Living World Story so solo unfriendly

in Living World

I wouldn’t say this is solo unfriendly. Okay, you have to work out the mechanics of the fights. Do you really want the whole concept on how to do them there already? part of gaming is to work out these things yourself or at least have a go. Not be told what to do at every turn or there is no sense of achievement. You want it all handed to you on a plate? Now come on. It is really not that hard to stay alive when soloing. Running around on ranger kiting away, yeah it took some time but hey, I got it done without dying. “Justiciar’s shield is down great, now to figure out how I did that”, run around a bit longer in a circle with longer radius, “oh i see, i have to keep her in the beam for about 3 seconds”. Now when it came to jade then use counter magic and keep in the beam again, you can heal or whatever it’s fine, just stand it in the beam for a few seconds, that’s it. “You counter the bloodstone magic which they are also powered by, mmm, opposite to power something is to disable something”. Job done. Takes a little while but still. I was popping off some of the white mantle while running around and even got an achievement for one celebrating too early or something like that. Had no idea about achievements for anything like that at that point, so that was a bonus. The first two jades are there for you to realise about getting the beam to pass through them to disable the shields. How can you say there is no way to know? if solo then just kite the instance. It may take a while but at least survivability is way higher and you can heal while using the new mastery counter magic (only one track may i add and not hard to gain) which begs a question, will more be added to that? probably and we at least know which dragon will be next most likely, the question though is this, why the reference about characters changing their outlooks/opinions on things?

With the Justiciars fight you do not even have to fight the other spawns. Just concentrate on the Justiciar. The other spawns will go for the members of your party, i.e. Rytlock etc. Nothing hard about it. I hardly even dodged, sometimes but not very often.

There is a reason for the new mastery counter magic. A new skill, so you do not DIE from not using it. It is the deadliest thing in the instance, the bloodstones, that is what kills you faster than anything else if you do not use the skill.

The two jades/golems/elementals (wasn’t paying attention tbh) are the biggest hint. The ones BEFORE the Justiciar. That is the training section if you like.

Forget the endless spawns totally, they are there to distract you. Pop them off if they get in the way while you stay targetted on what you need to, Justiciar and the big Jade. Follow that and kite and heal and use the new skill when it pops up (- key) and you shouldn’t die once.

The whole point being that even the brainbox Taimi doesn’t really know for sure.

On the last fight all i used was the stones. Does pretty good damage as it is really. just don’t get long before you Jade to move again is all. But for those few seconds, damage wise it is a lot each time.

nevermind. seems it didn’t show initially after the patch was downloaded. I had no options for it at first. don’t know why and yes i was looking in the right place. I was not looking in the sound section or any other section like hotkeys. I am not daft. My system for some reason does bug out now and then. As with bluetooth and usb headphones etc and visual studio not showing all options at times. My comp has character.

UM new camera? not for me. Same old camera no new view or anything. nothing changed. And before someone says anything yes I have fully downloaded everything and still nothing and yes I have closed the client and restarted etc. Think you need to go back and resolve issues here. Something is definately not right.

Game Wont Install?

Actually, thinking about it. There should be no problem with the Gw2Setup.exe filename but there is and I would seriously recommend ANet get this resolved. No customer should have to rename or cut and paste a web installer to a new location and should as originally (I believe) have standard install option just as on any software such as a standard install location but the option to change that. Seriously look into this please someone. It is not that hard to implement is it?

Right click Gw2.exe and create a shortcut. Right click the shortcut and select properties. Modify the shortcut’s target like this, using your own path:

Target: "C:\Example\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe" -StreamingClient

Click OK. Right click the shortcut and run it as an administrator. This should prevent getting stuck on a few files remaining.

pop’s up with a box saying Yes / No

Post a screenshot of it. Not sure what that is.

The problem with this is that this is IF the game is already installed.

The issue is with the executable downloaded installer that downloads the game NOT JUST THE PATCH. The -StreamingClient is if you have the option for the target location NOT THE INSTALLER EXECUTABLE meaning the game is already fully installed on your current system.

We need not have a screenshot as the op states that they UNINSTALLED THE GAME. btw I am using captiols to highlight key points not to have a go at anyone.

The executable installer in no way has a target location within it’s properties so the -StreamingClient add on will be pointless at this initial stage.

[Suggestion] Deployment of glider

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Correct me if I’m wrong but the glider does deploy when falling but from certain people doing vids on the masteries I believe that jumping into the air and then deploying the glider is one of the glider masteries you will need to work on getting. I am pretty sure it was there and I am sure WoodenPotatoes or some other person did show this on their youtube channel not long ago. So it seems that I believe to start you will need to fall off something to deploy after a second or two but then work on mastery to get to jump into the air to deploy it. Is this what you want? if so then that has been accounted for and so now, when you can, GO EARN IT. To have everything handed to you on a plate would be boring. The jump ability to deploy was certainly worded this way on the mastery stages but not till the end or towards the end of the mastery ladder if I rememeber correctly

Revenant Starting Area [Possible Spoilers]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

It is highly plausible to have revenants start in normal starting areas and leave the mists. The reason being is this.

