Raid teaching runs: Proving accessibility

I would love to get into a successful raid run. At this point, after months of failed raid attempts, I’ve only even managed one kill of the Vale Guardian. My regular group makes a weekly 3 hour attempt but we are still struggling to bring it all together to take the raid boss down. My main problems are finding the time to commit to a raid, and finding a group willing to take on a guardian with such a low success rate.

If anyone raiding could use an extra, send me a PM. If I’m free and have the time to put into it I’d be happy to join up! I’m on NA, and I’ve got full ascended gear for tanking, melee dps and burning condi for my guardian/dragonhunter.

Ok, I tried it out with Virtues replacing Zeal. Gotta admit the damage does seem much higher. Build revised to reflect more focus on Virtues and consecrations.

Overall I liked more of the traits that Zeal had to offer. If the only thing I get for my build from Virtues is Supreme Justice, Zeal offers symbols a chance to burn, deals additional damage to enemies with burning on them, and adds to condition damage from power.

I’ll keep an open mind and give it a shot though. Thanks for the advice.

Radiant Dragon build

I finally created the gear for this build yesterday and found it to be pretty effective. I called it the Radiant Dragon build in reference to the Radiance and Dragonhunter trait lines used.

Coming from an AH build with Soldier’s/Sentinel’s stats, this build was much squishier. In events with a lot of tough enemies like in Dragon’s Stand I had to be much more careful like when I play my scholar professions, but the upside is that things definitely died much faster. In places like Silverwastes enemies didn’t have hardly any chance to lay into me.

The biggest concern I have for the build is encountering enemies immune to burning as that is the chief source of damage, but even without it the bow is still somewhat effective.

I’ve left a message with Rufusaen asking about this, but for now I would say the safe bet is to go by the server time, however Daylight Savings plays out. Hope this helps.

Legendary Hours

in Crafting

I was just wondering what a good estimate would be for the hours involved in forging a Legendary? I know, given the chance factor and variable efficiency of the player, that times are bound to fluxuate, but there should be a general range or normal distribution of time involved to obtain the neccessary materials.

The main reason I’m asking is my interest in comparing the hours of crafting a legendary to the same amount of money one could make working (assuming different earnings) the same number of hours, and at what point it’s more economically feasible to just buy the gold via gem store and purchase one from the trading post?

I know there is a general stigma from many players about taking that route vs earning it the ‘right’ way, and I’m not trying to start an argument when there are so many other threads that have brushed such a topic. I can see merits to either side, and to be frank I like the option to purchase one if you have that much disposable income so you don’t feel left out having a career and wanting to enjoy the game at the same level as someone who has the time to invest in the game. I’m just curious about the numbers.

I see two possible ways to have fun with this.

1) Everyone agrees to make the Kitten Room a safe haven full of peace between the servers.

2) Everyone fights to the death to claim the Kitten Room as their own. THE KITTENS SHALL BE OURS!!!!!

Or maybe everyone can just pick up a free mini-pet kitten. I will name mine Major Fluffykins.

Archon Lunis Facts

in Guardian

Mooncutter.2907

We all know the CN ‘facts’ out there and the amusement brought by them. I thought it would be fun to try it out with GW2, and for lack of a better option coming to mind, I used my own Guardian, Archon Lunis. If you would like to get creative and chip in, feel free. All I ask is that you keep it clean.

When Archon Lunis shouts “Retreat!” the enemy turns and runs.

Thieves don’t have permastealth. They’re just too afraid of being seen by Archon Lunis.

Stealth does not help. Archon Lunis sees all.

If you see Archon Lunis, he can see you. If you can’t see him, you’re about half a second from a hammer to the face.

Archon is the not the first name of Archon Lunis, it’s a title. Even whispering his first name inflicted burning, so he had to change it.

Archon Lunis is the only guardian to have pets. They are better known as the Elder Dragons.

There is no culling, there is only a list of people Archon Lunis allows to be seen.

Logan Thackery used to be decent in a fight, never running away and always winning. Then someone suggested he had trained Archon Lunis. Now Logan runs from every fight.

Someone once started to tell Archon Lunis that hammers were only for PvP and greatswords were better. They got a hammer to the face before they even got a sound out.

Anytime Archon Lunis inflicts burning on an enemy, someone somewhere else randomly bursts into flame. This is better known as spontaneous combustion.

Captain America saw Archon Lunis using a spirit shield. That’s how he got the idea to use one as a weapon.

Gandalf once saw Archon Lunis using a staff. His death was actually caused by the attempt to mimic what he observed.

No one knows the dps of Archon Lunis. No one has ever lasted long enough for it to be calculated.

Archon Lunis has patience instead of health. If attacked, he quickly starts to lose it…

In a fight between Rytlock and Logan, Archon Lunis would win.

Archon Lunis ignores blocks and evades. No one can block his hammer and no one is brave enough to risk further retribution by trying to evade.

The Banhammer was the first weapon Archon Lunis ever crafted. He donated it to the devs.

Repair costs are actually royalties paid to Archon Lunis since he invented dps.

Archon Lunis created the Shiverpeaks to keep his soda cold.

Archon Lunis once punched a ghost.

Water is too afraid to to go near Archon Lunis. That’s why he can use his normal weapon skills under water.

Archon Lunis’ greatsword would inflict burning, kill every character and NPC in all servers, and immediately transfer every item and loot to his inventory. To give everyone a slightly better chance to live longer he uses a hammer.

Archon Lunis could remove conditions from the game, but he likes inflicting burning too much to get rid of it.

Archon Lunis can use a bow. He uses greatswords as arrows.

Archon Lunis has never used retaliation. You can’t retaliate if nothing is foolish enough to attack.

Archon Lunis once asked for a glyph that would REDUCE damage. No one dared ask why.

Archon Lunis does not heal. Archon Lunis does not give life, he only takes it away.

Archon Lunis actually rolled the game as a warrior, but decided he liked the Guardian abilities so he started using them instead. ANet was too afraid to tell him he couldn’t do that.

Archon Lunis cannot crit. Any increase in damage output would crash the servers.

When Archon Lunis targets you, you get inflicted with burning.

Archon Lunis hates profanity and loves kittens. He also likes reading the forums.

Archon Lunis only has one trait line to spec in- Archon Lunis.

The Searing wasn’t caused by the Charr. Archon Lunis just ran out of soda and didn’t take it too well.

Everyone believes Zhaitan raised Orr, which flooded Lion’s Arch. Actually, Archon Lunis thought it was looking a little dirty.

When Rytlock goes to bed at night, he checks his closet and under the bed for Archon Lunis.
