter it. I see it as blocking a PVE event.
I work for a living, not a game. I played years ago in MMO’s as a hard core gamer, and those years are done, like I said I’m pretty casual now so gold is not easy to come by. Cosmetic items should not be out of reach for casual players.
I guess this will be the first and last time offering a suggestion as people just come in here and bash instead of respecting other players opinions and play style. arrg.
I realize I don’t HAVE to buy it, but I want it because for some reason Abyss is black and black is a dark gray (or so it seems). My point was it would nice to see these drop rates increased so all players (not just rich ones) could customize them the way they want.
I know some will not like this suggestion as they have a bit of gold tied up in, but the cost of dye is ridiculous. 20g or 15g for others for the good dyes is a gold drainer for me and I’m sure other true casual players.
I have a harder time inviting friends to the game when I see things like this get severely out of control. (not just dyes, trade market in general) I realize there are players with hundreds of gold, but the items like these should be realistically obtainable without a huge time sync.
Increase the drop rate… A LOT please

As far as I can tell the issue is still there and it just cost me 63k Karma from what would normally be a innocent single click, and this game registers random clicks as double clicks, as well as the stupid sketchy movement which I still saw today. I was annoyed before trying to drag items from my inventory which you would have to single click (no one related at all to windows speed settings or anything in game) to move it but only to have to do it multiple times, but imagine if it doesn’t work on Dyes or food. Yup, I consumed multiple.
I soon learned I had to deposit into my bank and remove them back so the single click wouldn’t consume incidentally if it did it. Today was the worst when I was looking at some cultural armor and clicked on a shield. I should have know better and the game registered it as a double click. So annoyed. Pretty much the vast majority of my karma gone.. I put a ticket in, but I heard that takes days, and to date no Dev has acknowledge these mouse problems in these threads or others.
I did not list my model previously and it’s obvious this post needs Dev attention. Hope everyone posts a in game ticket as well
Logitech MX Revolution (M-RBQ124)
I downloaded the latest setpoint (which also has the drivers) and it did not help. Post is almost going on a week now…bug, well since launch.
Same problem with the running. Has anyone else notice problems with moving items in inventory as well? I’m getting pretty annoyed moving food and consuming 2 or 3. The game does not seem to recognize single or double clicks randomly, and I know for sure it is not my mouse speed.
