Karma Bazaar

It seems with each successive release that you guys would like Karma to be viewed as a valuable resource, since Karma drops tend to be the most common “Living Story” rewards, and yet the players are determined to consider Karma as a practically worthless resource, since it’s such a pain in the kitten to spend. There are useful things to buy with Karma, but they are spread all over the place, with travel costs to get there and often event chains that need competing before you can access any of them.

My suggestion would be to open a Karma Bazaar, a single location in the game where most of the desirable karma-based items can be purchased. This could be in LA, although since that city is already packed to the gills I might suggest Rata Sum instead. This place would allow you to buy all the karma-harvesting tools, all the karma cooking ingredients, at least most of the karma clothing pieces, etc.

To some this would cheapen the specialness of unlocking these vendors in the wild. Perhaps if possible it could require that you “unlock” each vendor in the bazaar in order to use them, like for example if you have a vendor that sells every piece of level 50-60 karma armors, to unlock him you would have to first unlock each of the heart vendors that already sell those items, and then maybe have to activate a small quest, which would then unlock that vendor in the Bazaar for all your characters.

I really think that making it easier for players to buy handy items using their Karma would make people have much more value for the currency than they currently do. As it stands, they’re a bit like that gasoline rebate on the tv show where to collect it people had to climb a mountain. Yeah, the reward is nice, but is it really worth the bother?

Make dyes for all characters on account

It’s a bit discouraging knowing that every dye you find can only be used on one of your characters and doesn’t carry over for your whole account. If I spend a tonne of time finding and collecting dyes, why can’t I use them on all of my characters?

Dyes should be account wide once unlocked, not character independent.

chooseable ground targeting

There are skills like Dragons Tooth, that would be better sometimes to be ground targeted. There are skills like Shatterstone i would hope for automatical targeting my foe. There are also skills, where I am OK with the fast casting option.

But I cant choose an option to deactivate foe targeting (Dragons tooth)
I also cant activate foe targeting (Shatterstone)
And if i ativate fast casinf, i cant activate it only on one skill (Static Field)

Pls make a “target foe” option and also make these chooseable for each skill alone.

New Elite Skill Set: Weapon Type

in Suggestions

Short version: I find our current list of elite skills rather anaemic; racials are mostly considered useless for anything other than personal amusement, and even a fair amount of profession elite skills are considered duds. I’d like to see a new set of elite skills, one for each weapon type (though this may lead to a skewed distribution because some classes have few weapon sets *cough*engineer/ele*cough*)

Long version:
- One weapon elite skill per weapon type (possibly ignore offhand weapons)
- Possible minor mechanical variations based on profession
- Possible graphical variations based on either profession or having a legendary equipped
- Can only be used with the matching weapon type
- On weapon swap, switches to the new weapon’s elite skill if unlocked
- Either: Global cooldown for all weapon elite skills OR each of a character’s weapon sets has a separate weapon elite cooldown (but balanced in some way such as very high-length cooldowns on each individual skill, or the skills only being a slight step above utility skills)
- If off-hand elite skills exist, remember whether mainhand or offhand elite is equipped for a given weapon set
- Possible give elementalists Attunement elite skills and engineers Kit elite skills to boost their numbers, though that would essentially give them profession-specific elites.
- Affected by traits for the weapon type

Unlock requirements:
30-50 skill points
Either:
1) X progress in [weapon] master achievement track
2) X kills to “develop” the skill after paying the skill points (similar to unlocking core weapon skills)

Possible example:
Giant Cleave
Greatsword Elite – [Some casting time] [Some high cooldown time]

Description: Summon an oversized greatsword and cleave through a large area.
Mechanical effect: High damage attack with a large radius (300-600 range)

Possible graphical variations:
Warrior: Character model increases in size, including weapon, before the attack.
Guardian: Uses a giant spirit weapon greatsword and simply commands it.
Ranger: Giant green spirit-style sword wielded by a giant green spiritual bear.
Mesmer: Attack is performed by a giant phantasm.
Twilight/Sunrise: Sword used is a giant Twilight/Sunrise, including all of the regular special effects for those.

Class-specific bonus:
Warrior: Wield an enlarged greatsword for X amount of time (or ends on weapon swap, or both), doubling each attack’s radius.
Guardian: Heal self and allies the attack passes through / places a symbol of greatness which pulses might to allies.
Ranger: Pet evades attacks during its own attacks for X amount of time.
Mesmer: Creates a phantasm wielding a giant greatsword / causes a bunch of confusion stacks on victims.

