Well a specialized team would need to rewrite this. Those people aren’t the ones creating content, different skill sets.
The question is what does it buy ANet, beyond some good will from some players who get bent out of shape because frame rate drops below some arbitrary number that they rarely see on their rig in other games. They aren’t going to sell that many more copies by advertising “now frame rate doesn’t suck in crowds”.
And as far as the Wikipedia knows, the original Guild Wars engine was totally proprietary and not some variant on a old version of UE. Perhaps a very early version of GW that was shown off at an event was UE based for demo purposes but I don’t think it ever shipped.
RIP City of Heroes

Turtles can be cute, strong, ninjas and almighty!
It is through this post that The Almighty Turtles[TAT] ask for a lovely turtle mini, a stupendous turtle rush, a turtle tonic to melt hearts in Lion’s arch and last, but not least, a turtle shell backpack!
That is all. Long live the turtles, death to the crabs!

I still find it funny how people are complaining about a guy doing what he wanted to do inside their mini-game, while they were doing the same thing – on a bigger scale
In this case, i’m on the side of the developer.
No one cares that he disrupted it, or tried to, that happens all the time. The fact that he then flagged up and expressed his opinion on other peoples activity, giving an official overture to the entire interaction is the problem.
Oh well, at least they apologized in a nice spin doctor fashion while not addressing if ANET actually views GvG the way the employee did.
He popped up the tag as soon as players started to insult him by calling him a kitten and gay. They are doing what they want and noone’s calling them tards for doing so. Now someone stands there and ignore their rules, and everyone go /rage mode.
Trolling or not, players didn’t react as they should either and it’s not only the devs fault. The fault was on both sides but mostly on players for not respecting the authority.
I don’t think this thread is necessary at all. I’m sure everyone wants to play the game however they find the most joy out of it, that includes ANet players. He did express his displeasure at what was taking place though I highly doubt he understood exactly what we were doing there. It also didn’t take more then 5 minutes for him to get the message and move out of the way. As for players being rude, its really just a build-up of multiple disruptions from 3rd parties that find joy in… well making other people mad(i.e. Trolls). If you watch the video of the full GvG you’ll notice that there are a lot of randoms that intentionally and unintentionally disrupt the event. If these same ppl find that GvG’s are taking up space in WvW why then go and intentionally disrupt it making it last twice as long as it would have initially? I highly doubt our GvG woulda lasted longer then 1 tick if it just went smoothly with no interruptions, and I highly doubt we’d be doing one if the macth-up was balanced.
Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey…. you wouldn’t understand
1. Should there be guild halls?
2. Why should there be guild halls?
3. How soon should they be added?
4. How should guild halls be obtained?
5. How would they affect the game? (GvG, passive buffs, WvW, etc)
1. Yes
2. Many, MANY, reasons, some of which: New form of horizontal progression for guilds (guild “achievements” represented through trophies), a place to call home/hangout, RP purposes, a sense of character ownership/guild fellowship, a place to attack/defend in GvG. (Also, think of the money Anet could make by offering gem exclusive furniture =P)
3. They should be a priority in my opinion, with the recent design philosophy shift from temporary content to an emphasis on permanent content I think this should be one of the first permanent content projects that is worked on and added to throughout the months (things that could be added: new guild hall locations, which would double as GvG maps). Why GW1 has them and GW2 has yet to add them is beyond me.
4. This is an interesting and bound to be controversial topic that I have no clear answer for at the time, however… Perhaps there should be multiple means of obtaining a Guild Hall? Through gold or influence?
5. GvG should take a page out of the WvW book rather than the SPvP book and allow players to use their PvE/WvW earned gear. Siege weapons would also be an interesting dynamic to add to battles that would range between 10v10 and 30v30.
are you sure, that you are actually playing “Guild Wars 2”?
if you’re mid 30, try out Ascalonian Catacombs.
or jump on a WvWvW choochoo karma train.
or do fractals.
or just explore.
do story quests.
hunt achievements.
train your skills at the sPvP.
guest on more populated servers, if you think that most areas are too empty.
this game got tons of different stuff for everyone’s taste.
and it’s far away from being a grind, unless you’re going for a legendary.
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
TL;DR – Wanted WoW2.
