I was just going to post about how this was stealth nerfed. I used to use two bloodlust weapons to gain stacks faster (can’t do this anymore but this change was mentioned in patch notes) and then swap out to two different weapons. Post-patch, the swapping to another set of weapons would cause me to lose my bloodlust stacks. Thanks for the info, I’ll buy a bloodlust sigil now and apply it to my underwater weapon. At least that will work for now, until it gets stealth nerfed too.

Why am i lagging

in WvW

Morxeton.1743

It’s your CPU. Since culling has been fixed, I noticed much more lag on my AMD system in large fights. In task manager, I saw very high CPU usage.

I have an AMD Phenom 9950 quad-core overclocked to 3.1GHz, 8GB DDR2, and an nVidia GTX 670 overclocked edition with 4GB GDDR5.

On my Intel laptop running a quad-core i7, 12GB DDR3, and an nVidia GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5, it’s smooth as silk.

I have always been an AMD supporter but the performance of their CPUs just can’t hang with Intel, sadly…

I think one of the best ways to address this issue is making the outmanned buff actually worth something. Make it so it’s a 33% bonus to all stats and gives you 33% more damage to doors, walls, and guards.

Being outmanned basically means you are going to get stomped anyways. With this change, it would allow the outmanned server to flip objectives faster and have a better fighting chance against a larger group of players. It’s not perfect but I think it’s better than what we have now.

Haha Morxeton, but where’s your castle?

Definitely fond memories…. live events, housing, skills rather than armour based, at least at the beginning. :/

Hah, well I actually never owned a castle, let alone a large tower. I was too involved in PvP to actually farm enough gold to buy one. I agree, fond memories indeed… I have a few really good friends who I’ve met in UO when I started playing back in the late 90’s.

Playing as the anti-PK was a blast. Protecting people, kicking some kitten, etc. I did however PK people that deserved it. The “looters” as we called them, were people who intentionally blocked you in while a mob killed you, so they can loot your corpse. Basically they were too chicken to be an actual PK. I KOS’d them all the time. Even went red several times because of them. They learned to just run when they see me, even though I was blue most of the time. LOL

I also killed thieves who messed with me or my friends. I did however befriend some thieves after calling a truce. They agreed to never steal from me and my friends again, and I agreed to never kill them again. I would look the other way when they were stealing from other people I didn’t know. I guess you could say I was a bit corrupted, haha. Then you have the noto-PKs. They intentionally flagged gray so you’d attack them, and they would kill/loot you without repercussion. I’d KOS them too, serves them right for flagging gray and being too cheeseball to do the real deal and just outright PK.

Attached another pic for your enjoyment. This is even older, and when I was a bit more noob, as you can tell with the spells all over the place. I was too lazy to remove most of them since they were hotkeyed. This newb PK was terribad, but I wanted to post the pic more for the mare that I was riding, when I wasn’t even a tamer. There was a taming bug back then that a friend of mine used to transfer a mare to me. I couldn’t control it but hell, it was cool riding one being a tank mage.

And for everybody who doesn’t get the appeal of UO, but wants to emphasize with the old timers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4O3R5i39SQ#t=3033s

I followed UO over years, but I never played it, because even back then as a kid the open world PKing was something I would never have wanted to subject myself to, even if everything else sounded soooo much fun.

The guy in that video, Jarrett Cale, pretty much nailed it. I played as a “protector”, as he called them… pretty much the anti-PK. I was always hunting with my friends who were not very good at PvP, and whenever PKers showed up, I would fight them off. There was a ton of excitement with never knowing what to expect. Every time you step out of town, you could die and lose everything to a PKer. Although there was a lot more to it than just that. He’s right though, UO was a once in a lifetime experience, since no games ever will be able to capture the social aspect that UO once had pre-UO:R. The “prey” (people who don’t PvP or PvP well) will never play a game with open PvP where they could lose everything upon death. That experience is lost forever.

Speaking of UO nostalgia. Here’s a screenshot of me pwning a group of noob PKers that kept hiding in their house. They decided it wasn’t safe to open their door anymore. Worst PKers ever. I sure do miss PVP in UO…

I agree with UO’s housing system. It was awesome. Too bad UO:R killed the game for me.

