The wardrobe is pretty awesome, the ability to wear outfits in combat is great. I mean come on, I’m a pirate now ! Problem is, outfits don’t show on my mesmer’s illusions, also, aquatic helm don’t even show on the character but that’s nowhere as big a problem as the mesmer’s illusions keeping the regular gear…
Thanks for that ! I must say, for some reason, I really love this kind of statistics. They are in no way necessary but knowing these kind of details is really amazing !
They are still present in Jade Sea [FR], saw them in Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills. I think I’ve seen them in the Plains of Ashford too, but I’ve not visited the other zones for a while, so I guess they’re still present in all of their original zones.
I do not see anyone asking the only relevant question… assuming the Ascendant items are a new tier… what colour will their names be written with ?
I’m going to take my sweet time to get this armour, hopefully I’m patient and my Norn is not yet level 80 so I still have some time to plan. Unfortunately, I buy every single gems I use and I use a lot of those; so it’s going to be long : 30 gold for Wintersday Gems, let’s say 20 / 30 gold of gear (stats + weapon skins), then I might need more bag space, so 1200 more gems just for unlocking them. Oh and then I’ll be able to save money for the armour =).
And then… I might be hitting for Mjolnir T_T
Edit : Hopefully, in the meantime I’ll be able to use the heritage armour which still looks awesome, so I won’t have to spend more gold and gems on a temporary armour skin xD
Big Elk : That’s actually pretty cool, but my Norn would never leave you alone with this because she would be convinced it is only a surname :P
My Norn’s called SigrĂșn Lonewolf. It actually makes sense with her background, since she is pretty weird in her on way but still follows Wolf.
It has been proven to fail in a sense that complexity is created but at the same time, the benefits are prominent over the long run.
If this were true, gw1 pve wouldn’t be the broken collection of builds farming the hardest areas of the game in 5-20minutes that it is. It achieves nothing except making pve very very easy, not ‘pve balance’. That’s fine, but it also throws up an additional entry barrier to pvp, and that’s not.
This also strikes me as a fairly unnecessary split. 5s less Save Yourselves wouldn’t exactly break guardians in PvE.
Then the problem comes from the balance of PvE skills, not from the fact that they are split…
Aren’t those skins craftable too ?
This is extremely disappointing and sad. Instead of answering or flagging the topic for review by developers, they stashed it in the ranger forum.
This same forum in which they have not given us any reply to for the longest time to any of our posts. The last reply was to shutdown the SB Changes Discussion Thread.
I guess, in a way, that informs us (or me at least) what we need to know.
This is extremely disappointing and sad. It is so really really sad. As much as I try to believe what Anet says about how they treat customers, for me at least, the picture currently looks quite different.
It seems at the current moment our voices don’t seem to matter. I was inspired and I did try. But in the end it was not meant to be. I will still try to keep hope that they will answer us. But I was brought up to never beat a death horse and well this is now a dead horse.
I don’t like saying this like this, but you’re a bit of a paranoid you know. Sure there is no news and this is quite badly handled, but still I cannot believe they do not hear us or anything, they are just not commenting…
What did you expect ? You post a ranger topic in the general discussion when there is a ranger subforum. This was unavoidable.

You’re mentioning the underpowered nature of some weapons and I might agree with you, but I adapted to that and can still take down a fair bit on my own (including a champion) with nothing but a short bow and an axe/torch.-snip
Underwater? Do you use a speargun? The bleeds I can stack with a shark pet is ridiculous – health just melts off stuff.
I’m only going to answer to these parts, as it illustrates very well what I think.
First about underwater since I brought it up. I didn’t say we were bad underwater, I actually like the speargun, but seriously, we lack utilities… I haven’t checked how many skills each profession has underwater, but we can only use 2 healing skills, 11 utilities and 2 elites. Healing skills I can live with it, and I can understand how healing spring might not work, though they could slightly change how the skill works underwater but whatever.
Elite skills… As you said, Entangle is a great elite and there is no reason why it should not work. Warriors have floating banners, why can’t we have algae or something like that immobilizing enemies ? Though our two other elites work well so there is no emergency here either
Utilities. Okay, now here is the joke part. I don’t know for you, but in most situations except for survival skills and trap skills, I think our utilities are not that good. Our signets are ridiculously underpowered compared to other classes, spirits are fragile (even traited), which we can supposedly live with, but their passive effects only work at a relatively close range, effectively limiting dramatically their usefulness… Now we’re left with out three survival skills. Maybe signet of the wild if you need some regen, but well, four skills. Not much of a choice.
The problem of the weapons. Heh, most of our weapons are fined. The shortbow is still efficient, the main-hand axe is awesome, I like most of our weapons actually. I’ve only got problems with the main-hand sword which is not practical to use and the off-hand axe which I find a bit lacking. Also, the greatsword might pack enough of a punch, but it is still usable =).
Pets… are actually fine. they just lack responsiveness on the F2 skill and mobility while using their auto-attack (not so sure about this one though
).
Now I am not saying the ranger do not have some very good options, just that they are not varied at all. The philosophy of “just deal with what you are given” does not work.. If I am given three options I don’t want to just have one of them viable. I want to be able to use all three of them. So what most people are complaining about is the lack of variety for rangers, the lack of balancing and most of all the lack of information. You can’t tell me when you read the patch note that it doesn’t look like a joke…
Until a few weeks ago I assumed rangers were on par with the other classes, even underwater where half our skills don’t even work (even one of our healing skill). Then I rolled a warrior, looked at underwater skills, laughed and gave up hope on the ranger. Can we have something about them ? Anything, I’d be satisfied with a “We don’t like rangers, they can rot in the Underworld for all we care”…
Edit : Well, a couple weeks ago anyway.
I’m 21, soon to be 22 and I love this game, I can’t get enough and so far I’ve mainly been doing PvE, I have yet to fully experiment WvW and sPvP, I guess by the time I start getting bored of the current content something new will arrive in Tyria =)
I just love how some players say they assume every single ranger is a bot. It feels nice to be appreciated <_<.
Crucible of Eternity coat do not clip, it’s actually correctly designed =)
