Wow I honestly never thought this thread would get so big, but I’m glad it did! Personally, I think Anet has dispelled some of the concerns I had when I first made the thread. Originally, I thought Kas and Marjory where just being lesbians to appease a straight male audience. While I do believe this certainly has something to do with the decision, I also would state now that their relationship is present as MUCH more than that. Little additions like their house in DR or the curtain banter really sell them for me. Had it just been their flirting and the finale kiss I would have maintained my position that it’s just for the “hot lesbian” effect, but now when I saw the kiss I actually cared and REALLY did not want Marjory to die (we necros gotta stick together).
Anyone else notice that after an invasion the ogre in Lonar’s Pass will remember you saved him and give you a buff if you did the event? Bravo A-Net it’s this detail that really strikes me!
All I can say is that Evon has been warning us about this attack since Wintersday. Kiel? Not so much… she was just a holiday greeter.
If that cat pulls a professor McGonagall and turns into Livia all of my prayers will have been answered.
Wow thanks guys wasn’t aware that Norn had an established system! Makes a lot more sense now. Haha I’d love to see both Bro-ham (I know it’s actually Braham), and Rox’s surnames change after season 1 of the living story for warband/legend reasons.
So how much of a joke is Bro-ham’s name? I’m not really familiar with Norn naming conventions (there’s so little lore about them), that I’m not sure if this is normal for Norn or did the living world writers just want to make this REALLY obvious?
I wonder why it is that people always want to apply the 6 gods onto everything! Plus you forgot Kormir! (though I don’t blame you for that).
Not sure that Scarlet “created” the Aetherblades. She said that they need them to make the ships for her or that she would replace them with holograms.
Except the poster in her lair suggests otherwise. There’s a line drawn between pirates and the Inquest and it’s unlikely they got together without her influence.
At least they aren’t making googly eyes at each other going “I wub u!” “No, I wub u!” “I wub u more!” “No, -I- wub u more!”
Actually, that’s exactly what the scene in the bar with the curtains, and the scene at the beach (which people are photobombing) felt like.
Really? To me it felt like Kasmeer trying to be silly and cheer Marjory up.
Except I actually think she would put up curtains and will be looking for Black ones in the Dead End after we beat Scarlet lol. Wouldn’t that make a good first housing item? Black Curtains. A nice little nod to lore nerds
I couldn’t help but think about Joker from Mass Effect. I literally asked my guild if Taimi had Vollerk’s (idk how it was spelled in ME) Syndrome. They even both make a joke about being asked to dance!
Worth noting here, I love my mother very much and if she were in trouble I would move heaven and earth to help as much as I could manage.
That does not mean we are an incestuous duo.
I’m pretty sure that to most people a love story has a very sexual and romantic connotation. I’ve never heard about a mother and son’s relationship described as a love story….
I dont see them as being a couple. I see them as two girlfriends talking suggestively. I have several straight female friends who act lesbian when they’re together, but its just an act.
Except it was confirmed in the living story livestream that they are a “love story”
In regards to Scarlet’s story not being tied to the dragons I question wether or not that is still true. We were told that the TR patch was indeed tied to the living story, but we’ve yet to see a connection at all in the story.
I guess one of my major points is that it seems statistically unlikely that we’d have another major lesbian relationship. Obviously this is not real life so a decision was made to have them be lesbians, and I question why lesbians AGAIN when we haven’t really had a gay relationship (besides that very minor one in the Sylvari PS).
Alright, let me start this topic by saying that I am gay and I am all about putting LGBT characters in gaming. That being said, with the recent confirmation in the living story livestream that Marjory and Kas are a “love story” I’m beginning to question Anet’s motives. Faolain and Caithe were good characters, and I loved that an LGBT relationship was such an important part of the main story in GW2, but by adding another lesbian relationship to the “biconics” as well as the “iconics” I’m starting to think Anet is just doing it because girl on girl is hot. The only other relationship we have really seen in a major part of the game is Logan and Queen Jenna, and even then they don’t have 10% of the flirting that the 2 lesbian pairings do. Am I alone in thinking like this?
So I was walking around LA when I ran into Evon walking outside the TP! I was shocked to see him so I chatted him up and was surprised to see new chat options and maybe hints at future living story?
1. He’s still mad about the election go figure
2. The chat can tell I voted for him and that’s awesome
3. He suggests that Scarlet will soon send a kittenault on LA and Keil is not prepared. Is this how we will end Scarlets storyline? I last grand battle in LA?
1. Story and lore presentation post-personal story. Return of long lore rich scavenger hunts or alternative text rich story events.
2. New areas and expansion content
3. Player home instances revamp/housing
Did anyone else notice during the Slick and Sparki fight that Slick invokes Jormag’s name? He seems to be a Son of Svanir which means Scarlet has almost united all the racial enemies if the Sons of Svanir and Nightmare Court are being added into the mix of Flame Legion (F&F), and Inquest (Sky Pirates).
Reading all of these bosses really shows how lacking the villains in GW2 have been overall. Does anyone have any idea why they have been done so poorly compared to GW1? Even the EotN bosses have great stories which presumably had GW2 in mind. If some of the same people are writing, what happened that shifted their work so dramatically?
After looking over the release notes it looks to be somewhat of a smaller overall patch than we’ve been used to. Anyone else think this might be because of some huge PvE content (Battle of Divinities Reach?) they don’t want to tell us about?
Anyone else excited to see that Queen Jenna actually took up arms against the Atherblades during the attack? I even saw some cross profession combos between her and Anise. Good to see the queen finally get her hands dirty and not just make a bubble.
All I want to know is where can I buy those sweet candidate posters they mailed out!
After reading what will be coming on June 25th I can’t help but get excited. A new story dungeon, permanent scavenger hunt, book and permanent jumping puzzle! Finally an update the seems to really have some more lore and story that I’ve been craving!
I opened 50 regular coffers, got the dragon wings…. don’t hate me I’m not trolling!
As excited as I am for the upcoming festivities I can’t help but wonder if Anet will take this opportunity of an entirely dragon filled update, to expand a bit on what we know about the dragons. Their lore has been extremely limited so far and we’ve seen them add lore through patches (like the Halloween hunt), but what do you guys think of chances are of us getting some new dragon info?
Hi All,
Just a disclaimer that I am writing this before I attempt the new explorable dungeons so if my answers are in there please just let me know. I was just wondering what happened in the story between last patch and now? Last I check we were looking at strange flowers and now all of a sudden we’ve found Canach? Is there any story as to how we found him? What those flowers actually are? Furthermore, I talked to Lord Farren and you respond to him about some sort of DR cat riot? Should I know about this?
Mind sharing what exactly is so compelling about him? All I got out of the broken scavenger hunt was he was some how responsible for the Karka…
So during the Flame and Frost dungeon you obtain some crumpled pages of the last will and testament of char and are told to give it to his warband member Sten Veilshredder. Sten kinda just blows this off and all you get is 2 lines of dialog. So my question is why would Anet do this? I think it might be a hint towards the next major story arc as Sten doesn’t give you any direct info, but is researching the ghosts of ascolon and specifically Rurik. I mean why send us to this specific guy and not another refugee if it wasn’t significant?
Thoughts?
Ok I so I’m a big fan of Anet’s Scavenger Hunt (Quest Lines) that they have added in with the last two updates, yes even the Karka one. But I’m a little disappointed to not see one with Wintersday. While I think most everything they have added is fantastic, does anyone know if a scavenger hunt will be added in the later stages?