I would say UO’s freedom was awesome. You could do whatever you wanted (granted pre UO:R). Someone made you angry because they’re being a jerk or stole your loot, or whatever the case? Just kill them and loot their corpse dry. Like playing a shady character that steals from people (even people in town)? Just GM (grandmaster – means get 100 in the skill) stealing, snooping, hiding, and stealthing and you’re golden. Want to be a tank mage? Sure, go ahead. Want to be a swordsman/miner/blacksmith? Then go ahead. The skill combinations were great and the freedom to do whatever made the game truly awesome. The PKing did get rampant at times, but there were plenty of anti-PKs, such as myself, who regularly seeked out and killed them. PvP in that game was a blast. Vas Ort Flam, Corp Por, <hally whack>, <dead>… memories!

The event started on Borlis Pass. A bunch of karka attacked around Fort Marriner. We killed them and completed that event. An ancient karka had attacked and in the middle of fighting it, it just disappears. Now there’s absolutely nothing going on.

We’re all confused. Is this supposed to happen? What is next and when does it start?

ANet needs to implement server-side validation using client-side prediction techniques. It isn’t perfect and could cause rubber banding in laggy scenarios but it’s better than what we are dealing with now.

Hadan is the OP and the leader of Krew. If there is indeed a rogue individual in Krew that performed this act, then send him the proof so he can deal with it. And again if someone in Krew did do this, you act like the entire guild is guilty by association. By that logic I suppose if someone in your family commits a crime, your entire family is guilty. You are far too quick to judge. Shoot first, ask questions later?

Your attacks on Krew are baseless without proof (screenshot or video) to show it was a Krew member that hacked the orb. If you have such evidence, please submit it to Hadan so the matter can be dealt with. While reporting the hacker, you can get their ANet tag, and that info would identify who did it. If you have that info, PM Hadan with it.

I think Krew had the most numbers attacking the Garrison that night so it’s easy to blame the guild when you see the tag everywhere. I was there that night and had no clue any hacking took place. I thought you guys intentially took the orb to reset it back to your altar in the north to delay us from taking it. I’ve never carried the orb so I do not know how it all works with carrying and resetting.

Insults and claims that Krew, or even the entire Borlis Pass server, are hackers is nonsensical. It was likely hacked by some idiot who is not affiliated with any of the WvW guilds. It seems as though many servers suffer from hacking, exploiting, and botting. If you encounter any of such behavior you should be reporting it immediately. If they are guilded, if possible try to identify who their GM is and contact them ASAP. We had a guildie in CmpA that was found to be botting. It turns out his account was compromised.

Great! Glyph of Renewal is now worthless.

Well, to be fair, it was already mostly useless.

I wouldn’t say that. Not that I used it a whole lot, but there has been the occasion in WvW where I would get out of combat, swap in the skill, switch to Earth and rez three dead allies while we’re assaulting some place (i.e. a keep). It has its purposes but the cooldown is ridiculous, and now that it only revives downed allies makes this skill absolutely worthless.

Glyph of Renewal is now the most absolute worthless skill of all professions now. Only downed allies? Seriously? It takes longer to channel than it does to just revive a downed ally.

Should have seen the whirlpool nerf coming. It was the only elite skill that was actually worth something.

AR and BP are both guilty of doing hit and runs on each other. If there’s no coordination and cooperation between the two servers to focus fire on NSP then you really can’t expect much. Of course you will always have some pugs that will attack anything with a red name above their head regardless of cooperation between servers…

I don’t think it’s fair to say AR is a server full of the dumbest people. It’s also not fair to say AR will always crush BP. Let’s be civil and work together against a common enemy. I’m all for flanking NSP from multiple sides and at least going out with a bang.

Regardless, this is all in good competitive fun.

Ouch. I’m on Borlis Pass. What guild just left?

It has been a lot of fun but also a bit frustrating on how disorganized we are. Can’t seem to get our foothold on anything because too many of us are out running around solo, not coordinating attacks, no strategizing but instead mindless last minute zergs, etc. There’s also a lack of communication at times.

We need help alright. We need dedicate players that communicate and work well as a team. Players that can strategize and coordinate. Let’s bring Borlis Pass up the ranks a bit! C’mon you know you want to join…!
