You know none of this pride, QP, or Meta means a kitten thing. You are never gonna know who is good or how anyone measures up, till someone hosts a Public Major Tournament with Money and real Pride on the line. You all can talk all you want about how many views you have on a stream or how powerful your meta is. But once everything is on the line and its a first to 3 at the end of a tournament’s finals, we will see who will crumple under the pressure and who will be champions with the cash and sponsorship to prove it.
Besides it is great to see the community do great work. Even if they aren’t correct on some topics during the podcast
A while back I was in a match where a Dev showed up with the arena.net tag. It was fun and actually gave me a idea on a fun mode that could be implemented.
During the match I noticed he was getting more pressure than most other players (for obvious reasons). So I started making it a priority to stun and target people targeting him. The match became this “Protect The MVP” mode or something you would see typical in a FPS. It was actually a rush to try and keep him alive. I think it might be a fun idea to tag someone randomly in the match as a MVP and they give the team bonus for being alive and the enemy team a bonus for killing them.
Anyways keep coming into the matches Devs. Makes us feel like you care
True
However it would be a waste for skill 4 and 5 to not be used to full potental. Also its pretty hard to scale condi and power damage to a optimal level as a guardian while keeping all the other stats you need. Condi only builds aren’t very effective ether.
Alright back with a couple of builds. Keep in mind these are made with Spvp in mind since…Well that is all I do in game. They will work fine in PVE and WvW as well.
This is one for your Mace request.

This is the one I use in Tournaments. Pretty much identical minus weapon and trait swap.

If you have any questions or wanna chat about it. Feel free to hit me up in game.
Couple of quick notes:
1.) Torch scales with power instead of Condition damage. The 4th skill can crit for 6k on a good power build.
2.) Sword has better overall synergy than mace for torch. The damage from the 1 skill, Blind and teleport from 2 skill, and the Ranged block and damage from the 3 skill assist good with the torch. Mace only has a chump block ( Single Block) with 3 skill, slow cast low damage small symbol with regen in the 2 skill, and very slow yet decent damage from the 1 skill.
I can make a build with the Mace in a bit if you wish. I think a Sword/Focus and Scepter/Torch build could be better though. I’ll come back in a bit and post both.
I did use Mending heal and Rune of Earth and even Lyssa for SOR condition cleanse :P. The 3k healing loss from Mending hurts and using a heal to remove conditions is a bit ineffecient. I think the passive signet condition removal heal might help, if the heal wasn’t abysmal.
A ability or trait that removed conditions passively would help and maybe create some synergy.
Just tested this build in a tournament and it is not good enough. Although perhaps with some balance fixes in the future, it will scale to work. Here are some notes I took from the test.
1.) The condition removal was simply not enough against any decent condi burst class. Rangers and Necros could burn the build down 1v1 and the Warhorn/ Signet of Stamina didn’t cut it.
2.) The dodges were nice and the amount of endurance was quite cool. It did prolong fights against power characters. The setup felt it could compliment another build and was not necessary just for a Bunker.
3.) Because of the amount of stress the class has in tanking 1v2-3, It’s very difficult to use all your condi removal, dodging, and poping cooldowns to survive AND being able to use your weapon skills to fight back. Unlike Guardian, Elementalist, and Engie who have enough control going on to provide complimenting damage to kill someone, This class cannot hope to kill anyone in this build. (I say this against capable players in tournaments. Not just hotjoin )
4.) The Banner Regen is also a tad bit weak. Sure it does provide some healing for players and yourself. But in a team fight and solo bunker, I have never seen it save vs condition damage or power pressure. Damage ticks are simply to high against it and it might have saved seconds. Top it off the amount of healing from Cleric amulet or something similar would just negate vitality and not scale well.
This class just needs more passive survival built into it. The trade off on utility skills to make builds work is just to brutal. Ether you can’t handle stunlocks or you cannot survive condition burst. Hopefully with tweaks in the future, we can see builds like this work.
Lets stay on topic with the thread everyone. This is about Great Axes and not Samurai’s and their swords.
Lets hear more idea’s about possible Great Axe abilities or maybe weapon designs.
Just for fun I am gonna take a stab at it. Here is my version of the 5 weapon skills with adrenaline skill. The numbers will be Spvp baseline weapon damage
Two Handed Axe – Warrior
1. Split/Cleave – A two part chain attack with the Cleave applying two bleeds with 6 second duration and hitting in a arc in front of the player. 550 and 780 damage with small delay on the finish.
2. Bloody Roar – A AOE shout that applies weakness on opponents in 600 range and grants the Warrior retaliation for every opponent struck with a bleed on them. 10 second cooldown.
3. Mighty Throw- Throw your axe into a Opponent. Applies 8 stacks of Vulnerability and adds a bleed stack every 2 seconds for 10 seconds if hits opponents backside. 650 damage 12 second cooldown
4. Sky Cleave – Leap at your opponent from high up and deal damage to him and all foes around him. Applies 2 seconds of Fury for every opponent hit and knocks down the opponent. 700 damage 20 second cooldown
5. Grim Stride – Swing your axe around yourself while moving forward. Reflects projectiles while applying a bleed onto opponents who come into contact. 500 damage Lasts 3 seconds. 25 second cooldown
Adrenaline Skill – Slayers Oath
Mark a Opponent as your trophy for this day! Applies debuff that gives a bleed and weakness when struck by the Warrior. Duration of Slayers Oath increases with Adrenaline. Level 1- Lasts 5 seconds Level 2- lasts 8 seconds Level 3- Lasts 12 seconds. 12 second cooldown
As you can see, this weapon is designed to fill a condition damage slot for a Two handed Weapon. Although Sword main hand fills that slot decently, it’s not a true condition damage weapon and more of a hybrid. Offhand sword is the closest and yet isn’t filling it well yet (hopefully buffed with a patch). The numbers could be tweaked and is just a rough sketch. It is designed to invoke a Berserker Warrior running into the fray, with a different kind of damage since Two handed Sword fills the Power role.
I can also see Rangers and Necromancers being able to use this weapon. Both of them could be Condition damage skills to keep to the theme of the weapon (Both classes need it as Mainhand Axe / Shortbow and Scepter/ offhand dagger and focus are the only pure condition build weapons for both classes).
Maybe as a compromise to other classes for a new weapon. Thieves could get offhand sword, Mesmer could get Mainhand Pistol, Guardian could get Longbow, Engineer could get a new weapon kit. Then everyone is happy
So what do you guys think?
edit
Looks like me and Rage Cube were on the same Psychic Link haha

