It doesn’t matter where I am, which account I’m on, or what I’m doing (though it really does love zone changes), I haven’t been able to play without seeing this about once every ten minutes since Tuesday. Win7 Pro 64.

I am currently unable to complete the prolugue mission. At the last rally point before the portal to verdant brink (after the escort and talking to all the LS npcs), I approach the green star. At that point the UI hides as if starting with a cut scene but instead the game becomes unresponsive. The standard anet crash UI does not appear

got the same Problem :-( 3 times and it didnt work

Tried quitting the mission, finishing a different mission and restarting, and partying with someone who hadn’t done it yet. Nothing.

I admit it: I’d given up on the Living Story. I’d put up with Southsun which was ultimately made unliveable by a psychotic Sylvari. I put up with every antic on the planet from Scarlet, the great Mary Sue of psychotic Sylvari. I even tolerated being forced into doing jump puzzles with incredibly awkward Zephyr controls in order to save the leader of the Zephyrs from...a psychotic Sylvari. But then -I realized Short Round- err, Taimi wasn’t going to stop rhapsodizing about the achievements of Sylvari Sue, that I knew how Fort Salma was going to end before I started the instance, and got sick of having a level 80 character with optimal armor, weapons and buffs killed by Mordrem (a term that showed up because… Kasmeer said) that are the only things that apparently don’t scale for zone.

Meanwhile, Lion’s Arch remained a wreck, as did Orr, and the Treaty Negotiations in the Iron Marches appeared to be on the same schedule as the Middle East. And you guys have faced every criticism in the world because of that, and because the living story wouldn’t stop being about...psychotic Sylvari who appear to be servants of Mordramoth whenever they have the gall to question the Ventari Tablets. when what veteran players wanted was a cleansed Orr, a new LA, etc. And I just couldn’t comprehend the disconnect between the writers and the audience.

So I decided to make an RP character to salvage some enjoyment from the game. Her backstory requires Kessex Hills map completion, so there I’ve spent the last day in there. And funny thing: the Lion Guard have...made a treaty with the centaurs to protect their caravans and get supplies into LA quicker, and the Seraph and some residents are not pleased. I asked my soon-to-be GM, fellow lore-binger, and friend who follows the LS with a magnifying glass when that happened and he said that he hadn’t known about it — and he’d predicted Mordramoth in two months into the game. There are also...migrant caravans of people from Divinity's Reach headed for LA because they're unhappy not just with the Queen, but with the nobility and class system in general. In LA, you can be what you make of yourself, one new NPC says. And every non-Krait species in Kessex Hills, be they loyal to Seraph, Lionsguard, or Pale Tree, is angry — not because...of Mordrem roots in the ground, but because the Krait have unchallenged control of the lake, and no one’s doing anything about it.

So I guess my question is: you guys are getting all the crap in the world right now. The last “feature pack” didn’t do much to help, and meanwhile, the constant complaints about Orr, LA, etc. are met with silence. Except you've...quietly laid the background for all of that to change but you haven’t told anyone, why in the name of Dwayna aren’t you telling anyone? I only noticed because hey, that’s a named NPC who I don’t remember in Kessex Hills, which is not the most popular map ever. I’m going to go comb other maps to look for similar clues. But searching for this stuff doesn’t give me any kind of reward, which is nearly as rewarding as the publicized Living Story where the rewards aren’t worth the frustration. So please: give us and yourselves a break. Highlight the Living Story you’ve put together that everyone wants but hasn’t noticed yet. Surprises are nice and all, but you guys deserve better, and people who love the lore deserve in-game rewards for finding all these clues to the next chapter early instead of getting dominated by Mordrem wolves all day.

So, I’ve been doing my best to… come to terms with the new leveling scheme and my love of alts and the 1-20 stories. While I was letting the steam burn off I used up some of the last of the summer membership on Runescape a friend got me that I didn’t like very much but felt obligated to play because I didn’t want to waste his money.

And there it was: Classic version.

It’s not like the code for the old story/leveling system doesn’t exist anymore, or that there isn’t plenty of precedent for the privilege. Those of us who bought the game extra early still get a reward in the Hero’s Band every time we start an alt. People with linked GW1 accounts have access to titles others don’t. There’s plenty of S1 living story content I missed because I couldn’t log on and so I’ll never get those rewards. Seeing as we vets are the ones who are most upset about the changes, I think it’s possible to not split the baby on this one.

If your account was purchased prior to the 9/9/14 patch, then you have the option of retaining the original personal story and level unlocks

This won’t give PvE vets any advantage over new ones – we’re not competing with them, and if anything, not being able to sell things to them on the trading post limits one of our previous cash flows. PvP already uplevels to 80, and WvW uplevels always had severe limitations when it came to equipment and abilities, so it’s not like it changes gameplay in any other aspect. Meanwhile, I can go back to challenging myself to find creative ways to beat 1-20 stories at the lowest possible levels and with even more limited equipment and buffs. And the people who like this system can choose to go with it.

I hope you’ll give this consideration.

So… on one end I’ve invested quite a bit in multiple character slots because I find the 1-20 personal stories the most interesting. Those were always pretty casual friendly: I can beat my beloved “Dude Where’s My Charr?” (I blacked out at the moot for Norn) quest off at level 12 now because I’m a better player for having played it on so many different classes and because I know how to craft the armor and things necessary to do that quest.

Except now the content that was created to help a PVE player level TO 10 and 20 isn’t available until AFTER they hit 10 and 20? This is content that’s been available to me for two years, but now I can’t play until I grind a toon to the point where it’s ridiculously overpowered? Blech.

And on the other side we have the living story, where my characters I learned to play on, learned to WvW on and thus became quite good at playing those classes, with the best weapons, armor, food, etc for the situation: and I can’t walk through the Iron Marches any more without a Mordrem champ mob conditioning me to “I hope some nice samaritan comes to res me,” and I definitely can’t get through the instances without asking a guild member to come help.

So… I can either choose “press X to win” or start losing money on having to replace mice slammed down in frustration after the fifth time I talk to the golem instead of actually executing an AOE attack? … after two loyal years, I can’t defend that.

Still no event on SF. Also, I know it was working yesterday evening because I had put two other characters through, if that helps.

I’m on Sorrow’s Furnace and I’ve been watching Tigh Snatchskull wander around the cattlepult for more than a half hour now. According to the wiki, he’s supposed to show up with more cows so that the harpies can attack and Mad Mardine can test the machine approximately every 12 minutes or so. Don’t know if it’s happening on other servers as well, but perhaps Tigh’s forgotten to switch his watch for DST? Can you please fix this so that I can get the vista and the map completion. Thank you.