We are told Rytlock is the first revenant NOT the first revenant and the first revenant to leave the mists.

In other words: Rytlock can stay in the mists, become the first revenant, train others and have them leave first while he trains more. This can allow for Zaihtan also. Since mists time is not bound and therefore there really is no time as such (if you think about it).

ok look at it this way. Say person a is the first to train as something. if we assume they are the first to leave have they trained others fully? maybe not. then this would be pointless.

However, if person a masters A class and trains persons B to Z. Then persons B-Z can leave when they have fully completed their training with person A still in the training room training more. like building an army. person a would still be the first but not the first to leave the mists as that class

Hence we are told Rytlock is the first revenant yes. But we were not told he was the first revenant and the first to leave. this would assume then, who is training the rest? you would need more fully trained who have mastered to also stay in the mists for rytlock to leave when there are enough to train more. Rytlock either way would be the first revenant at any point. to be the first revenant is not that he has to leave to be fully revenant. just that he trained to be and became the first in the mists therefore no matter of he stays he is still and always would be the first even when he is not the first to leave.

i see most assume being the first revenant means he is the first to leave yet this is not the case at all. there are many instances that can be called where the first to learn does not have to be the first to leave.

so when you go for training in your ps. etc. the early bit? you can still come back before zaihtan and before rytlock comes back and rytlock still be the first to have become a revenant. he just did not leave before you but that takes nothing away from him being the first.

this also allows for the same starting maps for each race that decides to become revenant and changes nothing and allows for adding the new class starting at lvl 1.

the general trains the troops then sends the troops ahead of himself when they have completed training. this does not change the fact the general trained first.

i don’t know how else or any other way to explain the simple concept. this has nothing to do with undead and when did rytlock die? i thought undead were controlled by zaihtan, and isn’t zaihtan now in durmand priory? well part of him (Tail). Rytlock does not look undead or dead or anything like anything else but still the same charr he was except he seems to enjoy playing blindman’s buff. ALOT.

It’s easy to figure out that much is possible.

Forgot to add this.

If they look like Karkas then they have a theme tune.

To the Transformers cartoon theme.
To remind: Transformers, robots in disguise.

TranformAloooeees, Karkas in disguise…. dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Rytlock: Ah perfect. Barbecue fuel. Just what I need for my en flambe part of my chef’s course.

Mmm def seems to be Aloes but I didn’t know Aloes could be corrupted since we fought them in GW1 anyway. Seems they are our natural enemy anyway and couldn’t they be from Mord even from then? A dragon sleeping may have some form of followers if that makes sense. How long does it take for dragons to rouse from sleep fully anyway? A looooong time. I still haven’t seen one called vera. Yes, Vera the Aloe. Mord and Vera sitting in a COUGH tree. The poor tree.

Time to get Bill and Ben armoured up. Something more sturdy than their flower pots.

If that was Rytlock then this would be Aloes in the past where Rytlock is and not now. So we may or may not see them return.

So....Caithe...(SPOILERS!!!)

Caithe taking the egg makes perfect sense.

How do you hide such a thing and prevent your enemy from getting it? by hiding it from your allies too who are trying to find it also. If you know there is a spy what do you do? Get your most trusted, secretive ally to help. Prevent all enemy and friend from knowing anything. The enemy would follow the allies to find that thing you want to protect. Caithe not saying anything and no time to explain simply means she will be the only one to be able to hide the egg from ALL. only she will know. It is her Wylde hunt. She does not kill the master of peace at all but rather knowing he was about to die and the rest distracted by eagerly waiting to hear what he was going to say she snook in there at the most opportune time to take the egg. At any other time she would be prevented from doing so so easily. This is exactly what i would do given the fact Mordremoth and his mob would follow you to prevent the security of the egg from developing in peace. Caithe has an uncanny ability of making sure no-one knows where she is. It is the perfect strategy for the preservation of the egg and to make sure it does NOT fall into the wrong hands. If only she knows then if she dies she takes the secret location details with her.

to sum up.

To prevent the enemy from finding out especially with spies is to not allow your allies to even know preventing any spy or information accidentally leaking out. Protecting the egg and everyone else in the process.

DO NOT think Caithe is bad. Think carefully. It is the most logical move for any tactician. A thief is great for this role and the best thief is the most perfect to carry out the role unlike any other class. It also stops arguments between the orders as what to do.

• Yes, I spent a lot of my career at Disney, but my passion is building great characters and telling great stories, regardless of genre. So, don’t expect the Elder Dragons to break into song anytime soon. So, don’t expect the Elder Dragons to break into song anytime soon.

Now seeing the elder dragons suddenly break out into song would be hilarious. Jormag almost dead suddenly sings a blues track. Teq sings “Sailing”. While dancing with a top hat and cane. Tap dancing Mordremoth perhaps? Little birds and deer and rabbits could jump around in front and fly and land on their heads. NPCs and our chars could stand and scratch their heads in amazement and stifling bewilderment.
