Guild Wars 2

Some skills have changed a fair bit, such as the addition of Torment (a damaging condition that deals more damage if the target is moving) to some skills in place of other effects but, to my knowledge, none of the professions have changed, barring certain nerfs and buffs, to a huge extent.

I’d recommend sticking with your Mesmer, they have a lot to offer in every aspect of the game and, in my opinion, the most interesting utilities. Thief and Elementalist have been a ton of fun to level up as well, Thief for the combat mobility and Ele…well for the combat mobility as well (except on fire).

Don’t feel too put off by unchanging weapon set skills, after all in any other game you’d be stuck with them after hitting level cap anyway :P

For normal PvE levelling I’d recommend using sword/pistol (power gear) or dagger/dagger (condition gear) with shortbow secondary for both – in my opinion the two most effective and fun weapon sets for Thief levelling.

Considering Guardian is the closest thing you’ll find to a Paladin from World of Warcraft in Guild Wars 2 it may be time for you to try out something new

Warrior is a pretty easy class to learn and extremely easy to level, from the information you’ve provided I’d say you should try it out next if you want to stick to something close to a Paladin – however you may find it about as fun as playing your Guardian.

If you want to try out something different however, the more engaging classes to play in my experience are Thieves, Mesmers and Elementalists. I’d recommend specific weapon sets but I don’t know what might appeal to you, I personally had a lot of fun using dagger/dagger as both Thief and Ele and, while none of their weapons really struck me as awesome, Mesmers have some fun utility skills (Portal and Feedback being some obvious favourites).

Close to hitting 80 on my Thief and went back to do the Personal Story missions 58+ I missed – most likely because I had already jumped onto the Trahearne Hate Club :P

The person/team that designed and/or tested the Dhzudin Stormbreaker fight are, in my honest opinion, cruel and unforgiving creatures of the night that live to steal candy from children and relentlessly poke helpless old ladies attempting to cross the street. The sheer amount of aoe crowd control available to this one boss is sickening, the extent to which actual damaging abilities were ignored in favour of providing such an arsenal of control is horrifying and, of all the despicable ideas not yet put in action by the Grinch, the decision to support this boss with allies whose sole purpose is to stun and stun again to appease their petty master…

I can’t actually think of a worse fight in a videogame. Really. They even made Trahearne invincible so if you were out of line of sight of the boss it could keep chaining its tiny lightning bolts at you. Trahearne is going to get the spray bottle if this kind of unhelpful behaviour continues.

About a day ago I finally got around to updating the game after not having played for about a month, it appeared to successfully update so I left it for a bit – I didn’t attempt to play it immediately. When I started the game up several hours later it hit a bit of a snag in the form of a data archive check which then progressed into wanting to re-download 228,000 files. Being stuck with 10 Gigs per month worth of download I can’t really do much about this and I’m not sure what may have triggered the failure of the check, I’m afraid it might have been caused by temporary internet issues etc.

Is there any way of trying the check again? I’m really at a loss about how to deal with this issue.
