Thanks for the replies, everyone! We hope we’ve found a home and have contacted the relevant parties via PM… but appreciate all the suggestions just the same.
Who we are: Two friendly Canadians looking for a new home for their level 80 characters.
What we play: We generally do PvE, dungeons, fractals… but occasionally do WvW.
Where we play: We’re on the Dragonbrand server and would prefer to stay there. Trying to minimize costs – we just bought a house.
When we play: We’re in the EST zone, and we typically play from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
What we’re looking for: A casual, friendly, mature guild that treats players with respect and likes to both have fun and play hard. Sass and sarcasm are welcome. Jokes at others’ expense are not.
A few more details…
My fiancĂ© and I are in our late 20s. He’s a digital artist and illustrator, I’m an elementary school teacher. We work hard, and consequently there will be some nights where we won’t be able to play at all, so a casual guild would suit us best! We like to get to know the people we play with, so active guild chat, forums, voice chat, etc. would be lovely.
We’re looking for a guild that can balance having fun with playing hard. We like to laugh, make jokes, and have a good time, but we also like tackling some of the more challenging content out there. We like dungeons! We also like running around as a herd of Quaggan. Y’know. Like you do.
When we’re not playing GW2, we are likely enjoying one of these other things: other video games, board games, tabletop, cooking, theatre, crafting, art shows… We have an active social life outside of the game, but we always make time for our guild! As I mentioned before, we just bought a house AND we’re getting married in December, so these two things are resulting in a fairly busy schedule, but we also like to take time for ourselves to de-stress, and GW2 is a good way to do that.
It’s pretty early and I haven’t even had one tiny sip of coffee yet today, so if I forgot something that would be good to know (which is likely), ask away!
Why can’t ANet use GMT, like the rest of the world? I mean, surely you realize not even all Americans know the difference between Pacific and GMT, and you expect all non-Americans to calculate it just for you?
Do your community a favor and please adopt the international standard of using GMT/UTC so the global Guild Wars 2 community is more clearly informed about stuff like this.
ANet was extremely clear with their announcements that the times/dates they posted were in PDT. They even gave the GMT time in parentheses on the website. It’s not all that difficult to do the conversion yourself if you really need to.
If you didn’t receive the e-mail, check your spam folder? Gmail sent the e-mail to my spam folder, heh. :p I only knew about it because my guildmates posted it on our forums!
So basically when you say “its going live 22nd” you need to advertise it to us EU players as “October 23” because basically that’s it – updates like this won’t roll for us when people are playing and its already 3 AM here so might as well go to sleep now lol.
Or you could just use GMT times so people would better understand.
They DID market it as October 23rd to EU players. There was a version of the e-mail message which gave the European dates. Furthermore, they indicated in the NA e-mail that times/dates were PST, so I think they were clear enough…
I just checked both emails I received from GW2 about the Halloween event and it says this in the first email..
“From 23 October until 2 November (European dates), Halloween goes off the rails, and you’re exactly the right person to fix it.”
This is from the second email..
“From October 22, 2012 until November 1, 2012, Halloween goes off the rails, and you’re exactly the right person to fix it.”
My guess, based on these e-mails, is that the event will start at 5 PST/8 EST when the dailies usually reset, then. That would put it at midnight or later in Europe, which would explain the different dates.