Ground targeted Wells gain no damage from condition damage. Well of Suffering and Well of Corruption scale with Power. Although Well of Corruption converts Boons into Conditions, I haven’t seen the damage come from them. Well of Darkness is just condition duration and not damage.
Staff as well only has Mark of Blood for condition damage. Most Staff abilites scale better with power. The Poison from Chillbains is only 6 seconds and poison is not known for damage (that would be burning or bleeding).
Just wanted to clear that up. Scepter + any offhand is a better condition set up and Epidemic is obvious for its power. Epidemic + Well of Corruption = yummy :P
Obviously he clipped your head with the sword and got a Decapitation.
I have seen ridiculous bugs as of late that I am mad I didn’t have the reflexes to screenshot (Bolas give me “out of range” on point blank? wtf?)
Funny stuff though!
I support this thread
I wrote in the build guide, that it would be a rough settle in for new players. It does have low defense and requires timing with your cooldowns to survive. But I come from a old school mindset to practice without crutches and strive to be the best. That is not to say any build worse than another, Warriors make great Bunkers like your build.
However that being said, in a Tournament Meta at the moment, it’s easier to roll into a team with a Damage Warrior than a Bunker. Guardian or Elementalist would be better suited in general for Support or Bunker status. Sure every team is flexible and there is a ton of technology being developed in the way classes are built. But if he wishes to work his way to “pro”, he should start with what has proven to work well. Regardless of the “difficulty”
There are many builds that are used in Spvp for Warriors. Most work and are completely viable. However the most common set up is Greatsword/Axe Shield Roamer build.
I typically don’t read on the fourms for builds, as I like to learn on the field and experiment for myself. So I am sure people will have a more “effecient” version of this build. But I am sure it will work fine and give you a start to get your feet wet. here is the build http://www.gw2db.com/skill-builds/1832-beginner-warrior
Remember to practice your class match ups and learn your class with a team. Though this build works great for Solo hotjoins, Guild wars 2 is a team game and you need to learn to support your team with the damage this build brings. Especially if you hope to go “pro” and do tournaments. Roamers are great for assassinating key targets like their Treb user and killing players attempting to rejoin the fight.
Can’t wait to watch your videos and see how you evolve. By the way made this post and build at 2:33 in the morning. Forgive me if I left any info out or didn’t explain something right. Good luck!

Trying using Stability and Stun breakers. For Immobilize, use Condition removal or Traits to go through it. The overall game design makes defense quite easy and you shouldn’t really lose control longer than a couple of seconds. Remember to build a balanced character and not go full glass cannon. Until you figure it out at least.
Trading outside the Black Lion Trading Company in Guild wars 2 in a secure fashion is not possible. There is absolutely no way to guarantee as a seller that a person will pay with coin for the item your going to send them yet.
This is mainly due to there not being a C.O.D (Cash on Delivery) on mail. It would be a easy implementation and something that is expected to find in every MMO at this point. However if this was/wasn’t to be added, person to person trading would also be nice as well. This would provide a ability to work with people as a seller and build some real economy on your server. Also it would allow crafting to be more social and build yourself a reputation as a provider of good deals and items on the server.
Also having a person to person trade would be nice to give someone a item quickly in game. It’s really weird to be standing next to someone in game and send them a mail of a potion or food item I have in my inventory. For a game full of immersion and great world set pieces…It really takes you out for a minute.
