I honestly just wish they would release an expansion with real content. I’d drop 40 bucks on it no problem. I’m amazed to see that after a year of being gone people are still asking for permanent content and Anet still keeps flushing their own hard work down the toilet every month. I mean at least flesh out Southsun or something to make it up to par with real zones..
Its a delightful treat soured by the looming shadow of the gem store, and frequent nudges towards buying gold there.
I’m actually really tired of seeing people saying “it’s their mechanic”. Rangers have a lot more going on with their theme and their abilities besides just pets. You shouldn’t be forced to use them 100% of the time, period.

casual gamer is just gaming addict talk for normal people. All these addicts savagely demand cookies and treats to keep them playing, while the “casuals” play the game for fun, you know, cause thats the entire point of video games. Play too much and you’ll burn out, no game will fix it
why cant this game be sci fi instead of fantasy? Arenanet, do something about that

I’m pretty sure that without servers, nobody could play the game at all. Because its an MMO. Online. Nah really though I think thats a good idea, but I don’t know enough about servers and what not to say whether that would be realistic/doable. It might put too much strain on the server, with the amount of people that play this and the graphical intensity of the game.
I’m glad you made a thread about this, its important. Anet, please listen to the playerbase, moving your finger to scroll is grindy and plain not fun. Why do you hate fun?
I don’t like talking to people, I have to think about what to say really hard and it just gets awkward. I never understood the way humans interact and I find myself never knowing how to respond to anything, or never getting a response to what I say. Occasionally I’ll tag along with a group of people doing DE chains or whatever but if introductions are made I just peace
really in queensdale? ive seen some mid range zones pretty empty but queensdale is usually packed, maybe come over to Anvil Rock?

Hey..uh..does anybody every consider that the world is huge and full of stuff to do in your free time and that lingering on but one of those things screaming about how it should be changed to your liking is kind of insane? Realistically, if this game changed direction or you don’t like it anymore why not just go play a different game, or do something else entirely?
This entire Mantra of “only be positive, never be negative” started in the 19th century and spread to the 21st century within US Culture. The difference between now and then is that today it has lead to a generation of irrational thinking and opinion that has caused a lot of damage.
The damage is so severe that managers are now being trained and asked to “speak directly” since many now spend more time trying to be politically correct than actually manage or lead. Walk into a walmart and as soon as you become negative, I guarantee you that you will get around 2 – 5 people doing all possible to put you into the positive-thinking mood.
Go into a college or university. Observe people, everyone is forced in a way to “maintain a positive outlook” even though it lead to a study where many were discovered to be forced into a positive mantra while internally they were self-destructive.
People who say “Be positive, not negative” and blame people for being “negative” and accuse them of “Ruining it for others” are the illogical and overemotional bunch who do not realize the power of negative feedback.
It was negative feedback that began the push to eliminate slavery in the U.S. It was negative feedback and resistance which lead to Brown vs The Board of Education and even Roe vs Wade (back during a time when abortion was illegal in many states) It was also negativity and action which proved the world that we needed Secure Operating Systems. It was also negativity which ushered anger when the world accepted only hiring degree students while companies were firing people left and right who did not have Comp Sci degrees. It was these groups who founded the top hacking groups and proved to the world that Experience and Dedication goes farther than the opinion a piece of paper equals experience when they took down the top Systems around the world.
Today, people are hired closer by experience in Comp Science than just having a degree in the field.
Positive Feedback is alright, but not as powerful as the negative. When people show appreciation for a product, it states that its fine. What is important is not the fact that 1000 people in an area are content since that says nothing about what should be and how one should proceed. What is more important is asking why the 20 – 50 people out of the 1000 do not approve. What creates that opinion and how is it generated?
What do others have that we do not?
Honesty is important as well. When people tell me to be “Politically Correct” in a society swamped by Euphemisms, then we start being dishonest.
Feedback is Feedback in any form. The fact we are going into a forum and writing this here is also a proof that we are spending time delivering our opinion.
So I don’t like being told how to think, how to act or how I should feel. You aren’t my parents and the only anger I have so far towards Anet in all honesty is the fact I was able to get my rewards in the one-time event, but many in my guild were not due to disconnects.
As the guild leader and founder, they come to me and tell me “I didn’t get my rewards due to disconnect” and it really really hurts me to say as a leader “I am sorry, there is nothing I can do about this” to my guildmates who also are friends..
This Anger is being shared by many along with the levels of fractal because it becomes harder and harder to be able to organize and provide for members and each other because of what has happened.
Anger and Frustration should reflect Anger and Frustration. I like what i read.
And yes, before you post counter-examples on how “talking” is limited, please be advised that written language has far more freedoms and more laws protecting it than spoken language and the medium used over the internet in courts is always written and not spoken unless VOIP is used.
this would be true if we weren’t talking about a video game. in this case if you are getting negative and frustrated you are doing something wrong, not the game
Awesome post OP. Nothing but a bunch of selfish whiny brats. I wish people directed this kind of frustration and entitlement towards real life.. maybe we’d have a chance of actually being free
Can somebody explain something to me? How will this new gear affect WvW if you can gear up with any gear that you want for it? Did they state that this new gear will not be available at the WvW vendors?
Sorry but this is not the best MMORPG ever made. It’s a very good one, but it’s not the best. The best is still held by an 8 year old game and nobody has come close to topping it yet. I’m sick of that game and that company but reality is reality.
(“best” isn’t purely about numbers – it’s about a combination of factors – do you really think you’ll be playing this game nonstop for years on end? that’s a big factor – some games manage it, and then some manage it with huge numbers of players)
AO has been around for longer than that bro
they tell you about these events far enough in advance that you can take the day off if you really need to participate that much. I work all day fri sat and sunday and I missed it but its not arenanets fault that people have different jobs, and that the earth rotates

yeah, the world is really big in scale, like that giant floating cube over rata sum. Kinda hard to get a good look at it in 3rd person. plus vistas would be even cooler
Well based on what I have seen in the patch notes and the game thus far I am guessing that unless you play a Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer, or Thief you really won’t be happy.
If you’re a mesmer you’ll be pissed off at today’s patch.
They took away their ability to hit targets on higher elevations. Now in a WvW siege, all mesmers can do to the wall defenders is hurl foul language.

while i don’t want a gear treadmill or anything getting out of hand, its just not possible to do it through content alone. It takes way longer to make it than it takes for you to play through it

One thing, and I’m not sure if it is this way later in the game, is that you shouldn’t just be fighting a boss. The mines of moria scene in the fellowship of the ring movie is the perfect example of a dungeon in my opinion. You’ve got lots of weakittentle monsters you have to keep from overwhelming you while you try to take down the really powerful boss. This way it has to be more coordinated, rather than everyone spamming the boss as hard as they can and occasionally avoiding his area attacks
uh just don’t buy them? lol. I’m glad they are still up, I got the game pretty late and still managed to snag some bad kitten holloween weapon skins from those chests