Anyways, the class-specific bonuses and graphical variations are optional. The core of the idea is having an elite skill set tied to weapon types – preferably done so that each is a viable option

Bring Back The Ancient Karka.

Bring Back the Ancient Karka every 4 months, with the same sort of chest rewards as the first time.

1. It would reduce the cost of precursors, which many people would like to see. Its enough of a grind for an average player to acquire a legendary as it is and precursors prices ain’t looking to come down any time soon. I can think of so many people that say that the Legendary Idea is a great achievement but there is a brick wall which they are hitting called the precursor, which is why they will never even attempt getting one. All the other gifts can be done by anyone in game over time which is great just over different time scales, but some of the precursors are just got either by extreme luck or a very large bank balance.

2. It was quite unfair last time the amount of people that had to miss out of the “one time event” due to work etc (I wasn’t one of them I was there).

3. Southsun coast is dead, waste of map. The only people u will find there are the odd few farming on the beach.

4. It brings all the server together for a massive boss event 3 times a year for the best rewards in the game something for the level 80 end game players to keep playing for not your 1-2 rare or chance of an exotic from a dragon which are mainly salvaged (yes having this event come back 3 times a year will affect the market but only the precursor part which is what most of us want). At-least with this idea people get a huge reward that will play a big part in the creation of their long quest for a Legendary Weapon.

5. By having this event come back a few times a year will not only bring the precursor price down but also stabilise it at a lower price. By the time the prices start to rise again the next event will be upon us.

6. Any problems u think u may have had the time before, is a chance to get it as u would have wanted it next time around, with everyone only getting 1 chest NOT jumping to an overflow or in this case guesting too, and getting a 2nd or 3rd chest etc or disconnection issues.

7. It was an awesome event (HUGE) took a whole server to bring the bugger down loved it, not like these current boss events that die quicker than a local veteran. Yeh they ok for the rewards u get, but if my memory serves me correctly it was roughly a 2hr long battle and the reward matched the effort we all put in.

I do realise that there will be a few people that will object to this and they will probably be the ones that either live LA and not seen not seen much of the game apart from the TP window or already had their precursor from the first time around

Dyes - Please make them account bound.

It would be nice if they were account bound instead of character specific.

I have only used a single dye (Silver Lead on my warrior for better armor look.) and have approximately 40 dyes saved up because I don’t want to use them ‘per character’.

I’ve read a few other threads stating this but they all end up locked because they were in the ‘wrong’ sub-forum.

This is probably the one major flaw I’ve seen so far in the game, which would disavow me from even considering purchasing gems on the store.

I find it slightly disturbing that game developers are making things ‘character specific’ as I’m an altoholic and tend to create a new character or delete and rebuild characters ‘on a whim’.

An example of why this is bad : I was over on Star Trek Online and they had a ‘25th Anniversary’ celebration going, and the things you could earn were ‘character specific’. So therefore, an event that came around ONCE IN A LIFETIME was given to a few specific characters and they (the players) could never again earn it or use it.

I realize that they want us to be purchasing dyes in their in-game store, or via the trading post but I’m the type of person that never purchases frivolous fluff like this from in-game stores. The types of things I use in-game Real Life currency on is more storage or buying expansions or more character slots.

(I was over on LOTRO for a year and used my monthly stipend to buy 2 of their expansions via their store and their cross account bank and wardrobe storage. When I ran out of things like that to purchase towards the end, I bought a bunch of character slots and a few emotes that I hadn’t been able to earn in-game. I left the game with a big pile of their currency so if I ever come back I can buy more expansions/more storage/more character slots.)

I will probably continue holding onto these dyes if they remain ‘character specific’ and since there is probably over 100 dyes, sooner or later it will make it so I have no remaining storage left, at which point I will probably leave the game rather than purchase more storage. I don’t like games that have what is similar to a repeating/infinity loop when it comes to items.

This is just my opinion, I gather I’m somewhat unique in my views.

Personal Story reward: Racial cd reduction

in Suggestions

NinjaEd.3946

This is either for the current personal story, a new side story that is kitten hard and requires guildies/friends to work through, or for future story lines in the other expansions.

