[Bug, Issue] Daily Chest Vanished/Day Skipped

Daily Log-In Chest rewards are soul-bound to whatever character logs in first. If you deleted the character without claiming the reward, you lost the ability to receive the reward.

Sorry for your loss.

Aye, I figured out it may be something like that after the fact, but hindsight’s always 20/20. Beforehand, I had figured Login Rewards were account-based rewards and thought little more beyond that. :c

Hello thanks for stopping in! =)

Recently I got my 16th level 80 character, and began making a new round of 8 characters to begin leveling. This took a bit of trial and error, and I would delete and remake them if I decided I was unhappy with their name, appearance or so on.

During the night of January 13th, I’d logged in to the game to continue making a new character or two. Upon making mty first of the evening, Rafa Skyseer, I noticed I had been greeted in-game with the Daily Reward in the lower right of the UI. I’d decided I wasn’t entirely happy with the name, decided I wouldn’t keep the character, and decided to not touch the chest at all so I could swap characters and claim it on one of my 80s. I logged out of the new character, deleted it, and changed to one of my 80s to discover the Daily Chest was no longer being offered. It was gone, and I had absolutely no means now of claiming it.

The following day, to my dismay, I discovered via the Daily Reward Calender that the game had skipped that day I’d missed my reward. The final reward of the first week, Bag of Laurels (10 count) had been skipped without me ever being able to claim them.

I’ve contacted support about this matter ( Ticket 1133443 ); while the folks I’ve been in communication with seem to be unable to help me, their last communication on the ticket asked me to create a post on the bug report thread. So here it is!

Reproduction steps:

Step 1: Log into a Character A at the start of a new day.
Step 2: Log back out of Character A without touching the Daily Login reward prompt.
Step 3: Delete Character A.
Step 4: Log into Character B. The Daily Reward offer will be gone.
Step 5: Wait a day, check the “calender” the next time you redeem a daily reward. You’ll see the reward that was supposed to be granted previous day has been skipped.

Gem Exchange Fix where?

Aye, I’m still hoping for an update on this too. This isn’t something that’ll be forgotten by OCD folks like myself who’ll be bothered getting stuck with a weird leftover amount of unusable gems.

Alternative question/method: Can I ticket support when I have leftover gems, asking them to remove my leftovers? Can I also do this when I have, for example, 803 gems and I want it to be an even 800?

Gem Exchange Fix where?

What I’m supposed to do with 1 gem???

What do you do with 1 cent in change? Isn’t it the same thing?

I like you Gaile, and I totally realize you’re not the one responsible for changes like these. Which makes it difficult for me to try to find the right words to contest your question here. :c

It’s not really the same thing. In the real world, one cent in change adds up. We have jobs, we get paid, those paychecks roll into one-another and before we know it those pennies get turned into dollars we can then go out to get lunch with or what have you.

Gems are different, though! We don’t get paid in gems. We don’t get to that point where we’ll be able to save up and make use of the spare bits that have become something larger. Trading in gold for gems is out of the question, naturally, since turning gold into gems so we can trade spare gems back into gold would be strange indeed!

In this case, the only way to ever make use of those extra gems is to spend more money. This is the same sort of stuff that Microsoft got labeled anti-consumer for when they rolled out Microsoft Points, ensuring users would always have an odd amount of currency left over to motivate them to buy more if they ever hoped to make use of it. I feel there are many users who feel this is exactly ArenaNet’s intention for the initial “fixed amount” revision of the currency exchange as well as the patched one, intentionally making the exchange unfriendly enough so users can’t have a sink for their spare gems.

I want to call ignorance here. I don’t want to believe these changes are a result of someone at ArenaNet deciding they wanted to pursue a more aggressive marketing method at the expense of the playerbase. But…. I don’t really know what other reason there could be. The original system was perfectly functional, other than the new player confusion aspects you all have mentioned previously. I’m not sure what, apart from a calculated anti-consumer strategy, would keep y’all from restoring the full functionality of the old exchange.

Microsoft Points were a much-loathed currency; you all do -not- want to seek to emulate that and bring unnecessary ill-will to yourselves and your players!

All of this may seem minor to you. To some extent, it is! A few gems would probably just pay for waypoint fees of a character I’m leveling for a week or two. It’s more about the message this change is sending us as players.

I’ve had cats in my household me entire life. Losing a four-legged family member like that has never been easy, whether it was my diabetic Siamese who had been with me for over 17 years of my life or the leukemic Calico I’d brought home from my workplace dumpster who lived with me for a year before succumbing to her disease. Our hearts may ache, but never forget all the joys that made it worthwhile for everyone. You have my sincere sympathies. :c

Posting to lend my voice here. I’ve fond, fond memories of SAB: Back to School, as it was the current event when I joined the game as well as the thing my friends used on me to convine me to give GW2 a try.

I’ve been waiting and waiting for it’s glorious return, all the while telling my friends who are newer to the game about it, and we’re all still pumped for a return that seems to never come about.

World 3 or no, please bring it back. So much love and detail went into the SAB that it’s a shame the intent seems to be to lock it away forever. :c

  • I want to prevent someone from seeing me. Players may desire a display name change for personal reasons. For instance, they once were friends with someone and now wish to stop interacting. Or they claim they are being “stalked” by another player. Changing for such personal reasons is not supported. More importantly: If we completely change your Display Name, people who once had you on their Friends or Blocked list still will be able to identify you. There is no way to “reset” an account and wipe its history. If someone knows the old Display Name they’ll simply see the new one. (I believe that the system is designed this way to prevent people from losing their contacts if they have to change their Display Name for a genuine security issue.)

To address this particular problem, wouldn’t the easiest solution be to appear as permanently offline to people one has on their block list? I’ve always found the lack of this to be a bit odd! One could opt to go invisible, of course, but only after logging completely into the game, hiding their status from everyone, and rendered unable to communicate with their guild.

I feel there should be some room for stalker control without having to go to such an extreme. :c

You ask a valid question, Mokai, and I’ll see if I can learn more about this suggestion. It seems to me that we discussed this long ago and it was not possible, in a technological sense, but I certainly can investigate. Thanks.

And thank you for responding! =)

Having a programmer friend, I completely understand that what we players may perceive as simple to us can actually be extremely complicated in terms of design. :P

Problem: Not a single item that uses the “Rogue Mask” skin will unlock it in the wardrobe. Tested with multiple pieces of equipment, including:

Scout’s Mask
Improved Scout’s Mask
Oldgate Leather Mask
Sentinel Scout Leather Helm
Dostoev Leather Helm
Magmatic Mask
Brackwater Mask

Testing with any of the above listed items should result in easy reproduction steps. :)

In lieu of a phantasm, the mesmer rifle just summons a random zerker rifle warrior player from whatever he is doing, gives him full adrenaline and marks your target as hostile. If the target dies, it gives the warrior a champion loot bag and sends him on his way.