Since racial elites both have a long cd AND just do about nothing, wouldn’t it be nice if the story line granted you a cd reduction on racial skills? Maybe not utility since some of them are already short cd and some are quite useful. But the elite skills would get like a % or base reduction in cd. Nothing serious so for example, if something has a 240 cd it would be lowered by 40 seconds or maybe even 204 cd (15% reduced). Just a little incentive to continue repeating the main story line on alts or if they released a new story line (would be the most costly and time consuming but not expecting this anytime soon) something well rewarding.

Just a thought.

a few improvements

There are a few things i would like to see added to the game to improve gameplay and have more goals and things to do instead of the daily and monthly grind and fractal gind.

1: Adding more karma vendors in world with armour and weapons designed to the culture or warband in that zone or are of them map, using Karma will please everyone because there are so many different types of tokens now, These cultures and vendors can be hidden to give people something to hunt for like the pirate vendor in LA which is at the end of a Jumping puzzle or in plain view like the ebonhawke weapon vendors.
As for the types of vendors i would like to see is more armour ones as we seem to have so many vendors across the world with just weapons for that race i.e. orge weapon or grawl godskull weapons why not have godskull armour or orge armour or the many many!! others out there. This in turn would give more players unique look and another way to spend are Karma.

2: New Meta events for all zones, I do enjoy some of the big dragon events aswell as lots of the little events in the zone, however with the recent patch too many people flock to the limited claw of jormag, Sunless, shatterer, Maw etc with some being on short cooldown and others being on really long cooldowns, my problem is for those of us that only have a few hours each evening to play the get to frostsound gorge for jormag even 10mins early to still find are selfs in the overflow with no event. This is why i believe having more of these events 1 per zone would help solve this problem and also maybe overlap the times so people have the choice of events to do each day. This will also please those that spend all day in the open world as they have more Meta events to do.

3: Race citys seem boring to be in, how about more fun and friendly events in the cities, at night time in the cities maybe have some parts of the cities turned into event areas, they dont have to be fully safe havens for us, maybe not near the crafting areas or the portals, but in the slums or back allys, not all the events have to be about killing things, maybe bringing in new culture hearts in the cities with new vendors to allow people to spend there karma on cultural town clothes, this way u dont have to have any starts and can use the clothes that the npcs wear in each city. Making better use of the town clothes option aswell as bring life back into the cities.

4: New mini games, Fishing game in some of the cities or docks in the openworld would be fun for people to do, i have faith that U (anet) would do a great mini game on it, there could be so many more mini games about Like Whack-A-Worm with a big 2h-hammer hitting worms in some of the farms infested by them like in queensdale. Open to other ideas.

5: I love achievements, but where is the reward? Ok there are some titles, but others how about chests or unique rewards for doing them, for example killing 1000 krait we get rewarded a krait underwater breathing mask skin or 5000 killing blows with a sword rewards u with a katana sword skin things like this would be nice something to aim towards, also i see alot of big cats and bears in would but no achievement for them and there could be more for others aswell expand on them.

6: Guild achievements and dailies/monthlys, why not have a guild achievement tab in guild option menu, things that the guikd can get together to do. That the guild all get rewarded for, like new unlocks on guild vendors, guild titles. having a guild daily to complete that earns merits and influence for guild, and a monthly that aslong as 1 person helps at least once towards it and it is completed in the month they get rewarded on completion once they log in, the reward can be the new token towards the earings aswell as guild related stuff.

this is all for now will update more later

Guild Halls [merged]

I like the ideas too, but it does keep smaller guilds out of a lot of content and has potential for bullying. Larger guilds would have their pick of an in-world guild hall wherever they wanted.

Then you have to consider things like, are any of the potential location entrances near high traffic areas, gathering hot spots, event chains, and so on. I think this would just promote more bad farming behavior and keep every casual player out of the game.

What we really need are instanced guilds halls that guild can unlock upgrades for connections to major cities only. Upgrade architecture and build Asura gates to each city and lions arch after so much influence is earned. Simple to do and the system is basically already in place for it.

It’s theoretically possible to keep track of a few timers in your head, but I can’t think of any good reason why such information couldn’t be included in the UI.

I can think of one. Not wanting to clutter the UI with half a dozen different timers for various traits / buffs.

It could be an option, I suppose. That way people who want them can have them and people who don’t care don’t have to put up with the extra clutter.
